  1. That is a very dangerous position to take - and an insanely stupid one. I'm sorry you think that way. That is hubris, and, to me, shows you're part the problem we're facing concerning our continuing destruction of the Earth's environment. Read my book https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087WWM1S9.
  2. That little phrase can save the world ! Need to respect and help every living being . We are all , not only us , the humans , part of an ecosystem that is designed to enable us to live longer and further evolve as a species . But this , of course , will not be the case if we destroy it first . The consequences of continued destruction of our ' own ' ecosystems will not be nice . For nobody . Need to immediately stop pollution by fossile fuels NOW . Should have been done 20 yrs ago already . Yes, I agree. Read more about this in my book The Icarus Syndrome. You can find more details about it and either buy it or download it for free at: https://web.facebook.com/booktheicarussyndrome.
  3. I thought Wise (nee TransferWise) had fixed this. I know they had for a time. Their transfer model is that they really don't transfer any money when you do your transfer. They just tell their agent in Thailand, like at Thai Military Bank, to do a domestic transfer to your account. It works the same when transferring money out. Then, at the end of the month, they settle up with their agents all over the world. That's how they can transfer money at lower rates. But, as I said, this is a known problem that was supposedly fixed. This doesn't bother me anymore since I know qualify on total funds deposited, not monthly transfers. Good luck!
  4. No human has more worth than any other living being. In this case, if the dog attacked the child unprovoked, then yes, the dog should have to face consequences, maybe even euthanasia if it were found to be a serial offender or this single attack was very savage. But, if the child attacked the dog unprovoked, then he too should have to face the same set of consequences. That's why I added "people" to the suggestion in the original post.
  5. I'm from the US, and the "perp walk" is just the police walking the accused away ,usually in handcuffs. I've always thought it was supposed to be a public display showing the police arrested someone.
  6. I, of course, don't at all condone or excuse this man for what he's alleged to have done, but I've always thought the Thai practice of having the alleged perpetrator "reenact" his crime is curious. Why would anyone do that, unless they are intending to plead guilty and would receive some kind of more lenient treatment or sentence if they cooperated in this manner? ????
  7. I've lived in Thailand for 22 years. The governmental system doesn't bother me much. I haven't seen any advantage for the average Thai whether they have a democratically elected government or one which gained control by force or some other way. Both types seem to mainly be out to better themselves and only do what is necessary to keep the general public under control. This is no different than any other country I know of, including my home country, the USA. The answer to most of your other questions depends a lot on why you've chosen to live in Thailand. That answer, for me, is to live peacefully on my own terms and within my means, and to be able to limit my contact with greedy, narcissistic people. Because of this, I would not like to see an increase in the influx of tourists or more foreign residents be they Asian or "Farangs." So, whatever events occur that limit that, be it a coup or COVID-19, is fine with me.
