I went to Bandom Hospital last week to do my medical check for extension on my Non-Imm O visa. This time they took a bloodtest for syfelis and an X-ray on my lungs. And I had to pay 990 Bath for this.

The "good old days" at the upper picture must be 3 decades ago, and how many cars could you see in the streets at that time and how many today. I have said iy before, the roads in Samui is the worst in Thailand when you look at the traffic

I think you have pointed out tg¨he real problems for the trafic jam on Samui, But dont expect that the authorities are going to do somthing about it.

Roads on Samui are small, relatively narrow, and poorly maintained. They are also very poorly designed, signed and engineered - couple this with unrestricted access to motor vehicles from the mainland and the preponderance of holiday maker/foreign drivers especially on 2 wheeled transport you have a perfect storm for RTIs and traffic jams.
It would help if vehicles were required to have a permit to be on the island in order to cut down the number of vehicles and a blanket island speed limit might help.
However, true to form, these measures in Thailand are virtually unenforceable.
the conclusion that the local authorities have given scant consideration to the real probes of traffic on the island is unavoidable.
One just has to look at the conflicting and over-supplies of public transport on the island.....taxis, Song Teaws, minivans and tour buses have now been joined by a public bus service. More and more vehicles are being poured onto the roads without any consideration for need or function......add to this a rudimentary unplanned road system and you have a recipe for chaos and disaster.

I agree that there is a bright side and a dark side of Samui. I was at a party last night at Chong Mon beach and it was so beatiful and quite, then I had to drive home and that was the dark side of the moon

There have been lot of traffic jams this month. Exspressly between 18.00 to 20.00 in the evening. And I wonder when will they repair the surface of the road on Samui. The roads here must be the worst in Thailand.

Khun Per. You must remenber that in Thailand a minimum or normal income is 300 bath a day, So 1400 bath for 10 kilometer you talk about is nearly 5 days workpay for a Thai person. In your country this will probebly be less than 2 hours workpay. Think of that,

They should also demand that the local government to repair the very bad roads outside the ring road on the Island. It contribute to lot of accidents.

Lots of maintenance work on the high voltage cable during the last couple of weeks.
That's probably why you had some power cuts.
I do not belive they make maintenance in the middel of the nights.

If you rememer 4 years ago the central goverment granted 900 millions bath to make asphalt on the roads in Samui. And what has happened? Half of the Ring road is been taken care of, The other half from Nathon- Maenam and to Fishermen Village is still in very bad condition. And the down part of Gost Road must be the absolut worst road in Thailand. Did you say IMPROVEMENT?

I picked up my passport yesterday after replying for 1 year non-emm. O visa. I asked one of the staff if it was their demands that we had to have X-ray and blood test. And the answer was no, so the idea must come from Bandon Hospital in order to squeese us farnangs for more money.
