  1. I have a 1 year non b until feb 2021 and also my work permit.

I am about the change jobs at the end of July.

Can anyone confirm the process I have go through.

    I have been told.

    1. You get a letter from your current school saying you will finish 20 days from the day you go to immigration.  (can it be more than 20 days? to give me more breathing space?)
    2. The next day your school visa lady goes with you to the work permit office to cancel your wp.
    3. The same day, the new school applies for a wp for you.
    4. You collect the visa after 6 days.    (I guess they mean collect the WP. ?  )
    5. The new school then takes you to immigration to process the new non b.

    Is this correct?
    Is 20 days enough?
Are there any things I should be aware of that might cause a hold up or problem.  As far as I know all my paperwork is in order.
I'd like to get this sorted before the big rush come end of July when the amnesty finishes.

    Any input gratefully received.
    Thanks.
  2. 2 dogs in my village are looking for a new home.

Brown and Family.  Sisters, about 1 year old, so quite lively.   VERY friendly. The white one is especially affectionate.

They have had vaccines and operation, so no babies.

They were left behind by a workers camp.  I have been looking after them, food, vet, etc... but they need a real home.

If you might be interested, please let me know.

    Thanks,

  3. I think I am correct in my thinking, I would just appreciate a 2nd option to make sure I haven't misunderstood anything.

I am changing jobs, so my current employer will cancel my visa and work permit.

I then need to fly out of Thailand and re enter getting a 30 day tourist visa at the airport immigration.

My new employer will then obtain my new non B and work permit.

I just want to check, will I automatically get 30 days? (UK passport, do I need to show evidence of anything? I obviously won't re enter Thailand with an onward ticket as I won't be leaving again once I get my new non B).

Secondly, can I leave and come back on the same day, or does this arouse some sort of suspicion?  Any place that is recommended for this?

Fairly basic, but I just want to check I have things clear in my mind.

    Thanks in advance...

  4. Friendly soi dog near my house has had 3 puppies. Her 2 brothers have been found homes but no one wants the girl.  About 7 weeks old.  People and other dog friendly.  She is lively and active.

Mum is a shy but nice soi dog. Dad is a nice friendly one.

Looking for a good home so she doesn't end up another soi dog.

She is vaccinated and waiting to be spayed, we can help with the cost.

She is a really nice dog, my larger dog wouldn't accept her in the house, otherwise I would take her.

We are in Pra Khanong, Bangkok.

  5. my friend has a 2011 MacBook pro and has never updated her operating system.

she is running osx lion 10.7.5

if she wants to get high sierra what does she need to do?

I'm no expert, from my experience i think she needs to buy snow leopard then free update to High Sierra.

if so where to buy snow leopard?  its a boxed disk package correct?

shops she has spoken too don't have snow leopard or talk about formatting and stuff, which i dont understand and seems drastic.

I'm just one VERY basic mac guy trying to help a know nothing mac person.

any input would be gratefully received, thanks

  6. Can I fix the pump directly to the water supply coming in to the house from the moobaan?

Went to homepro and they said I need a water tank.

But looking round the moobaan there are several houses with a pump but no tank.  The pump just sucks water straight from the water pipe connecting the mains to the house.

Spoke to my neighbour, he said you can do this, but its not 100% legit, you're meant to have a tank, but it will work without.

Anybody confirm this?  If it will work or not.

Not a lot of space in my yard and if I can avoid the extra cost of the tank I can live with the less than 100% legitimacy.  It's a rented house and there is an old pump here (that doesn't work anymore) already.  So I presume it can be done,

Anything to be aware of, extra low pressure? dry running pump?  I don't know.

    Any feedback greatly appreciated.

  7. I went today to change my tourist visa to non B (teacher) visa.

Everything seemed fine until they saw my PGCEi certificate.

I was quoted this (which is also in the immigration website):

6.6 The Applicant’s educational degree certificate, not less than Bachelor’s degree (must be translated into Thai or English and certified by local or overseas Embassy or Consulate of the foreigner and by the Legalization Division, Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of Thailand) (For more information, please call 0-2575-1056-9), academic transcript and evidence of TOEIC scores.

My PGCEi is not less than a Bachelor's degree, the PG means post graduate.

Has anyone else had this problem?

There also seemed to be some confusion as to what I need to do or show immigration.

