If there are clientele who wish to enjoy themselves in bars into the early hours of the morning, then why not. Its good for business.
Personally I much prefer to be tucked up in bed by 2.00 am at the latest.

Soi Buakhao is getting more busy with traffic and pedestrians. It needs to made one way. Also add some 20 mph traffic signs.

In Pattaya, I can buy real Thai-manufactured Sildenafil at 400 baht per pack (4 x 100mg tabs). What did you get? It couldn't be the real Viagra brand at that price.
Once I realized what had happened I thought it was a simple mistake that could be easily rectified when I returned to the pharmacist which was just a 5 minute walkaway.
What got my goat was their ATTITUDE.
There immediate dismissal of what had happened, flipping it over and blaming me and their veiled threat to call the police.
It is a possibility that the pharmacy has done the same things to other foreigners.
The viagra tablets I purchased were called Sidegra.
BTW. The vast majority of porn stars use viagra

Just to let everyone know I went to purchase some Viagra tablets from a pharmacy in Hua Hin.
The cost of the tablets was 300 baht. The pharmacy technician put the sealed Viagra box into a small paper packet and handed to me.
No problem you might think, however back in the hotel room I opened the Viagra box to discover there was nothing inside.
I was most surprised, perhaps a mistake was made so I returned to the pharmacy and asked for either a replacement Viagra box or my money back.
Unfortunately the pharmacy personnel were being uncooperative. They did not believe me when I told them the box was empty.
I explained a person must have opened the box as the seal was weak when I first opened it.
They still refused to replace the Viagra and threatened to call the police. So I said go ahead call them.
The bluff didn't work. Instead I left and visited the local police station just around the corner from the pharmacy.
I explained the police officers with the help of an interpreter who was luckily there at the time what had just happened .
They agreed to come with me to the pharmacy to sort out the situation.
So we traveled to the pharmacy 2 minutes away to discuss the situation with pharmacy personnel.
There was a lady and male working there. When I explained what had happened they both (especially the women) argued quite loudly with me that I wasn't telling the truth.
Eventually with the help of the police they replaced the empty pack of Viagra with another pack of Viagra which I opened to see there was 4 Viagra tablets inside.
Then the police took a picture of me taking the pack of Viagra from the lady technician.
Case closed .
For anyone buying Viagra tablets from any pharmacy in Hua Hin, I recommend you check the box contains tablets before purchasing .

Bangkok is just becoming another generic polluted city with western fast food outlets on every street corner. At least Vietnam has some culture.

It makes perfect sense to start letting in Chinese tourists. According to statistical data there has been no deaths in China from the corona virus in the past 6 months.
-
I believe many westerners have nostalgic feelings of a fun joyful Pattaya, which is why we make comments on this site. Times are changing and a different kind of tourist is here. Rents will rise, and bar owners will call it a day. There is more to Thailand than Pattaya.

I believe in a few years time Pattaya will start to look a lot like Sihanoukville in Cambodia. The number of tourists from mainland China will rise dramatically. Escorted tours that stay at high end hotels, spending vast sums on money ripoff entertainment venues, food buffet restaurants, and overpriced gem/souvenir outlets. Reality is the ageing westerner is gradually disappearing.

RIP Kev in Thailand. His videos about Pattaya were very interesting to watch.

After watching this video a few times, I'm still unsure what the alteration was about. There has been a lot of speculation about the cause, but that's all, no real evidence as to who is the guilty party. Until CCTV footage from the Subway carriage is downloaded and viewed, then it is wrong to draw any conclusions.
The tourist does say the word 'eyepiece'. so maybe he suspected the native was secretly filming him or someone that he knows.

How long before the Indians just pay Thai girls to work in brothels, happy massage, or nightclubs in India, for wealthy Indians?
Much the same way Thai hookers are working in The Middle East, and in western countries.
Thai massage parlours exist in the far East like Korea and Japan as well. The women are very well paid compared to what they would earn in Thailand.

