  1. Thanks for informing us it was Jomtien.

Now for the second question, were you screened out at the entry desk where a lady checks your paperwork, or were you formally rejected at the actual retirement desk?

In case it was the entry desk, I would go back and find a way to talk to the people at the actual retirement desk.

Your report is going to be helpful to a lot of people but I just want to get full confirmation that they have REALLY changed their enforcement policy. Which is certainly very possible.

I will add an editorial comment here.

As many know, Jomtien has been enforcing correctly under the national rules for many, many years.

Any applicant would REASONABLY expect them to continue to do so unless there was a formal announcement of a rules change.

Anyone caught in the net of such an announcement, where it was TOO LATE to comply for them, seriously, shouldn't there be a GRACE PERIOD for such people?

I was screened at entry desk and everything was ok....it was the guy who serviced outside the retirement desk who refuse after a "small talk" with the guy behind the retirement desk,....maybe because it was close to lunch time !!!

I'm normally very impressed with the new attitude at Jomtien office and think they have improved a lot....but when i'm "sure" i am are correct and they turn you down, i'm not not very impressed !!....otherwise i have use another option, if they not change these option as well ):

  2. Based on the national rules, they are not correct, but it doesn't matter if that's how they are now enforcing.

The seasoning is required when using the full 800K baht method though.

But some offices do enforce as you report.

When you say Chonburi immigration, which office?

    Jomtien, or not?

In any case, it would be big news if the JOMTIEN office now requires bank account seasoning for COMBO retirement extensions applications.

Perhaps it is a case where the amount of your income relative to your banked money was considered too low. Not in the rules that it matters though.

Another question, were you screened out at the entry desk or did you actually make it to the retirement officer to be formally rejected there?

Sometimes the entry desk people aren't fully familiar with all the details of enforcement and could have been confused knowing that 800K applications require the seasoning.

    Jomtien

I asked them to show the paper where it show balance has to be seasoning... they show me the english translation, but the paper do not mention anything of seasoning balance when using combo...anyway they still claim balance has to seasoning, My extension has to be renew end of this month and they told me to leave to another country and obtain new non-o....

  4. I also live next to Mabprachan Lake and this has going on the last 10 days or more, my connection during the day between 10 am to 4 pm is reasonable, i noticed they use IP 110.xxx.xxx during day time but later change to IP 119.xxx.xxx and if you are "lucky" you get download 0.02 Kbps after 4 pm... and it is from thai server !!

I have been told they are waiting for some spareparts from Bangkok and should arrive next week !!!, but if its true, i dont know.

  5. Anyone use this service and can recommend this so call premium service ? (i'm in Mabprachan area)

Are their Onnet/CAT bandwith much better and reliable for streaming TV from Europe than their standard service 14mb/1mb inside Thailand

At the moment True and 3BB are not an option as they do not cover yet, where i lived.

I'm not looking for raw speed but a stable and reliable connection to servers outside Thailand.

When using my VPN and DNS from overplay.net only Netflix are running perfect, other solution to optimise streaming would be appreciated.

    BTV prices:

Standard 14mb/1mb are 1490 THB/month incl. TV channels (fair enough)

Onnet 20/2 nearly 30.000 THB/year and paid up front (way out, unless quality are quite good)

  6. Anybody know why their international bandwith has been so bad the last 2-3 month, when streaming on slingbox HD-Pro the Kbps is between 300-800 rate. Before between 1100-1400 and stable. When using AIS 3G i easily get 1400 Kbps rate.

Visit and call their office 4 times, standard reply...we will send tech. tomorrow ! nobody turn up, not even Call back, last week they suggest me to buy their On-net service, ok but can i try one month ? No Miiister..you has to pay for 1 year in front !! Nearly 30.000 Thb by the Way

  7. Normally you can travel, with a re-entry permit, but must be back in Thailand before the date you have to go back to immigration. A multiple would only be valid till your current permission to stay, that is way a single is recommended while under consideration.

After you recieve the extension you can can get a single or multiple.

Dear Mario - thanks for reply, however my current multi entry expire 12. nov and i have to travel abroad 20. nov and back 28 nov. will they issue a single entry while i'm waiting for extension ?

