  1. I am a Canadian national living and working in Thailand...does anyone have advice/experience on term deposits in Thailand..best banks to work with...I have held just general accounts with SCB for 12 years..i guess what i would be looking at is the the type of Term deposit where you initially deposit a set amount then add to monthly over a fixed period of time...look forward to your input

No problem with my degree and masters, but they didn't / don't,  recognise / understand PGCEi is post graduate.

I don't have a degree in education, but MoE accepts another degree plus PGCEi.

So it's part of my certificates package.

to get ur nonb for working all you need to have is a bachelors degree..the pgce is secondary to that.....if you have the original bachelor degree...do not complicate the process by adding in degrees they do not understand...just use your bachelor degree

If you start with a "Non-" visa, you can change to another type of "Non-" extension of stay without obtaining a new visa (in some cases, at some offices, etc - given that inconsistency is the norm).  If I am guessing correctly, in this case, he ended employment, did not extend his stay with retirement, did a 7-day 'get out' extension, and had to start over with a new Non-B from a consulate to transition back to a 'work' based stay.

    yes that is it

To extend the nonB every year, you gotta keep working.

Which suggests you have been working all the time since 2005.

    Which contradicts your statement that

    A. You have been legally retired on a non B

    B. Transitioned from working to retirement to working.

I don't know if what I am saying makes sense does it? Maybe I am missing something.

    forget it my friend

So if you transitioned from non B to non O and back to nonB, how come do you have a stamp on the first page of your new passport issued in 2015 with a transferred nonB dated 2005?

my assumption is that the visas didnt expire when my passport did and all relevant info was transferred to new passport to carry on with validity of visas from old passports..hmm??

I am not aware of that remark having meaning or effect, other than to Thai Consulates.  I can understand why you don't want it there, and want it gone, as it could be misinterpreted by some other country's over-zealous border-agent as having meaning.  I have yet to read a report of that happening, though.

Another theory on this, is that some Thai officials (MFA and/or Immigration) now see ANY longer-staying Farang as someone to blacklist from the ability to get Tourist Visas - even if their long-stay history is/was not based on tourism.  I would assume it was an error - but the fact they refused to fix it leads us somewhat away from that assumption.

thanks for your straight forward level headed input..we shall see how the one year extension goes and take it from there..appreciate your input very much

@eastvanman2You said you have been on non B legally working or legally retired for the last 12 years.

Note that non B is for working, non O is for retirement.

not exactly sure about that...i transitioned from working..to retirement..to working all just fine...and now to switching employer..my alarm or worry is that i have the 'remark' stamp on my new nonb page...about have many tourist visas and may not qualify for another visa..which they technically gave me when they gave me the new nonb for new job..i will ride this out with my new employer and the one year extension to see what happpens..if a problem i do have all old passport

Thai Consulates do not stamp nonB visas with this remark.

No it hasn't. A passport does not hold travel data on its microchip. Only Immigration of a certain country has access to previous travel history into that country. Consulates do not have computers that scan passports to reveal previous travel history , they base their decisions of whether to issue a visa or not based on visual inspection.

the history of nonb visa is in my new passport on the very first page..this was done on my lat passport and again dating to 2005..nothing to do with chip technology but hard copy of what is in my expiring passport..but anyways i can see what is in my passport even if u disagree

I believe that would have been an "extension denied" 7-days to leave the country, extension?  This is a common step to take, when jobs end, so you have at least those 7 days to 'get out' and make new arrangements.

The info xferred into your new passport was Non-B related - not Tourist-related.   They seem to have been referencing the original "Visa" (2005?) from which subsequent extensions were granted.  I do not see anything "tourist" related in your visa-history, available to Vientiane, at all.  You seem to have done everything by the book, and the person adding the extra-stamps must have not been paying attention and/or not known what they were doing.  They just saw a series of visas and applied the stamp.

There is no reason this would have any bearing at all on your 1-year extension.  It might be a problem if applying for a Tourist Visa at a consulate - though hopefully a review of your passport would reveal it was an error.  Worst case, if you ever want a Tourist Visa at a nearby consulate, would be to get another new passport before doing so.  But there is no reason to take that step while you are using B-Visas and related-extensions to stay here.  It would only affect applying for Tourist Visas at consulates.

the thing was the guy in front of me in the line up was a multiple entry tourist visa for many years..i think in the flurry of stamps and numbered passports my passport got it...when you say about applying for tourist visas at consulates do u mean thai visa..or visa for any country...the latter situation is my concern

no i had a non b from last year in my new passport....all previous info from 2005 had been transferred into the passport......was legally employed by a school...my non b expired on june 21...i got a one week tourist visa extension from immigration in sriracha...went to laos on june 25...returned to thailand on june 28...with a new nonb for a new school with the remark stamp on the new nonb page  that i had many tourist visas and may not get another visa...my new employer will be applying for the one year extension this month in jomtien..so will see what happens then...to me it clearly seems a mistake..i have all my old passports to show..advice so far has been not  to rock the boat and see how one year extension goes...to me though..i dont like have that remark on a 10 year passport with 9 more years to go

i also showed this to the canadian embassy in bangkok..their comment was that it was out of their jurisdiction to do anything about..but from what they could see it was clearly a mistake

To clarify - this was your first Thai Visa in a new passport - and a Non-B Visa?   No Thai Tourist-Visas in your passport at all?

This sounds very strange, firstly you did not apply for a TV and 2nd you had a new PP and they stamped your PP saying you were using to many TV's?

    Something very wrong there

  13. did it myself about a month ago..all fine except i was applying for a nonb..which i got but the thai consulate decided to  stamp my new canadian passport on the nonb page that i was a frequent user of tourist visas and may not qualify for another visa..which caught me by surprise as  I have been in thailand for the past 12 years always on a valid and properly obtained nonb ...either legally working or legally retired..now what??...i was told the venitienne consulate is proving more difficult for whatever reason

  14. this has been building up for a while..i was in there about 2 weeks back and took more than 3 hours to get through...was with mostly  chinese and the existence of queues was nonexistent...one was forced to protect your space if you had any hope in getting to the immigration officer...immigration officers were yelling at the chinese tourists..it felt on the verge of chaos and out of control...a system of barricades filing people through would go along ways
