I recently watched one of those Discovery Channel 'DEA' programs and they were up to the same kind of thing. Someone would get busted and they were given a choice, inform on those higher than them in the 'chain' or go to jail.

I seen on the bbc news this morning that 14 pensioners that live in countries that dont get yearly rises in there pension money to fall in line with inflation, will have there cases heard today by the european court of human rights, if they overturn the decission made by the british government, then it could open the floodgates for uk pensioners living in thailand getting the pension money they should get

Have been going back and forth every 2 months for several years. Best tip is to book a reasonable time ahead if possible. Out of the high season (Dec to March) you can usually get a return for £350 to £425 if you book at least ten weeks ahead but it often goes up to £450 to £500 if you leave it another week or so and I have never detected it getting mega-cheap as the flight date approaches - quite the reverse.

The cheapest flight booked even a month ahead rarely goes above £500 out of season, if you can stand Jet!. I would not be too pessimistic about your 'bargain' disappearing quickly. [A few flang I met say Jet is quite ok, though I have never tried - even Slum Dog Millionaire does not erase my business flight memories of Mumbai airport as a hel_l-hole].

Try opodo.co.uk if you are travelling from the UK. I don't know that it's the best but they have never put a foot wrong for me over 20+ return flights.

1,000 baht will get you a basic room and probably not much else.

2,000 baht may get you a 4 star hotel with breakfast these days.

I just searched a bunch of them and ended up with Majestic Suites for 1200 baht. (includes breakfast but not free wireless internet)

Ive stayed at majestic suites 3 times, great little hotel, close to the night life and yet very quiet in the rooms

I am not sure if this is the right post and I am sure there is no specific answer, but it is worth a try!

I am assuming in most cultures other than Thailand, the dating is about the same? Boy meets girl, ask's girl on a date, they go have fun, split the bill or the guy pays, and they do it again and again until they see if they are compatible right?

Which leads me to trying to figure out Thai girls/women. I am out and about and have no trouble meeting 2-5 girls a day, get their phone numbers, try to meet out at a restaurant, since I don't go pick them up with my car like "WE" do. This is where it goes about a thousand different directions with the Thai girls! The main problem is, whatever their agenda is, they just assume since I have lived in Thailand for awhile, I am able to "guess" their specific agenda out of a thousand different directions, but, they are all under the belief that "All" other girls have the same exact agenda! If you can understand what I am saying.

So that is where the fun begins. Some show up with another family member, girlfriend etc, that seem to nose their way into the date, and want to order everything on the menu and only eat 1/4 of it. So what should have been a $500baht date, is now $2500baht, plus the, "no more bus, need pay for taxi" from the uninvited party! Right, she just went to the bottom of my list, but it is not her fault, or is it? Or, the girl comes alone, we have an OK, time, no talk about exclusivity, future plans, dating etc, no response good or bad, and then I don't see them because I get the SMS, "I busy now, take care" Huh? What the heck is that all about! So I leave them alone, then a week later get the "Why you dont call me, why you dont take care me" and 100 other responses that are similar.

But, I am finding a bit of a pattern, in that many of them just assume since you went on a date, that you are now boyfriend/girlfriend and are willing to "Take care lady", which is not specific to anyone but "That" particular girl!

I guess what I am looking for, what is really the norm for Thailand, because I have heard, seen and had a hundred different outcomes and request, from "must meet family" to "see you next time"

What I am trying to figure out is, maybe how many dates? What does "Take care lady" mean to them, because I have no clue and they are too shy to tell me which of the 1000 different directions it should go? Are some actually expecting me to support them, marry them, meet the family after 1-3 dates??

Like I say, I am kind of looking for a solution to know what I am getting into, and what is the reasonable norm? Or should I just become a monk now and get it over with???

I made an online hotelreservation and paid right away online.

Today I received a mail with "the hotel has room availbale only 3 nights (Based

on first come first served)"

The last sentence worries me because there is no guarantee. And after a long flight I will be too tired to search for an other hotel (in case I am not the first one to come and to be served )

I tried to call them, the customer service is supposed to be available 24/7. All I heard was an answering machine.

I don't know what to think. I already paid, can't reach them and I have only 1 day to make an other reservation.

What is your idea about this? Are you familiar with this online bookingservice?

i dont know about hotel thailand, i always use saswadee or asia rooms and they have always been spot on and have never let me down

HI i can see that some of you are struggling so i thought i would put my 2 pennies worth ln. 12 years ago my life was a complete mess due to many years of alcohol and drug abuse and if i didnt do somthing, i would either be dead or end up in prison for a very long time and i decided that i had HAD ENOUGH!!! I had been to few aa meetings in the past and instead of listening to the similarities, i listened to the differances and went away thinking , well, none of what some those aa people have said has happened to me,so i am not an alcoholic and anyway, those aa people are some kind of cult, so i carried on drinking for about another 5 years. Things got worse and worse. Eventually i thought, ive HAD ENOUGH of all this sh-t ,I NEED HELP, so i went into rehab and started to WORK THE TWELVE STEP PROGRAM.At first it was very painful and people were telling me, alcohol and drugs are just a symptom of this illness and i needed to address what was going on deepdown and i need to work this program so that it becomes part of me. They also said if i did what was suggested , i would very slowly get better. Guess wot!! they were right!!!and its the best thing i ever did. About a year after leaving rehab they offered me a job and for the last 11 years i have been giving back to others what was freely given to me. My life today is good, i have ups and downs like anyone else, but i use THE TWELVE STEPS to deal with any problems that come up. So i say to you HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH AND ARE YOU WILLING TO GO TO ANY LENGTHS TO GET SOBER???? and when i say sober, i dont just mean stop drinking, i mean STOP DRINKING AND HAVE A HAPPY CONTENTED LIFE!!! also its not just meetings that keep you sober ITS WHAT YOU DO IN BETWEEN!!! I have not had an urge to drink for twelve years a day at time and if it can work for me, it will work for you. thanks

i have only had this feeling 3 times in my life. the first time was in highschool and she moved away during the summer, unrealized love, never to be entirely forgotten. the second time was when i met my now wife, who i knew i was in love with and wanted to spend the rest of my life with 5 minutes after meeting her - that was five years ago and we have been together ever since.

obviously i go out into the world and feel lust for other women. that is easy to handle as it is brief and temporary. this is something more powerful. i feel like it is ripping my insides out. every inch of my body is aching and i have barely been able to eat. i cannot get her out of my mind.

what am i supposed to do? the last thing in the world i want is to hurt my wife. on the other hand, i am only a human being and to push away feelings like this, also feels wrong. we are only alive for so long, should we not embrace feelings like this? what kind of life philosophy is repression?

You cant help the way you feel but you can help what you do about it. Avoid this woman and and eventually these feelings will go away. In terms of avoiding rain during the rainy season your best bet is Kho Samet - it is statistically the driest of the Thai Islands during the wet season - Very often dry when all other places are suffering a downpour.
