  1. Can anyone pull a miracle out of the hat at very short notice.

I am currently in the Novotel Ploenchit on business for three more days and I am urgently trying to locate an outlet that has Vietnam coffee beans available. If I had the time and the security situation was normal, I could spend a day to try to locate, but unfortunately both are against me.

    Any ideas please

Try the supermarket on the ground floor of Central Mall at the corner of Chitlom/Sukhumvit. Its just a couple hundred metres from your hotel.

  2. I had to comment..There are so many Dogs in Thailand that need a good home that to search for a particular breed is in my opinion Immoral.

    Adopt a Local Stray.

Theres plenty of orphans too, doesn't stop people having kids.

The Guy is looking for a Rotty breeder, why did you have to drop in with a snotty remark?

  3. Whatever happens over the next year the problems are not going to go away. The economy and infrastructure pretty much echo the Thai philosophy of building. Foundations don't matter because they cost a lot but cannot be seen.

However foundations support everything and I'm afraid to say the house will come tumbling down soon.

Everything in Thailand is like a house of cards or one of those games you see in resorts where wood blocks are removed.

I might be missing something but I don't see Thailand as a nation like South Korea with well educated industrious people.

In fact I'd say Thailand is the opposite. No oil, minerals or major export ability. It has been a cheap labour/cheap holiday destination but like Spain etc tourist trades move on to the next hot spot.

'I might be missing something but I don't see Thailand as a nation like South Korea with well educated industrious people.'

That is because Korea got its civil war out of the way 60 years ago, and the country became divided.

The despotic power drunk populist and his minions in the north, and the democratic and more 'western influenced' in the south.

Then the border went up, and guess who came out on top?

If it ever went to a civil war, that would be the likely outcome.

You quote Western influence like its a good thing. They got. MacDonald's out of the deal...great!

  4. Check-up packages will not do anything re your soine issues, though you can tack on a spinal xray if you like, you are going to need to see a spinal specialist for that. recommend Dr. Wicharn at BNH.

Back to the check-up packages: the packages are designed with Asians in mind and even then, not always very rational. You are not however limited to set packages, you can add on tests to them at usually a lower rate than the test would otherwise cost. Here is what you need at your age, you'll have to see which package or package plus add-ons works best:

CBC, creatinine, fasting blood sugar, urinalysis - all packages have these

Liver panel: ALT, AST, total bilirubin

Lipid panel: TC, HDL, LDL, triglycerides

    uric acid

stool for occult blood and for parasites

PSA (this is a little controversial - may want to read up on it).

A colonoscopy if you have not had one in past 1 years

    Tonometry (eye test for glaucoma)

upper abdominal ultrasound if you have a history of heavy drinking or if the liver enzymes come back abnormal, otherwise not necessary

While all the hospitals do a good job with the tests, the quality of their interpretation is often poor/perfunctory. I have not been impressed by Bumrungrad in that regards. Samitivej is very good.

I just had a recent checkup at bumungrad. I opted for the full package at 16900 bt. Was expensive but very thorough, the prior and final consultation by the Dr was excellent, there was no communication difficulties.

  5. I live in Isaan and I purchase stevia powder from the pura organic webiste in Phuket. Takes around 3 days to deliver.

Don't know if thats any help!

  6. Cannabis is an illegal drug in Thailand. It is also a potentially dangerous one. You will hear the misinformed hedonists waxing lyrical about the fact that it never hurt anyone, but they never treated psychotic or schizophrenic patients whose misery was triggered by cannabis addiction. And, smoking it is linked to carcinoma of the lungs, cvd and a number of life threatening illnesses. Misplaced sympathy for someone trafficking in drugs is mistaken, foolish and ignorant.
    .

1)The link between mental illness and cannabis is pure coincidence. There is not a shred of evidence that cannabis alone triggers these illnesses.

    2) The link between carcinoma of the lungs and cannabis is purely down to some users smoking it with Tobacco. Once again not a shred of evidence that proves it triggers CVD and other life threatening illnesses. You can bet your bottom dollar that most cases will be down to poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.

    3) An addiction/obsession to anything, anything you can imagine, might result in negative effects on your physical and mental well being. The benefits of Cannabis far outweigh the negatives. It should not be illegal just because you think a few people might abuse it.

How about Cannabis causing Paranoia and Depression?

Don't you mean possibly contributing instead of causing???

A bit like alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, junk food, masturbation, speed, coke, ecstasy, heroin, meth.....

Yes I know most smokers claim Cannabis is as harmless as drinking Lemonade. However research evidence doesn't back that up,there are dozens of websites, that list the medical harm that can be done. Here is one at random!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-205447/Cannabis-causes-mental-illness.html

I thought you were going to offer me medical research. Its article from the daily Mail...

Still, you are missing my point. There is not one shred of evidence to prove that Cannabis is the sole cause of any mental/physical illnesses. If you abuse it however, and combine it with several other lifestyle factors, then yes, there is a negative downside. But the same can be said for any other addiction or obsession. The physical and mental health benefits of Cannabis are numerous, which far far outweigh the negatives.

I'm sure we agree that a glass of Lemonade each day is good for you right? Lots of Vitamin C and other nutrients if freshly made. However, if I decide I like it so much I'm going to drink 20 glasses of it each day, I'm now at risk of becoming a type 2 Diabetic.

    Catch my drift?

Weed doesn't cause these issues. What it does, is bring certain shortcomings to ones attention.. If you are the type who cannot bear slight paranoia and depression from a few home truths due to deep reflection, then you should probably lay off all kinds of medicinal treatment. You will certainly be in no fit state to comment about the miracle plant......

  9. thanks to the.US for distabilizing the country. they should go fix the problem.

Hmmm. There were more than 20 countries involved in that attack, and the UK provided 1/3 of them. It was about weapons of mass destruction which are now believed to have been moved to Syria. Regardless, UK intelligence thought they were there as did other countries. Tony Blair stood before his leaders and said so and the UK voted to go to war.

Thailand even had troops in that attack. Your country probably did too.

    Oh well...

Wow.. You don't still believe all that rubbish do you? I didn't think there were many people like you still around.

  10. Depends on what i fancy whilst in the City centre.

Starbeams- International food, His Subs, Mexican food and Burgers in my view are excellent.

    Lorenzinos- Swiss Guy. Delicious Lasagne.

Haka Zhou- Japanese food. I probably go here the most.

Sydney Seasons- Love the Salads and Mussels here.

All the restaurants above obviously have alot more on their menu, and there are plenty of other Western establishments in the City but i don't usually go to them.

  12. It would be quite easy in Thailand to go Paleo. You can source Fresh Fruits and Vegetables from the local Markets (Organic if poss). Barbecued Chicken/Fish/Pork from roadside vendors. Unsalted Peanuts, Cashews and seeds are easy to find in most Supermarkets or from the street vendors too. When eating out you could opt for Suki Yaki or Korean barbecue minus the noodles and rice of course.

I find Paleo very interesting but i havent got the balls to go for it yet. Good Luck!
