  1. I have had a will in place for many yrs now.  the question is about taxes and whatever monies the various govt agencies are going to take.

for example: just transferring condo to gf name land office tax will probably be some where around 5%. ( condo9-10MB) If it goes through probate or court (whatever it is callled here) does that tax still come into efffect?

    or on the other hand

does she have to pay court X% and then again to land office same 5%. meaning paying twice?

somebody here have to know someone who has died and left condo car etc to gf/wife?????????????

    thanks

  2. hi all,

Is is better to transfer these things before passing, or is it better to wait for the will to take place. Court probate etc. what ever is in place in this country.

Just worried if there is big tax break one way or another. Yes i am farong and all in thailand goes to the thai gf.

    thanks

  3. an american is marring a brit.  The american does not want to invite her family but do to social media she relents to inviting a few.  The brit does not want to invite all his family but does invite the so-called important ones. Because thats what he wants or society/ social media dictates.

Now if you have an issan (anywhere in the world issan, small scale farmers trying to feed the masses for very little money, every country have same include g8) wedding, then all family is invited, included crazy uncle felix.

    Question?  which group is happier?

or are the mods going to delete me again

  4. ok i did respond to this servey.  and i do fit the profile at spending on average of 4 holidays per year abroad. my gf of 8 yrs has managed 35+ countries and i am at over 50. only once did i take her back to my home country.  yes i get a lot of junk/advertising emails, but i would have to say it is, i think 100% from the sites that i have signed into for info on our travels. Ev eryone needs a hobby, and besides drinking away too much at too many bars locally, travelling is my escape. my health not great, so way not bucket list while i can still do. have no want to wait till i on crutches or other mobiltity help to do this. can still dance.

ps dont have fsmily but still young or sort of 56. but not going to wait till some doc say 6 months

everbody have to live their lives different

do what you makes you happy

  5. FYI - there is a good company in bkk that does mobility conversions on cars and has a electric "box' for the top of your car with a crane inside. it swings sideways opens and releases or picks up the chair. my friend bought this a couple of yrs ago and it gave him great independance. for those times and locations when a friendly thai in not around. PM me if this is something you would like more info on.

also see now that you are looking for a specialty scooter, if anyone in bkk has it this place would be the one i think

if the mods delete no. PM me

  6. did 1 a couple of months ago.  just the usual things like airfare in and out, travel insurance and where the accomadation will be, wheather hotel or invite from someones house.

i also usually buy an extra days worth of travel insurance for shenzen as that usually seems to dictate length of visa. Just in case.

the 1 difference that we did incure was spain/bls did require a letter from the bank stating the amount of funds in the bank account same as what is required for retirement visas. gf said she paid 200baht. BLS also took copy my visa and bank accounts but only copies not certified. dont know if required or not but we always go with extra docs, better than being short.

I also had the hotel just in my name, so i had to write a letter inviting the gf to stay with me. I usually use agoda and only 1 name can go down but if you phone them then they will add a 2nd name in the comments section.

this was her 3rd shenzen visa in 3 yrs.

  7. bought a 24 pack tiger cans yesterday paid 767 from wholesaler.  before increase from same place 732.  so went up 35 baht. little under 5 % increase, but i remember from other increase that wholesalers might jack the price at the start but then as everyone starts to see what everyone else is doing price drops by a few baht.

  8. i thank you for your post. it is good to hear from a thai point of view.  too many times we only here the moaning and complaining from farong on how they are being treated by police.  from your storys and that of farong stories, it does sound like the thai men are being racially profiled for urine tests..  specially in essan that might be the right thing to do.?   but still not fair.  please continue to post your points of view on anything.

  9. hi all

next month me and the thai gf are going to australia for 6 weeks.  we are starting up in cairns, renting/hiring a motorhome/caravan and heading south to adelaide.

any cool places things restaurants, the things you dont see on tripadvisor?

what about recommendations about a mobile phone/sim card.   we only need limited talk time, but will need a good amount of data. gps, and as camping not sure how much wifi we going to find.

    thanks for any good tips

  10. as southernstar says it is usually about self suffiency, money in bank for a period of time, not 1 week. return flight tickets and accomadation.  my gf just got a month tourist visa for oz yesterday but in the last 5 yrs she has 1 2 1/2 yr visa for canada a 2yr usa visa 3 seperate shenzen visas 1 england visa. plus been in and out of the many other mostly local countries that dont require visas japan hk sing etc.

no job no kids. listed as housewife even though we are not legaly married.

  11. 5 yrs ago my gf applied for a usa visa for the first time. i am canadian so it was just a tourist visa that we wanted for 3 months, they gave her 2 yrs multi entry. on application she said housewife, had a little over 100k baht in bank but we had flight tickets for various trips we had planned and hotels etc.

plus she had a canadian valid visa at the time plus in and out of 6-7 local asian countries with no red marks.

i believe they look for return airfare, means to look after her self, meaning accomadation, monies to eat etc. , and being able to do this on her own not having to rely on someone else. people do get into arguments and then what if she hasn't got her own money. then the host country has to take care of her. or she has to turn to illegal activities.

  12. i got my thai gf , or actually she got a visa for usa, about 5 yrs ago now.   as i am a canadian we first got a canadain visa as this was our first step.

i made sure she had money in the bank so as to prove she can take care of herself if we were to have a disagreement and then she would be on her own.  we were planning on 100 days in canada, and could show prove of accomadation and return flights. we had 2 trips planned to usa, 1 for a week in LA and another for 5 days vegas.  all within the 100 day window. canada gave her 2 1/2 yr visa and usa then gave her 2 yr visa. much longer than we asked for.   or could guararranty or had health insurrance docs for.. she has no kids, no nothing in thailand. bar girl ...  previously we had been to 5 asian countries and returned in appropriate times,

i believe immigration looks for funds to be able to look after yourself

    return ticket back to thailand

    prove of lodging

since then she has got 3 shenzen visas.  1 uk visa 1 china visa but that is easy to get.  been to japan 2 times korea once visa free and vn visa free.

the 3 steps and your passport copy is the biggest first steps

big bonus is if you have retirement visa in thailand

best i can do for you....

    best of luck

    just from my experieces

oh  money in gf/wife account i did 100k

padding the applicants bank account is generally frowned upon by ECO's, she would have to explain where the money came from and the answer would be from me, which the ECO has already raised as a concern, it does not give her anymore economic ties to Thailand only to me. As I have stated we are getting married so my trust of her is not an issue.

maybe i should have stated that this was what i did yrs ago. and it seems to be 1 of the 3 most looked at docs. the other 2 being return airfare and accomodation.  in the last 5 yrs she has got a multi yr canadian multi yr american 30 day england 3x euro shenzen. and a china but that does not count.

    never been denyed.

the idea being that if you were to get into an argument like many couples do, that she has enough money of her own to be able to support herself.

  14. america is the worst county in the world for double pricing..........   go to disneyland and a 1 day ticket is appox $80 but a 1 yr pass is $85 but only for the locals..   and it is this way all over the country..  worst thieves in the world.   they just say it a little more descitely than the thais.

  15. to me it sounds like the op is asking about getting a visa to thailand from vn..   but most likely by the responses i am wrong, but having said that, i am off to vn next month as well. and as a canadian i know i need a visa, but am able to get a visa on arrival. living in jomtien retirement visa.    but now the questions come up,  there are many online companies doing this.  has anyone used one of these companies and can recommend one..  is there more fees at the airport when you arrive?  what is the proceedure?

    thanks
