  1. They would do better to tighten domestic lending on properties to calm the property market if they are concerned about asset bubbles, than worry about speculative inflows strengthening the baht.

A stronger baht cheapens oil imports which feed everything in the country. Capital controls will cause a huge mess.

Although I agree with you regarding the property market I don't think a stronger baht has cheapen any import product. I believe importers have increased their profit margin and are the ones benefiting the strengthening of the baht.

Therefore I doubt weakening the baht will increase the exports. Similarly the exporters may very well increase the price of the export products to increase their profit margin... or am I missing something?

  2. My phone was dead from 11.40AM to 6.30PM. I also tried to call other Dtac numbers from a public phone but the lines were dead as well.

Maintenance is just an excuse. It is definitely a technical failure, otherwise why not do the maintenance work from 2AM to 4AM and why not sending a text messenger to inform their clients and apologies for the inconvenience?

Regularly I get complains from friends and clients that they cannot reach me even though I am expecting their call and my phone is on my desk in front of me. The phone simply will not ring and I don't receive misscalls either. Few weeks ago Dtac told me "the engineer is working on it". Well, whatever, if no change by the end of january, I'll change provider.

  3. Time to leave the country boy. You have your principles and they don't work here..... Life is going to be a constant struggle if you think justice can be served. I've seen it time and time before. Go back and enjoy your rules are rules and must abide by the because it's my right "society" and stay there. It ain't going to work here and your just going to get more frustrated with the wrong people.... The right thing.... Leave

And you probably stayed here for too long. What's wrong with trying to push the country in the right direction?

  4. Hi,

This morning I was stopped by a police officer who pretended I crossed a straight line to make a u-turn. After I tried to explain him that I did was on the u-turn lane and that I did not cross any line, he became agressive. I then decided to give away my license.

I am now wondering what to do to? I did not do anything wrong and I am not willing to pay. I have heard there is a possibility to bring the case before an administrative court within 7 days.

Is it true? If so, how to do it? What is the correct procedure? Anyone has more info or advice? If not, is there any other possibility?

    Many thanks.

  6. Well said that man. I enjoy the odd Leo or three and don't really care what's made of. But I do miss British bitters. When all is said and done there's not much to choose between any lager beer. Now if Boddingtons or Timothy Taylor or Breakspear had announced they were setting up shop here then I'd get excited!

    Hobs has Boddingtons.

    Witch's has London Pride.

Bulls head has John Smith but I think the pub has closed down. :(

  7. Subscription is too expensive for HD channels.

And for non HD channels, Truevisions has once again modified the allocation number of some channels. It may be a trifle but that's really annoying. I called the call center yesterday coz I cannot access directly a channel (I need to type another number and press the next button on the remote until I get to that channel), the guy on the phone did not even know there was a change in the number of channel!

However and believe it or not, at the end of the phone conversation he said something like "Health tip! Eating rambutan every day helps to get a nice skin."

Instead of making jokes and trying to get a smile from their customers at the end of a call, Truevisions should rather focus on the key point: offer a good range of channels with good quality picture and sound for a decent price. Is it too much to ask?

  8. What's the problem with dual citizenship anyway!!

Why can't that be commonly accepted by people in Thailand?

We're in 2011, people move abroad more than before and children are born everyday with 2 parents from 2 different nationality.

These children will be raise with 2 different cultures and will learn to love them both.

Why then ask to choose between your father and your mother??

    Open up your mind people!

  9. My suggestion is think about the risks first.

I think Mitker knows very well what the risks are as his company operate for several years in Thailand.

While your arguments may be true, it also can be pure speculation. Who knows what will happen next?

I'm actually happy to see that fear does not affect everybody in Thailand.

I wish him good luck and hope he will give us a feedback after...

All the best to you Mitker!!

  10. I must be missing something. How come people be so naive (stupid) as to invest in shares they don't know anything about via investment companies that they don't know anything about? That's beyond me! Only Greed? If so, I guess these "victims" asked for it!
