  1. I know I haven't been In Thailand long and being Married to a Thai Official is quite wrong, but I think most of the people posting on here are quite amazing!

I see things through my wife's eye's as she is Thai, and educated she knows as to millions of Thai's that the whole of Thailand every single person from the lowliest Clerk in Immigration to the Highest of the High are, and always will be corrupt you will not have a Thailand until you have a Royal Thai Police force you can Trust, you have to start at the bottom and clear out the corruption. Like him or not (I don't) Sutthep is right to want a change in Leadership, as to why he is doing it this way, there is no other way as Thaksin can buy as many votes as he wants, My wife's family were all Paid a thousand Bht to travel to BKK to Protest and were told to cause trouble, they didn't they just took the money as do all politicians, they were also given 500 Bht to vote, most people who post on here are just doing it for the argument it provokes, Try using your brains and see the truth.

  2. Thanks for all the sensible feed back on snakes. I think I will just stay out of the way of all that I see.

I can well believe the 6 per day, on average we have at least 2-3 in our village, and have had many in our garden as the properties next door are empty and they can get underneath too breed. I have it on good authority (mainly the 80 year old gardener) that the green ones as with ALL SNAKES are all venomous but as to what degree he couldn't explain< Most are either Rat Snakes or a green tree snake, however he has found several small cobra,s.

Four years ago there was 2 deaths in the village just off soi 112 with a deep bite from a Malayan Pit Viper a dog and an old lady in the same house. So do what most people do and give them as wide a berth as they give us.

  3. Dear Gregga, I have been living in Thailand now for a short while, and I am moving to Hua Hin soon with my two children, one of which will be Probably going to the same school, you will find there is a lot of differing advice out there, so I willnot proffer you any, however... my wife is Thai and speaks fluent English we would be happy to help you with translations ans such you can email me on [email protected].

  4. Cheers Erich for the advice

It is quite difficult to get a child into Salesin school if it is outside of the school's acceptance periods because the classes are normally full. We tried to get our Thai boy into the Salesian buy failed since we applied too late. What friends, who have children there, say is that it is a pretty good school but their English classes are, like in most Thai schools, very poor.

This I can't confirm. Our son (Thai) is in this school and I can't claim that the English lessons are so poor. They even have English teachers from outside.

It is normal for such kind of schools that you can't put your children outside of the school acceptance periods. Especially because the classes are full. We also had to wait 4 Months until our son had a chance to make the test and could enter Salesian school.

    Regards

    Erich

  5. Hi to everyone in sunny Hua Hin, I posted recently and got some very good replies to my internet sp so thank-you all for that.

I would now appreciate some advice on looking for a reasonable kindergarten for my kids. I am currently looking at salesian (vitthayalai)

school which is the catholic one close to Tesco. Does anyone have any children there are heard anything negative about this place?

  6. I heard good things about 3BB here but mixed reports from other people. But almost universally, TOT seems to be panned....I was going to go to the 3BB office near market village soon anyway and ask them about their prices as I want to change my ISP.

  7. If they really want to do something they should try to trace where the CP comes from. Who supplied the CD's. And still the question: who buys these CD's ? How come we never heard about or saw CP a few years ago ?

I never reply to ANYTHING I see or read in this forum as most of the replies I read or see are to weird to comment on, but OPEN YOUR EYES beach road is loaded with CP I see it everyday I walk down there and have reported it before but NOTHING EVER HAPPENS>

  8. Hi Mate,

Firstly I know how you feel!! I have been living ina small village called Bangnong 35 km outside surratthanee, where there is no farangs whatsoever, (there are a few I have met in Surrat itself) I have renovated the entire top floor of the FAMILIES farmhouse to western standards so at least I have a retreat!! I have been here approx 2 years now and still find it quite hard as my thai is very poor(just cant learn tried and tried!!)

I originally moved here to keep an eye on a couple of Thai workers who were supposedly farming my rubber and making rubber air dried sheet for me!!! That was a laugh one for me and two for them!!!.

So now I have built a small factory for processing the rubber into smoked ribbed sheets very proffitable if done right, and we are still learning, althiugh we are now producing abouth 900-1000kg per day and at 69-72bt per kg thats not bad,

If I didnt have this buisness I would have gone up the wall by now, as it is very hard doing nothing especially if you have no means of communication except with your wife to translate everything, even then you only get about 2/3rds of the conversation.

I have managed to get to pattaya a couple of times for r&r but it is quite difficult as we are very busy, If I had a choice I wouldnt have come here I would have stayed in my luxury condo!!! with all my freinds and all the mod cons, However I have made my own bed so to speak!!

Once we become established and can find someone I trust (LOL) maybe I can install him as a manager and have some more R&R

    best of Luck

    Paul

  10. Hi folks I have been living in Thailand for nearly four years the last couple in Suratt, where my wife and I are in the Rubber/Palm buisness. Feeling a bit lonely so looking for any expats for a coffee/chat email **email removed to avoid spammers please PM poster--sbk***

  11. HI ALL JUST FOUND THIS FORUM ON A GOOGLE SEARCH, SO SORRY FOR BUTTING IN. QUICK HISTORY MARRIED A THAI GIRL 2 YEARS AGO, WHO COMES FROM SURRAT THANNI SHE HAD 100 RAI OF RUBBER (2 YEARS OLD) ALTOGETHER THE FAMMILY HAVE ABOUT 260 RAI MOST ALREADY BEING CUT. THEY HAVE BEEN GROWING RUBBER FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND THE PRICE HAS STEADILY INCREASED, AND WILL DO FOR YERAS TO COME, HOWEVER MANY RUBBER FARMERS ARE NOW CUTTING AND CLEARING THERE OLD RUBBER AND PLANTING PALM, AS THIS IS A MUCH QUICKER CROP A MORE LUCRATIVE CROP AND REQUIRES MUCH LESS CARE.

HOWEVER IF YOU WANT TO KEEP GROWING RUBBER DEMAND WILL OUTWAY SUPPLY FOR MANY MANY YEARS TO COME AS SYNTHETIC RUBBER ALBEIT EXCELLENT CANT REPLACE NATURAL RUBBER.
