I have used my US credit card at the Honda and Toyota dealers here in Chiang Rai without any problems.  On the other hand it is not accepted at the place where I buy my swimming pool supplies.

Most years I bring in less than my annual US Social Security benefit so I know Thailand will not tax that money.  On occasion I may bring in more but the money will come from my retirement savings.  That account is invested and is growing.  I have my statement that shows my balance as of December 31, 2023.  Am I correct in assuming that as long as the amount I bring in above my SS benefit is below my balance as of December 31, 2023 I will have no Thai tax liability?

I believe you could exit the country and reenter prior to January 10 but within 30 days of your January 18 flight.  Leaving without a reentry permit cancels your current extension.  Reentering within 30 days visa exempt will work.

Not necessarily true unless this a recent change.  In the past it was different rules for different offices.  I returned from an international trip late last year.  My first 90 day report was due in January.  I was able to complete it successfully.  I use the Chiang Rai IO 

I returned from another international trip this past March.  I’ll see if I will be able to so my first 90 day report on line this coming June.

The tourist tax upon arrival was approved several years ago but was never implemented.  At first it was to cover unpaid medical bills.  Then part of it was to improve tourism spots.  As I recall the plan was completely dropped last year.  Now I see the idea is being brought back.

I think they are a little late with this forecast.  Here in Chiang Rai we’ve had thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rain the past 3 nights usually starting around 8

About a year ago I re-entered Thailand from a trip to Egypt.  I was able to use the online reporting system for my first 90 day report after entering the country.  It may depend on the office.  I do my reporting in Chiang Rai.

I was also able to do my first 90 day report online after arriving back in Thailand last June.

After reading all of these comments I think it’s time to see the doctor.  About 11 days ago I work up in the middle of the night with a fever, sore throat and a racing heart, up to 135 bpm.  A day later the sore throat was gone along with the fever and my heart rate back to near normal but developed a cough and general stuffiness which I still have.  It’s driving my wife crazy.

I’m a little lighter now.  I still keep up with my exercise routine but now I only have 2 meals per day with a healthy snack in between.

Yes, you can get a non-o visa while in Thailand.  I entered Thailand on a tourist visa, applied for and obtained a non-o and then towards the end of the 90 day non-o I applied for and received my first retirement extension.

The parents would need to show that both mom and dad are non Thai.  I believe that they would need to show a certificate of birth showing that neither parent is Thai, but I’m not sure.

When mu wife who holds both US and Thai passports travels to the US she always usses her US passport., and returns on her Thai

Once when my wife's Thai passport was expired and we needed to come to Thailand ASAP and did not have time to renew it, she got an emergency travel document from the Thai embay in the US, it was essay. 

so If when returning to Thailand your son would need to return with his Thai passport  as he should to eliminate overstay and visa issues, and since he does not have one, just get an emergency travel document.

If the child was born in Thailand and was never outside of Thailand then he can not leave using his US passport because it does not have a Thai entry stamp.  A friend of mine went through this in October.  He is a US citizen and his wife is Thai.  His son was born in Thailand.  They have a US passport for him but needed a Thai passport to exit Thailand.  A little over a year ago there was a thread discussing this.

Good report!  Very easy when you have the correct paperwork and an appointment.  I did my non-o retirement extension here in Chiang Rai last month.  Just like the op I had an appointment and everything went quickly.  The only difference is that I had to provide copies of my latest 90 day report and TM30.  My original TM 30 from 2018 when I moved to Thailand is still stapled in my passport and that was all I needed even though I have left and reentered the country on numerous occasions and also stayed at various hotels within Thailand.

Did you weight more than1 sample of each product?  It’s been a since I worked with consumer products here in Thailand but I believe the regulation is that a batch of product must average label claim.  This means that some will be above and some below the stated label weight.

This morning I just did my 5th extension based on retirement even though I am married to a Thai.  After my first extension my Thai wife does not accompany me.  I provide the same documents every year.  I am never questioned about having a Thai spouse and the is no indication that I am married in any of the documents I provide.

You are still able to book tickets on their site.  Thai Smile is being absorbed into Thai but Thai will keep the same domestic schedule for a while.  I have flights booked for January, February and March  and have been told that my tickets will be honored and that the flight schedule should not change.