  8. Is it possible to travel aboad when i'm waiting for my renewed extension of stay (marriage) which are due 12 dec. I got the stamp in passport "Application of stay is under consideration" by immigration last week

My plan was to renew my multi-entry when my extension are ready, if possible to travel, will they only give single-entry or do you they accept multi-entry

    Thanks in advance

  9. 1. Yes apply with 30 days remaining.

    2. You will be applying for a one year "Extension of Stay" based on having a Thai wife, not getting another visa. So no, you will not have to leave after 3 months.

    3. Documents required seem to vary from one office to the next, perhaps a good idea to check with your particular office to see what they require.

Thanks for your prompt reply and assistance

  10. I'm currently on my second year of retirement extension and it is due for renew 11. november this year. I have the 400K THB in bank since 6. august to meet the 3 month requirement. The reason for change the status of visa is because of the unstable exchange rates, i'm not old enough to get pension so money come from our off shore bank. I have been married with my wife (thai) for more than 10 years and we have 1 child together, and own our house since 2004 (we have blue and yellow tabien ban book) I'm aware of paperwork needed for marriage visa, but need further help as follows:

    1. Do i have to apply at immgration office one month before my current retirement extension expire ?

    2. when i get marriage visa, do i have leave to TH every 3 month the first year or do i automaticly get extension ?

    3. are there other paperwork excluded these from police order which will help to get it easier at imm. office and to avoid further visit

  11. I have to extend my third year retirement in 2 weeks, and have my 800K transfered next week due to "normal procedure" i.e. a couple of days before extension date. Any who know if they show mercy due to this short notice between enforcement / extension

Read the first post again and transfer the money NOW!

In general I would like to remind poeple you can extend early and do not have to wait till your extension almost expires. Doing you extensions early gives you time in case you need to get some extra documents or if the rules change. Your extension will always start from the day the current extension of stay ends.

    Just for info...

Went to Mapthaput Imm. Office today, "no mercy" they also now comply with the rules !! i.e. 800K for 3 month, before they have the same policy as Pattaya imm.. But they gave me extension for 90 days, and then i can get another extension for one year...

  12. If you are using the 800K in the bank only (no embassy income letter) you now must season the money for three months for subsequent extensions. Before this change which is EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY there was no money seasoning requiring for such subsequent extensions at Pattaya. In other words, THERE IS NO GRACE PERIOD IF YOU ARE CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS CHANGE (as usual).

First time extensions as before, the money needs to be seasoned for two months.

I have to extend my third year retirement in 2 weeks, and have my 800K transfered next week due to "normal procedure" i.e. a couple of days before extension date. Any who know if they show mercy due to this short notice between enforcement / extension

  13. I have declared pre-existing conditions as hypertension and kidney stone when i got my individual health insurance made in january 2008. Iin the policy pt. 23 they mention that after 2 years from first commencement date Bupa cannot refuse to pay any claims for pre-existing condtions, unless such pre-existing conditions have been endorsed. Can someone verify that after 2 years, Bupa will pay for these pre-existing conditions, as i feel these 2 conditions cover a great percentage of illness.

  14. Agree with Tywais. I understand that the entry on june 16 was on a non-O and you extended your permission to stay on june 27. That would would mean the 90 day clock started june 27.

Note that you can do it by mail and have a window of 7 days before till 7 days after you should make your 90 day reporting. So doing it on 19 Sept. would be good under both dates. But the first time you applied for an extension of stay is considered reporting your 90 days. Subsequent extension of stay however not!

You understand it correct, good idea with 19th sept.

    Thanks all for your help,

  15. My last arrival to thailand was 16 june and got my stamp admitted stay to 13 sept. based on my old (first one) non-imm. O visa. I got 1-year extension at the imm.office on 27 june - now my questions:

    1. Do i have have to make my notification at imm. office based on my arrival 16 june - 90 days = 13 sept

    2. Or shall I use the date 27 june when i got my extension of non-O (27 june - 90 days = 25 sept.)

    Thanks in advance

    - Anyone have experience living in expat communities there with their kids?

    - Anyone have good links to the communities?

I really want something with activities we can walk or bike to so I don't have to worry about arranging a car.

    Thanks :o
