  1. Rain rain go away, come again another day. Daddy wants to play, so rain rain go away!

I'm ready for sonkran festivities! Got a new super saoker! a rubber pond liner for the back of the truck! I just hope everyone is ready to get wet again!

Seriously, It's terrible that this is going on when so many have travel plans to see family in the south in a couple of week. We thought it would be nice to come a week early and spend some time b4 everyone arrives.

Hows the road from Krabi south to Ao Lek/ Phukett on highway 4 ? Anyone traveled that way lately?

  2. We allways buy a seat for our child, upon arriving at the gate we ask to be seated in the bulkhead. Never had a problem getting the seats. Most flights are overbooked and crowded. This is our reason. Oh, and we fly from Miami two times per year. She's made the trip four times.

They allways allow passangers with small children on first, so you can roll up to the planes door in the baby stroller. There, they will stow it until you land.

We used a bassinet only once when she was 5 months. She hated it! Mommy sleeps in the two seats and baby sleeps on daddys lap, on top of a pillow. I can't sleep on planes.

We bring a portable DVD player with a few of her favorite shows, an array of small soft toys, plenty of snacks and fruit. Bottled water is allways available on the plane

Her favorite spot while awake is playing on the floor, plenty of room at the bulkhead in front of our three seats. She likes me to carry her to the back of the plane to get a snack a few times. One of our 3 legs, LA to BKK is 17 hours nonstop,, so keeping her mind occupied and happy is my main objective. Thaiair allows me to sleep on the bulkhead floor with her, if there is no turbulance.

Bring a towell or something soft to lay on the changing table located in the bathrooms, fasten her/him down good in case of turbulance.

    Have a safe trip,

  3. It is VERY difficult to get a tourist visa from Thailand to the US, especially since you are now married. I have tried and tried for many of my wifes family to get a tourist visa and all but one, were rejected for failure to show proof that they will return. Her oldest sister was granted one because she has a high paying job with a japanese firm, a large home paid in full, and alot of money in the bank. I have tried everything and wasted alot of time and money trying to get those tourist Visas. Trust me when I say everything!

There is a site called visajourney.com. It was where I found help to bring my wife to the US. We got a fiance visa, from start to finish it took 6 months. We come and go to the US as we please.

Now that you are married, it might take a little while longer. I suggest you start right away. I think it is a k3 spousal visa on form I-130. Try this link.

As far as I know, this will be your best way to bring her back and forth.

    good luck,

  4. Our daughter will be taught of this custom and its true meaning and beautiful part in a Thai wedding. In hopes she will tell the story to the lucky man who wishes to marry her. Proving to me, my wife, and herself that he is worthy for her hand, and financially able to provide a good life for her.

I was told by my wife of her custom of sinsod in a loving way. Out of the utmost respect for her father and mother, and devotion to my wife, I accepted it, and lovingly gave, without expecting it to be returned.

  5. Hi all,

I am planning to fly down to Krabi for a few days when I arrive in Thailand about October 22nd, before heading up country to Surin. I have not been down there before so I am asking for some information about hotels and nightlife. I plan on hiring a car from the airport if this is possible, and driving to wherever the hotel is and touring around for a couple of days and also renting a boat for a day to tour the islands. I will be coming with my wife and 3 year old son, but I also like a drink (nothing wrong with that), and deserve one after being stuck in Iraq, and don't want to be stuck in a remote location. So my questions are:

    1. Can I hire a car from the airport and what type?

    2. Ideally I would like a hotel right on the beach and willing to pay upto about 7000 Baht, but can pay more if need to. Which hotels can anyone recommend?

    3. Which is the best beach in Krabi (white sands and scenic views), and is there any nightlife or ways to get where there is, rather than being stuck in one location.

    4. What will the weather be like this time of the year.

    5. Can I rent a boat (driver included), this time of year to tour the islands and best place to do this.

I have checked Asiarooms and Agoda but would like first hand information by Thaivisa members. Any help and recommendations are greatly appreciated and please give as much explanation or ask any questions you like.

    John.....

Good hotel...... The Cliffs. Stayed there a dozen times, love it! Walking distance to the beach, restaurants, night life, good food in house. Pick up and return to airport. Take a local cab, (back of pick up truck) To and from Krabi Town, Behind Vogue Department Store is a very good night market with restaurants,(Two Seasons Restaurant is my choice) and rides for children. A block away at the river, you can hire every type of boat,,cheap! remember to negotiate!