Thailand doesn't represent good value for money anymore. 35 Baht to the pound is just taking the p**s.
Plus I found the natives of Pattaya were rude, unfriendly and money grabbers.
Quite frankly I will be taking my custom elsewhere next year to alternative countries in SE Asia.

Yes very misleading, he's probably an English teacher, lol. We all know dissidents are treated so well in the land of scams, lol.
Perhaps what he means is he concerned about Vietnamese citizens who exercise free speech using social media platforms is offensive.
Should I inform Vietnamese authorities of these undesirables, that is of their indigenous population I come across on my travels ?
Could someone please explain ?
Maybe I'm looking into this to deeply.

I just saw a story from Vietnam, too. Teacher given 11 years for Facebook posts..how long will it be before they realize Thailand is dumping its undesirables on them. You know the saying.. Don't cheat a cheater.. Perhaps the only nationality better at cheating than the Chinese...
Please correct if I'm wrong, the teacher who was prosecuted was actually Vietnamese.

Vietnam is a good example to show there are alternatives to Thailand.
There are many other countries to choose from -
Philippines
Cambodia
Laos
Myanmar
Taiwan
When Airlines start offering cheaper flights, maybe even non stop flights to these countries. This will motivate tourists to travel elsewhere.
I was looking on a popular travel website that had a 1 Stop flight from London to Saigon, less than 15 hours each way for just £511. Ironically that was with Thai Airways.

That's what I do, stay just one night at a hotel near Bangkok airport and then fly out next day to Vietnam. Its easy, on arrival at Bangkok airport get to the airport rail link, travel to the first stop at Lad Krabang station then take a taxi to a nearby hotel. There are many along Lad Krabang road which is close by.
The only reason I stayed in Thailand this time around was because there were only 5 months left on my passport so I was unable to fly to any neighbouring country's. I stayed for 6 nights in Pattaya and saw lots of tourists, and yes Walking street was very busy, just not with "Westerners". So I disagree with the title of this thread.
People may argue that Pattaya has beer bars and Go Go bars. Well things have changed, I am now very wary of going into a beer bar, knowing the minute my back is turned some one will pad my bar bill. With fewer beer bar customers, bar workers are becoming more desperate for money and so this will become more regular. That is wrong. I want to sit in in a nice bar / restaurant, with genuinely friendly staff, relax and enjoy myself, that's what holidays are for.

Step outside nice and cheap accommodation like this in Ho Chi Minh City, and your food, beverage, transport, tourist activities, and "fun" is also nice and cheap.
The question now is: "Why would anyone bother going to Bangkok when Ho Chi Minh City is so close?"
Your right, I feel Bangkok is so much more expensive now. Whilst just an 1 1/2 hours away by plane, you have Ho Chi Minh city. The flights are quite cheap, it's possible to book a return from Bangkok to HCMC for under £100. Last time in HCMC I stayed at a very nice guesthouse for £15 per night in the heart of the city. That is now not possible in Bangkok.

Can't blame Thailand for your home currency being TP, can you?
There are plenty of nice restaurants that have food at reasonable prices, but you just haven't found them yet.
I just arrived in pattaya and will be visiting my favourite restaurant Cafe Petini on soi buakhao. The food they serve here appears to be of a high standard I think.
On the subject of beer. I was passing through Korat (not much to see here, just being honest) and visited one of the few bars in the city. The drinks menu at the bar displayed a massive selection of bottled beers from around the world. Surprisingly the price of each bottle was between 200 and 250 baht. No way will I pay that much for beer. Anyway there was a pub next door called the George and Dragon which I visited. It had a nice selection of drinks at a more reasonable price.

I enjoy going out to a nice restaurants in Vietnam specifically HCMC knowing that the food will be at a reasonable price. Cannot do this in Thailand now because of the awful exchange rates.

There have been a lot of demographic changes in Pattaya since I first came here 7 years ago. Walking Street now seems like Russia Street (especially the southern end), next to this there appears to be a mini Istanbul. Write Europeans, Americans, Australians are indeed a minority. I have a friend who goes there regularly, who refuses to accept what has happened, very strange indeed.

