  1. This story is funny but sad for obvious reasons, however I know a Thai gild well who lives in UK

her view is Thailand is dangerous, she wont go out walking after 8.00pm also dressing down no make up etc.

Says 50% of cab drivers are bad she had some horrendous tales, when you hear it from a Thai it makes you think I have never had a problem there but it makes you think.

    :o

  2. The guy who spat spat, its no good blaming the dim witted tourists they never taught him this.

The problem is westerners think Thailand is perfect, well its not Ots great place but they have their share of scum as all countries do.

Why do the Thais learn bad from us and not the good ?

The guy is an ass simple as that

  3. The best flop flps are "Reef" I will explain why, the rubber used is the softest however the sole is hard this means the shoe moulds to your feet.

They are not cheap , but they last a long time are very comfortable compared to the Brazilian sandal people rave about they are 100% better.

If you try then you will never wear another flip flop, about £20.)) very cheap for what they are.

  4. Males are not bred for monogomoy, spread the gene pool Like a lion in a jungle.

To raise children well its best for a mother and father so society drives us that way.

How many rich men are monogomous ?

10% OF CHILDREN BORN IN WEDLOCK IN uK ARE NOT AFTHERED BY THE HUSBAND, this was found out and will not be pushed for obvious reasons.

A lot of people stay with 1 partner for financial reasons and they are scared to start again..

In my view some women are happy being faithfull, but I dont believe men are IMHO

Different strokes for differnt folks, how many of your married freinds are jealous of you going to Los ?

Whats right for one is wrong for another, right for me I have never stayed faithfull I am incapable.. know yourself

  5. I kid you not, every night I'm out on the town I see farangs getting dragged-off into the darkness with a ladyman on each arm, smiling like they've just made the big-time. Sometimes I just stand on the sidewalk and watch them operate, they literally approach every single unaccompanied male until they find one drunk or silly enough to not know/care. I keep thinking, sometimes this must end badly? :o

I agree how many falangs have been robbed badly but keep it quiet, Mr Pattaya always tells you what you should do...

    We all know Mr Pattayas

  6. In real estate there are two types of buyer, the one who loves the place , location and wants to live there- They pay top dollar

Then the guys looking for a deal- they wont

Why anyone would risk 300k UK for a place they dont really own is oddm but not if you have lots of 300ks then its like a beer.....

  7. 10,000 dollars is less than a seconds worth of Trump's wealth. It means nothing to him. With that second of his wealth, he just bought MILLIONS OF DOLLARS of free good public relations. On that little gesture, he profits BIG TIME. When an average person tips 20 baht it is a much bigger gesture. Good day. Who is judgemental, sounds like you are.

Jing, you make some good points it puzzles me why some posters cant see the above, also some dont admit they feel pressured to tip big.

So they justify their actions and say a person with another view is cheap, they say this as they dont like the prospect they are being mugged by peers or worked by staff.

There are many reasons to tip high and low too many reasons to write and too complex for this forum.

  8. . I remember a time I was pick pocketed in Pattaya on a songtao. Didn't put it together until i was off and already payed the driver. One of the passengers (thai siting next to me) got me, not really sure how but it had to of been him. I figured it out and was extremely angry that I ran after the baht bus dodging in and out of traffic. Realizing I could be hit by a car, I decided to let it go. All in all probably good i didn't confront the guy, because I would've bashed his face in and I, being a foreigner, would've lost in the end. Lost 1000 baht. Lesson: shit happens, oh well, move on.

They work in teams, normally and older lady will start talking to you then maybe offer a seat I have seen it a few times.

Never been done but had a close call on the pickpocket, been done on the padded bill in Phuket the worst place is samui almost every bar tries it. worse if you go out and eat asa party of 6 or 8 you will be padded like a pillow....

As the guys say pay the bin regular, maybe every transaction that would finish the scam.

but the problem is westerners says "its only this" so dont care or dont admit they care.

Its nice when they try it and you catch them

  9. . An employee at the embassy in bkk once told me the failure rate of thai/english marriages was around 90 per cent ! :o

The aboce is probably right however the definition of a failure in marriage does not only mean divorce, I know one guy who sold up in UK bought a small bar and guest house, his wife sees Thai men and steals his money. He is not happy but he is frightened of his wife and cant go back home- But they are not divorced so is it a failure ? Well not from her perspective.

