Another vote here for Christie's. Always have a beer and a bite there on the way to/from Samet.

Cheers folks.
TBH I'm really not fussed about Pattaya at all. Went there 4 years ago and left after one night - not really my sort of scene. I'd only suggested it because Siem Reap - BKK seemed like a horribly long journey, and I have access to free accommodation if I stopped off in Pattaya.
What scams are usual on the minibus? Is it just the typical 'stop off at my brothers jewellery store' type cons?

Stayed at Sinsamut 4 times now. Can't recommend it enough.

Cheers, I'll speak to my friends and see if they fancy making it a 'Cambodia' trip, rather than just visiting Ankor Wat then leaving.

Hi, looking for some advice,
What's the cost and timescale of visiting Ankor Wat when we (myself and 2 friends) leave Koh Chang. Are the tourist packages safe, and worth the money, or are we better hiring a driver?
The plan is Samet - Chang - Ankor Wat - Pattaya - BKK in a trip lasting just short of 3 weeks, so we'd rather miss Ankor Wat out of the equation if it's going to add 2/3 days travel time for the sake of one day sightseeing.
Cheers

I am looking for accommodation from 29th October till 6th November for 3 people. Could you please contact me with availability and cost?
Thanks.

Yes. Plenty.

Jitti's in BKK has a great rep, I've a few mates who are/have been there and they love it. Jitti can provide accommodation, and the food is supposed to be fantastic.
I guess from your username that you're interested in MMA also? Tiger camp down in Phuket do both MMA and Muay Thai. A girl from my gym is heading there later this year to train for a few months. Tiger have recently spent a lot of money on their facilities too, so the set up is really good.

I've just returned from Lonely Beach and I stayed at Warapura. Not cheap, but the nicest room I've ever had in Thailand.
Siam Huts is cheap, and right next to the beach.

Right, paranoia has kicked in and I'm now looking to holiday somewhere else

This is really worrying for me as my girlfriend and me are going to Samet for 2 weeks in October, and she is an absolute mossie magnet. Despite being covered in DEET for the whole trip last year she still got over 70 bites in a fortnight.
I may suggest going somewhere else this year - but she will be gutted

Tiger will look after you no matter what level of fitness you currently have.

This is an interesting topic for me. For the last 15 years I've been training in Muay Thai in the UK, and I Wai both my Kru and fellow student all the time, this gesture of respect is instilled from day one, as it is in Karate/TaeKwondo etc by bowing.
I only visited Thailand to train for the first time last year, and I found myself instinctively 'Wai-ing' all the time, moreso to my pad-holders, but also in shops, hotels and every time someone 'Wai'd' me!
I'm sure 99% of the time it was unnecessary/uncalled for, but I do it subconciously, and half the time I'm unaware that I've even done it.

I had a 12 inch machette in my 'checked in baggage' recently on a flight from UK to Thailand so you should be OK with the leatherman ;-)
Nothing sinister , needed it for the Garden and the Thai ones seem to shed the Handles too often.
I really wanted to bring home a decorative sword from my trip last year, but I assumed I'd get hammered for it even if it was in checked-in luggage?

Lumpinee and Ratchadamnern are the two main stadiums.
If you want to train, I'd recommend Jitti Gym.

I've just returned from 10 days on Ko Samet and it only rained once (and that was in the middle of the night).

Have you visited axkickboxing.com?
You'll get the best advice on where to train there.

Thanks for the advice, I had a look on Asiarooms and it does seem like a good deal. I'll probably go for that.

I am in BKK for 2 days in late October either side of a holiday to Ko Samet with my girlfriend (we're from the UK).
I want to visit the Lumpini and Raja stadiums, buy some Muay Thai stuff (shorts/gloves etc).
She wants to spend all her money in Siam Square (clothes/shoes/knock-offs etc).
Where's best to find a hotel? Am I best to find one near Siam Square and just get a taxi out to the stadiums?
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for around 1500bht?

Buy a minibus ticket from the small travel shop in the alleyway next to Christies Bar in Ban Phe.