The lady at immigration wasn't clear, my school spoke to her and were no clearer and the British Embassy just provided me with a "certified" copy of my PGCEi certificate.

Time is running out and I am getting the run around.

Any experience or input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  8. was there yesterday, very crowded.

    Buses to North, Northeast continue

    The Nation

Despite flooding, Transport Co has continued providing bus services to the North and the Northeast from Bangkok's Mor Chit 2 bus terminal.

Motorists heading for the bus terminal have been advised to use the Rama 6 Road to Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road or use the expressway to Kamphaeng Phet 2 Gate, or use Rama 7 and Ratchawipa Road before doing a U-turn at the kilometre-11 marker to reach Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road. The bus services will be available until flooding makes it impossible. Transport Co has already set up two back-up stations at Pathum Thani's Pratunam-Phra In for buses heading North and Suvarnabhumi Airport for those heading to the Northeast until November 20.

  9. I have heard and read about being able to do the 90 day reporting thing at Bumrungrad, but lots of conflicting information. So I dropped in today after work.

There is a mobile immigration unit that sets up in the business centre on the 10th floor of the clinic building, every 3rd saturday of each month.

Apparently most visa related things can be done there.

I had heard it was the 3rd Tuesday or Thursday, but the very nice lady said it was Saturday.

That would mean it is open on the 16th this month.

She told me to ring and double check nearer the time.

    Business Centre and Visa Extension

    02667 2070 02667 2652

Hope this helps, as far as I know there is no info on the immigration website.

  10. thanks for the advice so far.

i will definitely be going to scad rather than buying a dog, i'd much rather give a good home to a dog in need.

i said jack russell just for a gauge of size, i'd take any similar small sized mutt.

i will get a feel for the neighbours first, i know the soi quite well, its very small and most of the houses seem to have dogs, hopefully they're cool.

its a fair sized house so keeping them indoors would be no problem, im still worried about the amount of time they would be on their own though, is it fair? thats my major concern.

    once again thanks

  11. townhouses, yards and dogs etc...

I will be moving house in the summer to a townhouse with a small yard out front.

I'd really like to get a small dog, Jack Russell size.

Is it fair to leave it on its lonesome in the yard all day while I'm at work, 6.30 - 4.30 ?

Evenings and weekends I'm a complete homebody so plenty of time to catch up, but I worry its too long in the day.

Maybe get two so they can keep each other company?

An older dog that is more used to being on its own for a time?

Or is it just not a good idea?

We were never a dog family, plenty of cats and lots of looking after friends and neighbours dogs but this would be the first of my own.

I'd appreciate input from those with more experience.

    cheers

  12. Has anybody heard about or have any experience of

    Intensive Thai Language Program SrinakharinwirotUniversity

the Uni is at the far (dead) end of soi 23.

it runs three 60 hour courses, each course runs in theevening, 2 hours 6 - 8 pm, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

    9,600 baht.

Apparently it covers, reading and writing, not justspeaking.

I'm going to check it out this week, sit in on a classand see what the books are like. But any extra info or testimonials would bemost helpful.

    cheers

  13. has anybody heard anything about a shooting in Rangsit?

apparently a scandanavian guy (Norwiegan?) was shot dead on Saturday night after an altercation with some locals.

  14. Has anyone been to Vientiane recently for a B visa?

Are they hot on police checks?

I don't have one and can't find a way to get one from the UK (no online application / payment).

I was hoping to go to Vientiane in a couple of weeks, but if I need to get my police check papers, Im a bit screwed.

Do they bother asking for it there? or are they pretty easy going?

    Any recent info much appreciated.

  15. Does anyone know the current situation in Vientiane regarding police checks? Are they needed?

I was planning to go in a couple of weeks to get my B visa.

There doesn't seem to be the facility to apply / pay for a subject access report from the UK and it takes about 40 days to come through (so I'm told).

Could I get my B visa without it in Vientiane? All my other documents (both mine and the schools) are present and correct.

    Anyone been recently??

  16. can anyone tell me if, where and how my school can get me my WP using my non-im type O visa?

they tell me that they have been told its not possible, but i hear more and more people saying it is.

i want to get it sorted asap without having the hassle of getting a B type and the trip out of the country that will involve.

its driving me mad, i seem to be going round in ever decreasing circles.