I know of another older guy she is 24 they live in UK he has built her a house, he rents in UK and is no struggling for money but he is like a gambler he cant stop he has nothing all the assets are in his wifes name, is that a succesfull marriage ?

The problem there is almost an incentive to break up, same as a western girl if she is from a poor background and walks away with 400k from a 2 year divorce ....

Marry if you want but its like taking a bet, dont moan if your horse dont win

  10. :o The UK Government are really funny, so now if people can speak English then they can come in so a Phillipino will get more points than a Thai.

The intellect of some of the advisors us unreal, the thing is in the last 5 years they have sepnt million of pounds on 21 langauge translation teams in London....

    England is going to pot......

If we cant buy land in Los why do we let people from Los buy lamd here ?

  11. What an interesting question... I have observed a pretty busy Mosque on Tepprasit, and a brand new building, quite magnificent, off Teppraya, going down a side soi, brownish/reddish color... not sure if it's a mosque, but it's a very large complex. I can add that there are a lot of Arab restaurants/businesses in the vicenity of the notorious SOI V.C., where you can see a lot of, shall we say, "part time Muslims", who are no doubt muslim in their home country, but in Pattaya, somehow, all of that disappears, and it's PARTY TIME! Lots of these people stay at the V.C. Hotel, as they "sew their oats" in Pattaya. I don't like to generalize, so I'll state this was a ONE TIME INCIDENT, but I saw one of these Arabic people, who was probably one of these "part timers", take out a cigarette, and just casually throw the empty box on the street, as if our streets were their trash can. It was done in a rather cavalier way, as if to say, "I've got more money than the average Thai, so I can throw my trash wherever I want..."

He threw his rubbush on the floor I am sure falangs do this, as for your interpretation I find it most odd.

he may just be a very confident person with high self esteem and poor manners.

"As if to say" what a quote

  12. :o I am puzzled by the connection made in this thread, his girlfreind has been messing around and

got pregnant by a Thai man. (In the West the belief is 8% of married couples babaies are not fathered by the husband)

I dont see why he would choose to drink himself to death due to his girl doing what she did, I cant see a connection between the two incidents.

Its the same as saying, its raining I will go and kill myself.

These forums bring some very unusual mindsets, they are interesting but in some cases odd...

Also did he not have a clue what some girls in Los who are half the age of the western boyfreind are like.

Its always sad when a person dies , but some dipsos have a death wish

  13. Codolonces to the girls loved ones, I am not suprised the Tha youth are getting dissafected they have a view of the West we have everthing they have nothing.

That fact alone has awalys brought trouble, Los is changing if the education is poor and the opportunities what will they do, well sadly join gangs take yabba and do bad crimes.

Its bad but not suprising, Thaksin has bought a UK football club with whos money ?

  14. I have got a pal who is always going to stop drinking, after next weekend , after next holiday.

Being around him helps me moderate my drinking as i dont want to end up like him, he an addict who wont accept he has a problem. I feel sorry for him and am not sure if its a mental issue.

Going out late at night and seeing the state of some people is a good thing to do as you wont have the desire them. City centres in UK are like warzones with people falling about.

Thanks for all the posts real honesty and some very good ways to deal with a tough sitation

  15. My windows are way too dark for anyone to see inside, hence the reason I am rarely pulled over as they can't see it's a farang driving who would like to contrbute to the 'tea fund' Having put up with similar looney legislation in the UK, it was proved to be pretty much a waste of time. Holding a phone to your ear is no more distracting than talking hands free, changing a CD, lighting a cigarette, programming your sat-nav etc.etc. And they have full on TV's on the dashboard here, that still work when you are moving. And where is your constructive comment?

The statement saying its no more distracting than the other things in my view is not correct,in the Uk whenever you see a driver not pulling away at a roundabout in time, verring lanes and driving as if distracted when you pull alongside they are always on a mobile phone. The are distracted so much they cant concentrate on driving, this leads me to another point some drivers are so poor any distraction has an amazing effect on their driving.

All drivers past a test all IQs are not, stupid person + bad driver + phone = Big plompem

Clever person + good driver + mobile phone = No plompem

    There you are

  16. They will never regulate ven in the slightest, the Thais like the element of lottery in all things a dum tourist will pay the 500 from Walkigt Street to Naklua 500-

In the past I have got on a bus on my own only for it to deviate as quickly as it can then ask "where you want go" of course tryingto turn it into a taxi.

