  1. Why don't you just get a UK engagement visa, which last 6 months. This way you can both live legally in the UK, find out if you both like it and don't upset anyone by getting married and not telling them. This avoids the need to get married before coming over.

If it works out and you still want a quiet one head up to grenta.

At a later date you can have a ceremony in Thailand.

The sin sot is just for show i gave my wifes parents 5m baht in cash, they looked good in front of there friends and the money was back in our joint account the following day. If she is not a bar girl its fine.

    good luck any way

    Thanks for the update PKRV.

When do you think the communal areas will be complete? I have had an email from the park asking me to inspect my unit at the end of April. I told them i will probably be over in July, and they seemed happy with this. I am in no rush, and hopefully by the time i complete the pound will have risen.

Asian Motiffs will be inspecting my unit in March, which will hopefully give me a clearer indication of time scales. They also said a few of their clients had completed.

I still think, even with all the delays, that the Park is by far the best development. All the others have lots of small units, which in my opinion ruin the exclusivity of the project and my the communal facilities overcrowded.

I am looking forward to seeing it finished, and being able to use it.

  3. Although Samui is not 'controlled' by the mafia, they certainly have a huge influence on the island and take huge revenues directly/indirectly from vital infrastructure improvements, and you are foolish if you think otherwise.

As for the airport Bangkok airways built in, own it and quite frankly should be able to do what they want with it. If you don't want to pay the fares get the ferry. Thats how capitalism works after all.

However as is happening in the Uk there are anti competition laws, which seem a little communist in my humble opinion. It does give you slightly more choice and you can earn star alliance rewards etc.. but as previously stated the price is the same!!

Samui is too full anyway, so clearly the expensive flights are not putting too many people off.
