  1. Does anyone know where or ever heard of a restaurant called leelavadee?

Yes, I have. Years back it was located next to SCB Park, Ratchayotin Road but now it's gone or moved somewhere else and I haven't heard/seen it since.

What kind of place was it?

  2. I do thank you my friend, I had no idea bangkok is built this way, sounds just as disorganized and unplanned as Tokyo. I think I will stick with PR Park it looks relatively quiet and hidden, also that little restaurant and 7 eleven are near by. I have been to Thailand several times before but never Bangkok, coming from one conjested city to another is not my cup of tea while travelling around asia. But atleast the people are more humble and friendly but I dont like some of thier bussiness practices reminds me of Japan :o

I think you may be right someone may have been trying to get a laugh out of me, This American fellow told me that Ladprao soi 122 is a known party area for students. If it is it must be the roaches I guess LOL!

Quick question I wonder how far this apartment is from Fbt sport complex? I know that map isnt particular in the way of detail I think its across the canal right?

please ignore my last reply, dont know what happened, got distracted half way through replying, and posted before i had finished.

    anyway lets start again.

all the buildings are low cost mansions, apt buildings for rent, 3500-5000 baht per month, or 350-500 baht per night.

the building on the bottom left is a moo ga ta, a thai style self service buffet that you cook yourself, costs usually 79-99 baht per person.

this is a low cost housing area usually populated by students attending the nearby universities on ramkamheng rd, or migrants workers from upcountry who come to bangkok to work.

you wont find many westerners in this area, so there are no western style bars or clubs, there are however many thai style entertainment venues.

what are you looking for? cheap housing or a party area?

there are other party areas available elsewhere, but it really depends on your budget.

I whole heartedly appreaciate your information, I am looking for low cost housing I was asking about the party area thing because i'm looking for just the opposite. I need some place quiet, coming from Japan I'm not well versed or adjusted to Thailands style of nightlife. I'm just looking for a relatively safe place and the less active the better. Are there any areas to avoid in Bangkok though?

  4. azrael,

i have just noticed bangsue has enclosed a map of the area in his/her reply.

if you cant read thai, i will try and explain as best i can.

the road at the top of the map is lad praw rd, the road coming down at 90 degress is soi 122.

the road on the bottom of the map is ramkamheng rd, the soi going up at 90 degrees is called soi maha thai.

whether you are coming from lad praw road or ramkamheng rd, you want to turn into either yaak ( intersection) 13 or 15, the apt block is located betwen these 2 small sois.

i dont know where you live, you could always get on the klong san saep boat and get off at mahad thai pier, which is located between ramkamheng university and wat khlang, then get a motorcycle taxi, not more than 5 minutes away.

good luck if you need any more help just ask.

Your right I cannot read Thai, I do have a question though, what are the names of the buildings on the map? I was told Ladprao 122 is some kind of party area, well i'm not sure but thanks for your help.

  5. I will be attending Ramkhamhaeng university soon, I found a place on the ladprao 122 R rd(mahadthai), but since i'm not familiar with Bangkok i'm wondering do alot of students live on this soi (is it close enough to make it to the univ in a reasonable time). I've heard rumors that this is also a known party area for university students is this true?

  6. the area of lad praw rd near soi 122 is known as wangtong, this rd goes from lad praw to ramkhamheng rd.

when it reaches ramkhamheng rd this area is know as maha thai.

what is it you are looking for, an apt building, offices or what?

if you can help us maybe we can help you

I am looking for an apartment building called PR park address 201 ladprao 122 rd wangthonglang, Bangkok 10310. sorry for the late reply

  7. I don't know if this is true or not but some one told me that Bangkok university, Ramkamhaeng as well as other universities in Bangkok require thier students to have HIV tests. Can anyone confirm this?

  8. has anyone heard of an area or street called 201 PR park it's supposed to be on or around ladprao 122R, wangthonglang Bangkok, I was also told its close to Siam commercial bank mahadthai sub branch. I hope this doesn't sound confusing as you can probably tell already i'm completely lost. If anybody has any idea where this may be at please post, it would be greatly appreaciated thanks.

  9. Is there an online people finder (like there is for western countries) for Thailand that gives names and addresses I'm trying to find one of my friends we kept in contact up until last year and I haven't heard anything from him since, just trying to find out if he's okay. Thanks to anyone who can help.

  10. Simply put this question is geared to the perception that Thai women are considered whores by the less informed majority, I'm proud of any girl that loves me for who I am. If you want to get in depth I have found many a working bar girl throughout my travels through europe UK, Germany, france, ireland, iceland, italy, and eastern block esp. No western woman is above any other cultures women. It's no surprise that I see Aussie women going to Japan to become hostesses or "comfort women". I've seen many european hookers in America, basically my point is there's no need to ask if you are proud of your Thai girlfriend. Because honestly if you ARE ashamed of your girl, I think the person who chose to be with that girl has the problem. If you are ashamed you should be ashamed of yourself, for being the lame that chose the first thing that came along.

  11. A normal semester would, I think, be about 30,000 baht,

i paid my semester one tuition a few months ago was basically 30 000 baht

    Was that excluding books?

  12. Recently an individual that I have known for several years(friend) asked to borrow some cash, I was told that it was needed for University fees. I was asked to loan out 15000 baht, thats a hefty sum, is this a rip off or what? This person told that they only have 28000 to pay and need an extra 15000 is this right? Can someone please tell me the average cost for a Bangkok Univ student.

    Thanks.

  13. I'm wondering is it possible for a Thai girl to have an honest job when she has a family of four to take care of? She told me she lives in Bangkok and goes to Bangkok Uni. Her family lives around Sattahip, both parents a dead so she is the soul provider for her sisters, one which has medical problems. Is it possible to have an honest job that pays enough for these responsibilities? The reason i'm asking is because I've heard every story in the book and would like to know others opinions on this. :o