I then offered a 20 baht note to get the great line " I no have change" not to worry I just found one.

They love trying to con and cheat, its almost an obsession.

Also I know a good freind who had an atemted pick pocket team on a baht bus from Jomtien, the bus stopped the team of 3 thives got off and never paid the driver ! So is he in on a commision.

Stay safe its a jungle out there

  17. Anyone who believes that VT7 will be built as is; must be missing a few bricks (it will only be completed if hundreds of millions of baht are paid under the table)…and as for workers on site I would hardly call security and a couple of gooks with wheel barrows construction?

In fact I've not seen more than a handful of workers on any of the VT Jomtien sites for months

This has the potential to wipeout VT and will have an impact; VT execs have stated already that this has cost half a billion baht so far???

I would be getting serious legal advice and sue-in for beach of contract a.s.a.p; even that will take years to go thro the courts and most prob even then VT will be know as something completely different

This will end in tears, either the loud foreigners will be whacked or jumpers, millions paid in tea money or VT goes bust…This is Pattaya after all anything can be bought

    :o

    JPM76

I had posted "All you are going to get here are uninformed opinions and pure speculation." and above is perfect example.

There is no breach of contract and you can observe the construction progress in this photo taken about a week ago,

    http://www.viewtalaycondo.com/constraction_update_august.htm

When the VT4 project was cancelled buyers were given the option of a cash refund with interest or transfer payments to another VT project. If VT7 does not go forward you may be given the option of applying your payments to a unit at VT8(?) or a refund. I personally would not trust a Thai lawyer here in Pattaya because they don't want to tangle with the VT people who I am told are richest people in Pattaya. The JCC complaintants could not find a lawyer here in Pattaya to take their case and had to go to Bangkok.

The thread is why I will never buy in Los, "it is a country under military rule" Falangs cant own land, its 3rd world.

I suggest you rent a place for a year or 2 as a minimum, unless you have a high risk view

to investment, you may make a lot of money or you may los a lot.

What you gamble is your choice

  18. Yep - see this link.

    It says 2005-06 figures down 2.4 %

Has the usual nonesense about the 'political situation' and even bloody 'bird flu' as the cause - laughable. But interesting that this comes from a "property" web site. And no denying that these are their figures - not from naysayers..

    http://www.globalpropertyguide.com/article..._id=84&cid=

(if that link doesn't work go their main wsebsite. There is a graph with other Asian countries as well.

as far as i see the prices are not dropping in samui ,if anything there going up....

    Yes, I'd agree with that.

Although I notice there are more projects with smaller properties (e.g. apartments and condos as opposed to luxury villas) being developed in areas that have traditionally gone for luxury beachfront villas (e.g. Phuket, Samui), which obviously cost less... but, from the activity I've seen from 1Rai.com's member agents, I'd say that prices definitely haven't dropped in general over Thailand.

Sure, the property market is less active and, as a result, I'm sure that some owners are telling agents they'll listen to lower offers than they originally thought, but I think that this is a very small fraction of the market and it is outweighed by new developments... still in high demand.

Aye right - of course you are giving an unbiased view :o

As Mandy rice Davis once said, "He would say that wouldn't he"

I would answer but the pig I see flying past my 30th floor window is more interesting

I really try hard not to respond to this type of comment, because it's not really helpful to anyone. However...

Why exactly would you think I would be biased towards house prices going up or down? I'm not an agent and my business does not revolve around commissions. All 1Rai.com does is allow many agents to put listings on our site, and charge them money for the privelege. Doing this of course puts me in an excellent position to measure the market - without doubt in a better position than a global property overview - because we track exactly what people are looking at and we track what sort of properties go onto the market.

Our tracking shows that Samui prices are not going down, they are going up, and people are still enquiring - and some of them are buying. But one one thing is for sure - average Koh Samui prices are not falling.

My response was an informed one as it's based on consumer and agent activity, which may not be in accordance with "global statistical measurement", but it is what is happening, so it is a given fact.

Well you would say that - are you just thick or a conman?

The Property business publices anything as it can be viewed as a buying opportunity,

so prices are rising .. quick buy.. they have dropped a bit.. quick buy...

I will never hold assets in Los
