  1. This is precisely the reason Abhisit is needed in this country - he is honest. He knows how Thailand must change, what is needed both to improve law and order enforcement issues as well as to begin to confront corruption. A formidable task indeed, but Abhisit is Thailand's best chance to make some progress.

Police only work for the money, and are in many instances tied in with a system of corrupt lawyers who feed them with victims and share handsomely from which ever party pays the most money. Fraud cases are very common in Thailand and there are never easy solutions for bringing about justice. Lawyer work very hard to share in the spoils, and are prone to taking payoffs to bury cases in conjunction with crooked officials. The whole policing system needs a complete overhaul.

  2. The firm depends on your needs please be more specific. Most lawyers in Thailand know Thai law but are low on foreign law knowledge or internetional law, knowledge. In the past I have gotten all my recommendations from thai associates. Have always had good results and paid only what was quoted at the begining. Try asking some thais you know.

Read the post again the OP does not want advice on anything, Only opinions from TV members on firms they have used.

Names of legal firms used not to be mentioned.... just want to hear experiences of others.

  3. :o:D:D Nice to help, please add your experience when you come back from KL. Make sure you dress the part when you go to the Thai embassy, as I think the period of the visa is at the discretion of the staff. Thats about it.

Can you add some details, to help me, trying to understand it?

    That means:

First NonB multiple, or another one?

    fresh WP, or having longer

Long term staying inn Thailand, already, with only visa runs every 90 days, or Passport clean by entries of this lenght?

Would give a better overview, minimum for me!

    ;-)

    Thx!

Renewal of Visa just before the expiry of the below.

New Job, with New 90 day WP after obtaining my 90 day Non imm B from Penang.

I have had Non Imm B before but not for a long time.

    Hope this helps

  5. That is good news, as i am off to the exact same thing on June 9th. I too will have a work permit valid for about another 14 days and a letter from employer with forms and pay slips etc.

What hotel did you stay in, for how much and where was it?

Stayed in the Swiss Garden, for 540MR for 2 nights. Good location and great hotel, although their are many cheaper. I decided to treat myself. Its a taxi ride to the Thai embassy, and after its a real long walk but at least you get to see the KL sights. I booked through latesavers.com

  6. Hi everyone,

I have been working in Thailand for around 3 months now and am coming to the end of my 3-month non-immigrant B Visa and 3-month work permit. My company is happy for me to get another 3 months but I am confused on what I need to do.

My company suggest I go to Penang to get another 3 month visa, however, i have been told by a few people that i can just go to a border (I.E. Burma or Hat Yai) and get stamped for another 90 days. I am only going to be working with this company for another 30 days and after that i will be traveling thailand until visa runs out (remaining 60 days), before i return back home.

I am a New Zealand Citizen, 21 years of age.

Any information any one can provide would be very helpful to me.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

    Jason

I'm not an expert on this one, but if you have a 3 month single entry non immigrant B visa and its about to expire, then you will probably need another one. And this means another trip to an embassy overseas, not just a border run.

So I guess your company is correct.

Go to Penang or KL better, as you might be able to get a 1 year multiple entry and save yourself some money. and time.

    Good luck

But if you are going on your travels, and not working then go to the border and get another 90 day stamp, (first get the Visa altered at Thai immigration for multiple entry). Good Luck :o
