  1. Sen Mee - rice vermicelli, the finest type

Wun Sen - transparent noodle, supposedly healthiest one

Sen Lek - thicker than Sen Mee

Sen Yai - the widest type, heavily preservative added. "Better avoid."

    Bamee - egg noodle

    Kuayjap - straw-like white noodle

To my understanding, MSG is unavoidable unless home cooking.

  2. According to this site:

    http://www.siamtaxitour.com/ttaxi.html

The return trip by taxi will cost you 11,500 THB. So forget it.

Coach or Nok are easy, reasonable price and recommended for Nakhon Phanom but the real problem lies at your destination, Na Thom.

I don't think there is a tourism development of any kind in Na Thom, hence less likely that someone would start an accommodation service. You could hire a "Skylab", a modified motorbike with passenger seats but then again it is unlikely that they will be happy to take you that far.

I would recommend that you try Van + driver for Hire. I've googled two for you, the pages are in Thai so just call 'n ask them.

    Nakorn Phanom:

    Khun Atip 087-228-0604

    Udonthani:

    08-2899-0949 / 08-1578-1113

They've got a few photos of the van here

Price they qoute normally fuel excluded.

Google maps coordinates of Na Thom: 17.834869,104.05391

Good luck with your adventure and if you found her make sure you come back and write us the story.

  3. She is required to get a visa unless she is a government official. Thai citizen don't need to apply for visa when border passing but they certainly must if flying into the country.

    Embassy:

    132 North Sathorn Road, Silom

    Tel: 02 233 2237, 02 234 4789

    E-mail: [email protected]

    Visa dep op time: 8am – 4.30pm

She will need a passport (and a copy of it), 2 photos, application form and a fee of 1,100 THB. Not 100% sure about the required documents so contact the embassy or hire your travel agent which is the easiest way.

    Hope this help!

  5. If I was your landlord, a good 1-1/2 year-long tenant is a point I would consider too. If everything else is in a good shape the owner should say Mai Pen Rai and pay the bill, that's my opinion.

  6. I am thinking of taking a trip to Koh Si Chang in the next couple of weeks and wanted to verify from where the ferry departs? On the K S C website it says the ferry departs Koh Loy, is this correct?

I always thought the departure was from another pier a little further south.

Yes, you will have to board the ferry at Koh Loy.

Here is the exact Google Maps' coordinates 13.175246,100.91971 . Just fill these numbers in the search box of maps.google.com and the green pointer is right on the top of actual ferry to Koh Si Chang.

  7. Has anyone mentioned the G&M German Sausages yet?

This sausage factory is in the middle of nowhere, unbelievable.

Yes, I once went to their sunday lunch buffet, 150 bahts, amazing, but I would be unable to return there. If someone can draw a map or edit a Google picture and post it, that would be nice.

    Phil

I'm going to ask a friend who knows the location well to take me there again (of course he will have a free lunch) and I'll take note on the way.