I like Pattaya ,to visit.Don't want to live there
I would echo those sentiments.
Yes, I agree to.
Pattaya is great for a bit of shopping, a visit to the dentist, or the opticians, and maybe a quick jiggi jiggil. and that's it.
The longer you stay the more you will spend.
-
Hey swordficsh--did you even make it out of Pattaya? Sounded you required a lot of directions
Just wondering, dude
errr yeah, hilarious...
am i missing something?
but anyway, for those who are interested:
i've done this same trip for ten years.
but knowledge is power, and maybe there's a better/easier way. glad this caused you so much enjoyment, Jesus.
(do u ever get the feeling that some peeps need 2 get out more)?

- despite the fact that it continues on from Chanthaburi to Trat
- B 170
- 5.5 hrs from Sukhumvit to Trat bus station
- B120 minibus from Trat bus station to Hat Lek/Cham Yeam
- business visa (tru cost $25) cost me $25 + 200 baht premium. believe it or not, this was cheap...
- $3.15 for moto from Cham Yeam to Koh Kong (including toll)
- good room in Koh Kong (wifi, cable, big tv, view, fan, comfy bed): $7/night (Dara Thmey g/house)
- bus to snooky $7 @ 0720 the following morning (Koh Kong CBD)
voila
- no bus service running (in low season) from Pattaya bus station to Trat
- couldn't find minibuses from Central festival to Trat
- couldn't find buses from (just south of) Big C to Trat
thanks folks, i'm here all wk (just for you, Jesus)
This is similar to journey I usually take to from Pattays to Koh Kong/Cambodia.
Wait at the bus stop at the intersection of North Pattaya Road and Sukhumvit Road - a 2 minute walk from Pattaya Bus Station.
Catch any bus or minibus that comes along, Rayong, Chanthaburi or Trat, they all go in the same direction :-)
Ps. There are regular buses from Rayong and Chanthaburi bus stations.
When you arrive at Trat bus station catch a mini bus to the Hat Lek border crossing with Cambodia.
On the Cambodian side of the border crossing you might get some hassle at immigration, please be patient. After you passport has been stamped, do not pay the taxi driver any more than 300 baht to Koh Kong village.
There are many Hotels to stay at in Koh Kong. I usually stay at the Koh Kong city hotel which has great views overlooking the river.
(although I would not recommend the food at the restaurant next door).
Note 1. No need to get up so early, just make sure you are standing at the Pattaya bus stop by 10.00am , you will probably arrive at Hat Lek border by about 4.30pm
Do not worry if your late as the border crossing closes at 8.30pm.
Note 2. You have to stay one night in Koh Kong as buses to Sihanoukville leave at 8.30am in the morning.

I clearly didn't feel seriously in danger. I did feel UNCOMFORTABLE. And there was no way I was comfortable announcing my nationality on that bus as I did feel doing so might make the situation dangerous. But I didn't feel like there was a compelling need to get off the bus either.
I understand some westerners can sincerely talk about how you hate western policies towards the modern Iranian regime. I can't because I don't feel that way and I am not a very good liar, sorry!
You're assuming all the Iranians here are anti-regime.
Nope. Not all are.
Just because they are drunk and with bar workers doesn't prove they are anti-regime either.
Hello there. I have 2 questions.
1. Were these Iranians pointing at you with outstretched arms ?
2. When they laughed were they making eye contact with you then immediately with one another ?
If the answer is yes, you would have every right to feel uncomfortable.

A couple questions to you all.
Are these Jet Ski operators actually organized criminal gangs who use extortion to obtain large amounts of money through coercion e.g. threats of violence and kidnapping ?
Are these Ski operators aided abetted in these unlawful acts by a corrupt police force and government officials ?
-
Regarding the Youtube video of the Jetski scam taking place. It would be interesting to say freeze frame the video, then outline in red the people involved in the scam. The results would be frightening. I would guess almost everyone.

The first time I used Sildenafil the love making lasted 45 minutes and the member stayed hard throughout.
Apologies for the dirty language for those of a sensitive nature.
Not even in my youth could I achieve such results.
