  1. In 8 years we have been living together on and off. while in the UK for 3 tourist visas we were living together but while she has been back in Thailand we just stay together during my months vacation. The accumulation over the 8 years yes we have lived together for more then 2 years but i guess it depends on what the embassy's definition is.

Thanks for your help guys much appreciated.

  2. Hello forum members,

I have a quick question regarding my Thai gf application for a tourist visa to uk.

In the spouse/partner section im unsure whether my gf should select "single" or "unmarried partner".. im sure it should be unmarried partner as we have been together nearly 8 years but she is insisting it should be "single".  Will selecting "single" make the application easier as maybe "unmarried partner" will confuse things.

All my other supporting paperwork will include my details about financing the vacation and about our relationship history im just unsure what to select for the initial application form "unmarried partner" or "single"??

I guess my other question would be what are the recommended agencies to prepare a spouse visa for my next visa application later this year?

    Any help much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hello forum,

Im a British national on a 30 day tourist visa that is due to expire on the 4th July. I'm staying in Pattaya so have (as far as i know) 2 options, either Joniten immigration or a border run to Cambodia.

I hope my question can be answered and will be of use to another forum member in the future.

    1. Cost of the tourist visa extension in Jontien?

    2. How long will the tourist visa be extended by?

    3. What paperwork do i need to take with me?

    4. What is the best time to visit the office, does it get massively busy?

I'm hoping to be issued with a 30 day extension from Jontien immigration if not il maybe need to visit Cambodia...

    5. Cost of a decent agency to visit Cambodia for a day?

    6. what tourist visa extension would i be granted?

If you have any other information or tips about tourist visa extensions i would very much appreciate any useful input.

    Thank you in advance.

    Barnaby.

  6. hello members,

I'm arriving in Thailand again in January and would like to spend a week or 2 with my gf in Chaing Mai.

The last time we were there we stayed in the Queen vic which i found excellent value for money and i really enjoyed my stay, however im under the impression it has either closed or changed hands. if so can the new place be recommended?

my budget is around 900-1200 baht a night, id like a friendly guest house with decent food ( both english and thai).

if theres anywhere else that can be recommended id be great full for your opinions.

Id also like a decent English Breakfast in the mornings that serve good thai food for my gf with out door seating.

    Any help much appreciated.

    thanks in advance,

    Barnaby

  7. Thanks for the quick and helpful replies, i can assure you im not trying to blag the system, im aware that the airport is still open although the British government has advised against travel. to be honest i was kind of hopping for an extension for my Girlfriend.

Also thanks again 7by7, i think you have answered nearly every question iv posted. (it also appears you can read me like a book ;), ,

We have both decided that after over 3 years together both in thailand and England that we would like to marry in Thailand next year and then apply for settlement from Thailand.

thanks again for the help. hope that no members have been effected to badly from the floods.

  8. Hello forum members.

reading the news in England im well aware of the flooding in Bangkok., my gf has stayed with me in england for nearly 6 months and is due to go home next week, however, due to the 'crisis' in bangkok, what are my chances of getting an extension from the British embassy? if so by how many days. weeks, months? has any forum members tried to get an extension for a tourist visa because of the floods? Are the floods really that bad?

any information would be much appreciated,

    kind regards,

    Barnaby

  9. thanks for the quick answers, looks like i need to marry quick before the rules change , lol.

i suppose my only other options are to fly back to thailand again and marry there and apply for spouse visa / fiancée visa.

looks like we could possibly marry here in england and then when she returns home apply for settlement visa, at least that way she would have the option to work in england next time.

thanks again for the detailed feed back to my questions.

    kind regards , Barnaby

  10. hello again forum,

once again i need advise from some of the experts on this web site,

my girlfriend is here with me again on her third visit to england. she was given a 6 month tourist visa and so i thought id use it full the full 6 months and we can enjoy the summer together here.

i'm under the understanding that the laws changed a few months ago reference needing to get permission from the home office to marry while on a tourist visa.

my questions to the forum are,

1, can me and my gf marry while she is here with me on a tourist visa, ( i fully understand that she needs to return when her tourist visa expires)

2, if we can marry here in england, what is the procedure ? what documents does she need? do we need to report/ ask the home office, or can we just go straight to a marriage office?

3, if we can get married here in england while she is on a tourist visa, when she returns home to Thailand and applies for a spouse visa, will the embassy in Thailand have many questions as to why she married while on a tourist visa? will it effect her chances of a successful spouse visa application?