Better hotel.....Nakamanda. Stayed there twice, will go back again. Great food and Spa. directly on the beach. Huge pool. Very quiet and relaxing. No night life though. If you stay here, rent a SUV from the Krabi Airport, so you can drive into town or Ao Nang. Long boats with drivers come every morning to take you around the islands. Pack drinks, food and Toys and have him drop you at one of many islands.

Note: Go to Google Maps and search for Ao Nang and Krabi, Go to satalite and zoom in, search for hotels, all will show up. There is a tab "more" that will show you hundreds of photos of the areas, hotels, beaches, night life, etc. Very cool way to plan your trip.

  6. A very good gift is one that keeps giving. Buy a fruit tree like a mango or durian and plant it in her yard for her. She will think of you everytime she picks a fruit. And if your staying there for a few days, bring veggie seeds like thai long bean, eggplants, basil, cucumbers, also and plant a small garden. Bring the bag full of fruit also like your friends have said.

These will not cost too much and is VERY thoughtful.

  7. Hi,

I'm staying in Railay East over New Year and leaving Krabi on 4th Jan - flying at 10.10am with Thai Airways.

Am I going to have enough time to get to the airport via boat and taxi....? Assume I need to be at the airport at least 1 hour before...

What time to boats start running from Railay?

    Thanks

Theres long boats running at dawn. 5:30 am from Ao nang. You'll have plenty of time.

  8. Tried texting her if she could give me reason, was it something i did and why not end it like friends? Why this silent breakup when we had so much fun all of the sudden?

No answer. Tried calling her but she hang up on me i think. So i guess this is 100% ended.

Another part of getting her parents approval was the " IS HE A TOTAL WIMP? TEST.

I hope you didn't act like this during your relationship.

Oh, wait, didn't you get mad, turn your back on her, walk away for a day, giving her the silent treatment?

If I were her father, There is no way I would allow her to ever see you again.

  9. Not thinking about the money, but wondering more if she pretended to like me. Hope she gives me answer tomorrow. If she met someone else fine ! She angry with me and has doubts fine! I am ok with all those reasons, its her life, her decisions. But if she has been playing a game then something is very wrong with this girl, since she was so against girls like this. I have to find out so i know what to watch out for next time. But i will be trapped next time just as easy, how the heck can you believe someone is lying when they have tears down theyre chin and say they love you so much? Its impossible. If she has been playing me i cant be with a thai woman period, i can never trust em.

I don't think she was playing you at all. If she introduced you to her parents, she had every intention in continuing a relationship with you. Now that the parents are involved, you were put to a test.

"WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR DAUGHTER? TEST". $1500 US is an amount that can be easily withdrawn from any ATM on any day. You had a problem obtaining the funds, this scared her and proved to her parents that you are not financially capable of taking care of their cherished daughter. THEY decided, you failed their test.

I am sure she still has feelings for you. She had high hopes that you were the one. Now her parents have said "NO".

I was put through the same test. (To prove my financial qualifications). So, yes, I know abit about what you are going through.

Now, YOU will have to prove to her and her parents that you will be able to give her a good life with financial stability. Prove to her that you own a home. Prove to her that you have a good paying job. Prove to her that you have at least a years salary in the bank. Then you will win her back and recieve her parents approval.

    Love will overcome all walls.

  10. We love "The Cliffs". Have stayed there half a dozen times and we might go next or the following weekend. Generally, rooms start at 3100 baht. Unless you get one of the suites. (Which I highly advise). The chef is a good friend of my wifes and is brilliant. She has a mango green curry that is sooo good.

Rent a car from the airport. It does rain here, and the seas get pretty rough to take the longboat out some days, but hop in the car and explore the whole area. Lots of cool places to see, temples, national parks, night markets, caves. and shopping. Don't confine yourselves to just Ao Nang, you'll be missing out alot of what Krabi has to offer.

To me, this is the best time to come! The fruit season is in full swing!

    Have fun,

  11. May I suggest first staying there for a month or two and get to know the area. I live in Ao luk but do business in Krabi. I rent a room from "B and B Guest House". Clean, cold air, cable, fridge, very nice people, even rent you a motor bike, for 3,500 baht a month! It's by the Vogue Shopping Center.

At that price you can take your time to find your perfect home.

    Good luck,
