  1. Another Aussie news source has said that a former surrogate agency worker has stated that the couple definitely knew of the condition of the wee lad as the 2 babies were in the same hospital and same room for 4 weeks after birth.

They also said that they knew before birth as aborting Gammy was discussed but the Thai lady said no...she will take care of the boy.

I would quote or link the source but I am not sure that I can in the forum rules. I will if a mod says it's okay.

I would like to know who named the poor wee boy??

Gammy is not a Thai word and if the Aussies named the boy Gammy then they are some sick 'bleeps' as Gammy means no good, damaged or useless in Oz.

    Anybody know?

The Thai surrogates mother's eldest child, aged 7 years, is named Game. There should be a hint in that for you.

Thanks for the info...didn't know that. Cheers for the sarcasm as well...glad you found it necessary!

  3. Hi JXXXL,

We have a group of expats that usually play every Sat. am at mostly Highlands and Maejo.

We use Thaigolfer to record all scores and keep your handicap. (It is based on the USGA system and all Chiang Mai courses are in their data base).

    Oh....and its free!smile.png

  4. 2012

    Total floats: 916,354

    Made with banana leaf: 693,976

    With styrofoam: 131,338

    Other natural materials: 91,040

Source: Department of Environment Quality Promotion

Seriously....who counts these?? Or is it a number plucked from the backside??

Then there are the millions of firework debris, spent khom loys, beer cans/bottles and all other rubbish that gets dumped in the river during this festival.

In saying that I still enjoy this festival to say sorry for abusing the water by...of course...abusing it some more! wink.png

  5. I disagree semi...I think it has been changing (albeit at a snails pace) and will continue to change the more Thai move into middle class status.

The problem now is the majority of Thai fall into the lower class category (earn less than 15k a month, farmers, etc.) and don't pay tax...so the government aren't stealing from them.

On top of that the majority of the 'perks' (rebates, minimum wage, 30 Bht. doctor visits, subsidies, rice pledging, etc.) are aimed at this group which in return means votes...the 500 Bht. handshake also works well.

If I was in this category I know I probably would be voting for the ones that will make my life a little better...at least in the short term. (remember too, that this group generally are poorly educated and struggle to see long term effects.)

What I have seen in the 12 years living here that more and more are shifting from a lower class status into middle class and hence more and more are paying taxes.

In fairness I can only speak from what i have seen in Chiang Mai and cannot comment on other parts of Thai.

  6. Does this include the bill that is currently in the Senate?

No mate....the senate still gets to vote on that (maybe Monday). If rejected it goes back to the lower house where they have 180 days to convince the senate to pass it or an amended one or they do nothing and it becomes law after 180 days! blink.png

    Next week could get messy!

  7. Maybe they should talk to the met office, theres no mention of severe weather there.

In fact the 3 sites i checked suggest its going to be relatively dry for the next few days.

Exactly my thoughts...was about to cancel golf tomorrow until I looked at the weather sites and of course looked out the window???

  8. she was reported to have stabbed over 20 times by the hired murderers.

Hmmmm....someone took the 'poke them' function way too literally! wai.gif

On a serious note RIP to the manager whos life was snubbed out by the greed and stupidity of others.

    She didn't die.

Siriporn sustained over 20 stab wounds to her torso, but was well enough to point out her perpetrator in a recent lineup.

Depends which story you read Chooka...in any event...whether she died or not my sentiment remains the same (possibly minus the RIP).

The arrest happened after two men had murdered the manager right in the office, she was reported to have stabbed over 20 times by the hired murderers. Police were able to identify and arrest one of the two murderers and the employee who had hired the hit man.

  9. On Us citizenship....can anybody answer do I automatically qualify for US citizenship if my Father is a citizen?

Assuming this to be the case can I then get my children US citizenship obviously after I get mine?

I lived in the States for 15 years but failed to apply for citizenship prior to leaving...I now have 2 boys that have never been to the states.

Is it as easy as doing some paperwork here to apply in both cases or am I barking up the wrong tree??

The US also has a physical presence test as well. So if your father is a US citizen, you would need to prove that he was a US citizen and that your father lived inside the US for at least 5 years (if memory serves me correctly)

Then once you have your citizenship, in order to give your kids US citizenship, you would also new to prove you spent 5 years living in US

On point I am not sure about, is whether you can use time spent in US before you received you US citizenship or will have to show 5 years after the period where you received your citizenship?

Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

Thanks CWMM...I will check that out.

If you have proof that your father is a US citizen then it should not be a problem for you. Where were your born? Do you have your birth certificate?

You say you were in the states for 15 years. What was your status there? IE: residency.

For your sons it might be a bit more complicated but you would need to get yours first.

Thanks ubonjoe...My Father lives here with me and has his citizenship papers, etc.

I was born in New Zealand and have citizenship in both NZ and Oz with all papers, etc.

I lived in the States for 15 years as a permanent resident but lost that when I left the States for more than a year. (Due to a woman!!! Haha)

My sons were born here and I already have citizenship by descent for NZ and Oz for them.