4, what would the costs be for, a) marriage in england (home office bills, registrar bills etc) , B) spouse visa when she returns to Thailand?

thanks again for reading my post, any help or advice much appreciated.

    kind regards, Barnaby

  11. yes possibly risky , but if id have booked the ticked direct from the airline the web site stated id that my visa credit card would need to be produced on check in. . but when i booked with a travel agent (ebookers) they insisted the e ticket would be all that is needed to check in. possibly a little risky, but seems so strange to me. i buy nearly everything online on a day to day basis and never need to physically show my visa debit card in person.. if every company worked like this id never be able to purchase anything online or over the phone.

from reading all the useful comments i can see im not alone with this query, so il let the forum know on Thursday whether or not we were successful . thanks again forum for useful advice.

  12. thanks for all the useful replies. today i managed to book a ticket with ebookers. a return ticket for my gf to england for £580. from searching around all day i think iv got a fairly good deal. iv emailed my gf the eticket and 'hopefully' she wont be asked for my visa debit card when she checks in (fingers crossed).

thanks again thai visa and members for helpful advice.

    until next time..

    kind regards,

  13. hello members, im trying to purchase a ticket for my thai gf to come visit me in england, while trying to make a payment online it warns me that the person booking the ticket must be the one who uses the same visa card. it also points out that on check in she must produce this visa card? if this is the case how do i get round booking a ticket for her online? is there anyway around this? will they really ask for a credit card when she checks in? any help much appreciated.

    kind regards

  14. Hello forum.

My Long term G.F has just been issued her 3rd tourist visa and im looking at her flying to see me in England for 6 months. My question is whether it is cheaper booking a flight from england or for her to book from Thailand. i seem to find it always works out more expensive for return flights from Thailand then return flights from england .(not sure why this seems to be the case).

can any forum members recommend a company either in Thailand or england that can offer good value return flight tickets from Thailand to England (Birmingham preferred) for a 6 month ticket. direct flights doesn't matter too much. do any forum members have any ideas about the cost im looking at paying? id really like to know how cheap or expensive people are paying for tickets these days.

    thanks in advance.

    regards, Barnaby

  16. thanks for the reply.

so it looks like there will be a loop hole (slightly) , with me and my gf getting married in the U.K after 9th May. even with her only staying with me on a 6 month tourist visa.

    - will it mean i can totaly avoid the home office for permission, and go straight to a registry office for marriage?

    - once married, could she apply for a fiencee visa while still in the uk? ( im under the impression that she cant work for 2 years on a fiencee visa) and what would the cost be?

    - or, if we marry in the uk and then wait for her to return back to thailand and apply for a spouse visa, would this be easier/cheeper? ( at least she would be able to work if she was to come back to england on a spouse visa)

in the future id return back to thailand with my gf, and give her the marriage that she deserves with her family and friends in her home town,

any thoughts, and or recomendations much appriciated (again).

    regards barnaby

  17. Hello Thai visa.

im just about to submit another application for my gf to come and visit me again in England for a holiday visa. After watching the T.V last week (panarama) BBC , i noticed that from April the rules are going to be changing for the home office in the u.k.. From April the home office will have a lot 'less' say about refusing marriages in the uk (thanks to the european courts of human rights). meaning they can no longer refuse marrages on the grounds of a visa nearly finishing.

    my questions are as follows..

1, does anyone else know about the new rules coming into force, or is anyone going to be taking advantage of the rule change that will be hapening?

    2. if the home office grant us permision to marriage in the u.k,, what would the cost be? and how long would she be given to stay with me, and would she be able to work?

    3. has this been done before by any forum members? is it worth it.? is there an easier option?

i understand that if i was to fly to thailand (even for a week), and marry id be intitled to a spouse visa (if succesful at the embassy). but the cost of flights ect would soon mount up..

any help once again much appriciated.

    kind regards.

  18. Hello readers.

my thai gf has just returned back to Thailand last week after her 2 month holiday with myself in england, she was given a 6 month tourist visa but because of my work i was only able to have her stay with me for 2 months. . that was her second Christmas in England after she was successful with a tourist visa last year.

My question to the forum is..

    1) How long before she can make another tourist visa? (does she need to wait in thailand for 6 months until she can reapply)?

    or

    2) Is there another option for her to come to england quicker on a partner visa/family visit visa? (any info please)

    or

    3) whats the proceedure for obtaining a fiencee visa? is the cost/paperwork and waiting time the same as a tourist visa?(if so is it worth using a thai agent to assist us).

. any help from the forum is always much apreciated

    regards, barnaby
