  1. Whoever wins the current political ding dong, their moment of triumph could be brief. This article from the telegraph. What will you be doing as the end of the world approaches ?

What will I be doing??? Something tanned, sexy and half my age. Way to go !!!

Cost? 500 baht all night so plenty of time there :o

  2. Sometimes it is necessary to carry large amounts of cash. Judges, politicians and BIB don't like to take checks or master card.

Large amounts of cash, yes...but 9 million baht????

I have carried large amounts of cash here, but nothing like that. And I certainly was not leaving it in a taxi.

I smell an urban legend here.

Think of all those 'left behind' secret documents in a taxi and you can understand why it is easy to forget 300k :o

  3. I'd rather get beaten up than pretend I am Dutch !!! :o

    ????????

The Dutch are cool people!!! Yes, I know a few.

    OT

Who gives a sh*t what some may think? Brits rule and 'they' have tried to rule over us for centuries and have failed every time, so, stuff 'em all :D

  4. Most thai used to eat rabbit, dog, rat, etc.

But Nongwhyay is right. Most "Gratai" today is keept like a pet.

Same dog. But before many eat dog (of course not there own)

I don't think anybody will make a lot of money on rabbits in Thailand.

My plan, when I go to retire, is to raise rabbits for my own consumption. Tastes a lot like chicken! :o

    Then eat chicken.Why the headache.

Some people say snake taste like chicken.

    tHEN EAT CHICKEN.

Some people say people taste like chicken - then eat PEOPLE (er, I mean chicken :D )

I thought people tasted like pork? The crispy skin a bit like 'cracklin' ?

Chicken is 10 a penny. Humans a bit rarer in the pot :D

    Horse meat anybody?

Hmmm, Thais do not like to eat fluffy bunnies? Strange place that I learn something more about each week :D

  5. Where to go and What to do

Eating, drinking and dancing on an evening.

    Not a definitive guide.

I will state here and now that the opinions given here are personal opinions of myself and friends who frequent these places regularly. They are meant as a guide for those who might wish to visit and not to be taken as fact.

Moon Beautiful - Restaurant near Sawan Park.

English / Thai music with 2 bands playing. Not too loud & in your face. Food good. Open until 4 a.m. Usually piped music after 1 a.m. Big screen + 2 smaller tv's for sports etc. Has 1 air con room with large screen tv. Staff has large turnover but service is usually good. Sometimes food not quite what ordered. Beer reasonable prices. Same for mixers.

Brod Aird - Near Sawan Park

Seating at tables with an inside balcony upstairs. 2 bands playing. Music mainly Thai with the odd English song. Rock / Heavy / Medium. Loud!! Food Good. Beer / mixer prices fair. Some staff talk English. Efficient and friendly service. Thais more Farang friendly here too. Tables usually have enough free before 10 p.m. Can book tables for up to 8 / 10 people if you can speak Thai. (They usually remove reservation at 10 p.m. or so). Has 1 large screen visible from balcony or right side (as you enter). Good age range here. Very busy after 10-15 p.m. or so.

    Clubhouse - Near Sawan Park

A nightclub. More a place for the younger ones say under 35. 1 band (sometimes 2) playing. Thai music. Loud!! Staff not so efficient. Entry fee 100 Baht. Use ticket for 1st drinks. Usually empty mid-week. Weekend can be very busy. Prices good. Food OK but not the best by far in our experience.

    Pimarn Hotel :-

    Collection Pub

A quieter place. Usually 2 bands play. Often 1/3 Farang Music. Somewhere comfortable for the older minded people. Music medium volume. Now Expensive compared to other places. Friendly staff. Menu in English / Thai. Some staff speak Thai. Clean and tidy. Large screen tv + smaller tv. Very good service. Can book table.

    D&D

For younger people. More a nightclub. Good Thai music. Staff friendly. Expensive. Need I.D. (No I.D. = no entry). The only place so far that I have experienced any violence (that was Thai on Thai).

    Ban Konwan

Generally under 35's. Good live music. Very busy - especially after 10 p.m. Often no tables available after 10-30 'ish. Service good to indifferent. (indifferent for Farang when busy in our experience). Expensive. Food often warm, not hot. Staff friendly. Thai people here also seem friendly to Farang.

    Ban Suan Hotel

Food reasonable. Staff often slow. Few speak English. Prices OK. Music more Thai Folk / Country. has 2 tv's. Not a place to spend a full evening. Has 1 large air con room with large screen tv.

