  1. Thanks, where do I get a re-entry permit? Can I obtain one here at Chiang Mai immigration?

That tourist visa was used on entry into Thailand - you were stamped in for 60 days - if you leave that is the end of your allowed stay. You can keep the 60 day stay alive with purchase of a re-entry permit prior to travel, cost 1,000 baht and a photo. You would use that as your visa information when you return and get the same permitted to stay until date.

If you do not obtain the re-entry permit you can still return on your second tourist visa entry and get a new 60 day stamp from entry date.

  2. Thanks for all your helps guys. I had no problems (except for the delay because I had no pages in my passport) but it was a good thing because I met a lot of new friends there and I ended up staying a week longer than I anticipated. So I got my TV and my double stamp, no problem.

My new question is this: Because I had so much fun in Vientiane, I want to go back again in a couple of weeks. Because I already have a TV for Thailand for 60 days, do I have to get another stamp or is this going to cause trouble leaving Thailand when I just received a Tourist Visa?

Or since i have my TV already, can I just leave and return as long as it's within the 60 days with no problem?

    Please advise...thanks!

  3. Update: Stuck in Laos..I did everything you guys suggested. My paperwork looked great and then just as the guy was about to say pay at the counter he said, "You have no pages left in your passport" I said what does that mean? He said I have to get more pages from the US embassy. I went to the embassy they are backed up so I have to wait another day, which will delay everything even longer.

So be aware...make sure you have enough pages in your passport before coming over. I had two blank pages, but they were not "VISA" pages.

    Go figure.

  4. A couple more questions:

    1. Does it matter what you wear? (I'm not planning on going there in a tie, but I'll look respectable)

    2. I printed the form from the link on this forum (thanks) but does it need to be 2 sided or does 2 pages work?

    3. I have a few questions on the VISA form, can you open attached copy of the form I filled out, there's only a couple questions on the form.

    Thanks guys!!

  5. I'm taking the bus from Chiang Mai to Udon Thani tomorrow night (Monday night), then I'll be taking the minivan to Vientiane to get my TV. If all goes well I should receive my TV on Wed morning right? (keeping in mind the bus gets to Udon Tue morning).

My question to you is, I want to fly back to Chiang Mai. There is a flight on Wed at 3:30pm. Is it possible to go to the embassy, pick up my tourist visa, go through the border and make the flight?

    What do you think?

I really don't want to take that 13hour bus ride back to Chiang Mai.

  6. I've posted a question here and didn't get much of a response. I know some of you have the answers, could you please share? I'm sure your answer may be, "Check the forums" but I have and I still cannot find my answer.

I am an American living in Chiang Mai, I need to get a tourist visa. Is it possible to get one in Cambodia? I've read dozens of posts about Cambodia, but not a clear answer. Does anyone know if it's possible to get one?

I've been to Cambodia 2-3x in the last 6 months already. I cannot enter Thailand without a tourist Visa, so it's pretty important I make the right decision. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. Hello all, I'm an American living in Chiang Mai. I've been here for 6 months and now I need to get a Tourist Visa if I want to stay any longer. I've read up on this forums about the best places to go for the VISA, but here's where my research has taken me:

    1. Vietnam - Takes 3 days to aquire a VISA to get into the country. Otherwise it's fairly easy. My problem is cost. It costs 2,000B to get a VISA into Vietnam, the cost of flight is 6,000 Round trip from Chiang Mai.

    2. Laos - I hear this is another good country to get a tourist Visa. My problem is the bus ride, 12 hours! Normally I wouldn't mind, but I've got some health issues and I've been getting sick every few minutes.

    3. Cambodia - I would love to get my VISA here but I've already been to the country 3x in the last 6 months. Also, I hear the embassy in PP is a pain in the a** and they don't give VISA's very easily.

Am I missing anything? What would you suggest. I know the easiest way would be take the 12 hour bus ride to Laos, but seriously I'm way too sick for a 12 hour bus ride.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  8. Hello experts...I needed your advice about my situation: I know it's probably been asked 100x, but I've searched this forum several times and cannot find the answer.

My question is: I'm an American photographer, wanting to open up a small picture gallery in Thailand.

I've already found a place to rent my gallery...All the supplies, etc. I just need to take care of the legal side of it all now. What documents do I need to get a working VISA? If I can obtain a 3 month working VISA that would work, I could then request an extension if business does well. If it doesn't no problem, I'll just pack up and move back home. I'm 29 (so it's not like a retirement request)

    Please advise...

    Thanks

    Eager Photographer