    Bandisan - Near Soi Taitong

A Fish based restaurant. No music. A few staff speak English. Very popular with Thai people.

Mai Son (Coffee Shop) - Near Bansuan Hotel (on the corner opp new 7/11)

Small. Very cheap. Not so tidy. But friendly. Has 4 piece playing country / folk type Thai music. Not loud. Mainly Thais. We find a good place to start before moving on. Little English spoken.

Paradise Club - Near Sawan Park

Not an obvious place. Plenty of Ladies singing - often in short skirts etc. (you get the drift). Ladies will come sit at the table for a small renumeration. Very quiet midweek. have rarely been on a weekend so do not feel I can comment. Staff very friendly & efficient. Food good. Prices OK..

There are plenty of other restaurants on the river. One travels up and down the river while you eat.

Numerous other places to eat and drink that I am not familiar with or have visited once or twice so do not feel I can make a personal comment on.

I have omitted the several other places where you can drink, listen to ladies singing and have ladies entertain you. One where they dance on the tables. Another where 'further down the hall' you can go and book a lady for a short time.

    Madyakka needs an update :o

  6. Apart from the fact I have never seen any, I do wonder why.

Seems to me they would be a good source of cheap food. I am not partial to rabbit myself, but I know plenty of people in the West that are.

Nice to know there are some dotted around here and there.

That reminds me, not seen many horses here either. There in one near Bung Boraphet but I have not seen any others.

  7. Before, I tipped a lot. Then I was told off by some of the staff for doing so. Thai staff!! Now I tip 40 Baht for an evenings service unless the service is atrocious.

Tipping big was not for my own self esteem, because I felt sorry for the staff, or to show what a big shot I am - I'm not LOL -. I tipped big because it seemed a small amount to me. Obviously as I got to know the way of things here and was also told off I reduced my tips accordingly.

This is the art of learning, something we spend all our lives doing :o

  8. For those who go to the Pimarn Hotel please note the changes that come into effect from today [saturday 30th August 2008].

The Collection Pub moves to a new venue opposite the old Jazz Club. They have built a new room for this venue. The Band currently playing in the Collection Pub will move there.

Ban Kon Wan moves from its present location up to where the DnD nightclub now is.

DnD moves from upstairs down to where the Collection Pub is currently.

The Ban Kon Wan room is to be renovated.

You heard it here first :o

  9. 'researchers said a larger study was now needed.'

They would say that, wouldn't they. They want a grant to pay for their own lifestyle.

Anyone on suppresant drugs is liable to drive beneath their normal abilities. Like those under the influence of alcohol.

Can I have the grant money for such an obvious answer? Pretty please!!!

  10. Tonight I had a date with my ex Thai wife.

I am wondering if others have done the same? If so, what were the consequences of doing so? Was it a big let down? Did you have major problems? Did it all work out in the end?

I ask because I was told - by an old Thai flame - that Thai women do not get back with 'ex' husbands b/f. It is Mai Dee Mak.

I am not sure where this is leading - the relationship, that is - but I saw the 'smile' in her eyes tonight. Not just the facial smile. She wants to meet again, too.

    Is 2nd time around better?

Some will know better than those who have never done this before in Thailand.

Yes, I expect to get flamed by some for this, but IDGAS.

  11. The Mitsubishi 4 door Strada 2.8 GLX I have was converted to LPG.

    5 years old.

Has a 2.5 Toyota twin cam 16 valve engine.

    Auto Toyota gearbox

LPG is auto and motor in good condition.

anyone any idea what it would be worth now if I want to put it on the market for sale? Many on 12car etc are original diesel motors at 269,000 baht (or so).

Would it be more than a standard 2.8 4 door Mitsu or less?

    Ideas wanted, please.

  12. Regarding the ISP's they don't even have proper hardware, software and tech support to provide reliable service… "sir your phone line is no good, Internet is working" and now they additionally must log a gigantic amount of data every month? Maybe store all the illegally sent pornographic pictures as evidence for the sake of national security?

I bet we will have a lot of "fun" soon to come.

So, when they see me sending those illegal bedroom photos of my g/f's they will come down on me hard? Or will they get hard looking at them?? :D

P.S. Mr. Police, not that I have photos of my ladies :o

  13. A 'Sun Reader'???

    ROFLMFAO

Someone has to look at the page 3 girls - presuming they still have them?

    Burger? Not up here :o

    KFC? - We have that.

Such brain food too!! Maybe food for 'Sun Readers' ? - waits for mods to warn me about flaming 'Sun Readers' :D

Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Times not good enough for U ??
