  1. I would only recommend a few GSD breeders in Thailand if you are looking for something like european standard in term of how the evaluation and certification of the dogs. I would say that those I recommended they use imported parents which already certified in German breed survey or stud book.

These breeders they imported stud dogs and pregnant bitches with already have a showing title, working title at lease SchH1 or IPO1, hip and elbow score and DNA test.

The one at Rungsit is still there by Phaholyotin road but it is hard to find since they don't speak english and they don't have any kennel sign in front of the door. Another one is around Watcharapol-Ram intra area.

So in term of screening of genetic disease in Thailand, there is no requirement in any club, both Kennel Club of thailand and GSD Association of Thailand.

  2. I know this sounds a bit weird. However the number to ring for a Pedigree German Shepherd is 0852077589. The guy that looks after the dogs knows what he is talking about; his name is Mr Meyong or Meou, like the Cat. Yeah I know they all have weird Thai nicknames.

The owner is a breeder of the German shepherd only and he imported the Dog and the Bitch from overseas, Austria and Germany for breeding purposes only, at a cost of over TB1,000,000 each.

I picked and bought mine when he was a puppy for TB30,000 with full pedigree records, veterinary records.

They have a heap of trophies and ribbons for the winning dogs at the Royal Thai Dog Show, in which the King presented the prizes to the owner and trainer. Photos of this event are hanging on the owner’s wall.

He also supplies and trains dogs to the Royal Thai Police and the Thai Military. Some of his dogs were trained for the King and patrol the Palace with the handlers.

I can’t tell you the name of the kennel as all of my papers are in Thailand and I am in OZ at the moment. The area of the kennel is Patun Thani.

Sorry I can’t give you any more info at present, but I am sure if you ring the number above, they will give you the address and directions on how to get there.

You can PM me if you want any more info?

    OZEMADE

I named him SATAN and he is only 6 months old in this photo. He is now 12 months old and twice the size.

    post-60852-0-29237800-1350561631_thumb.j

Click onto the photo to get the real size of him. Look at the size of his head and paws.

The name of the kennel is R.C.Club. I know the owner and the keeper, Meyong very well. I also have some dogs from him and also sometime he asks me if I can help him look for dog from Germany. This kennel has moved from Pratum thani to Rangsit and I don't think they have dogs more than 30 adult dogs. Sometime I take people who desperate looking for a GSD puppy to this breeder when I don't have puppy.

Compare to other breeder in Thailand, even thought, we are hobbyist, I would recommend this breeder. The guy has so much money to invest in facility. He only have 2-3 staffs looking for all dog, so it could not be more dog than that.

The most expensive stud dog that he imported was rank top 20 in Germany. The price should be around 40,000 euro which is quite common for this kind of dog. ( There are some report from GSD association in Germany that some dog has been sold to China for 150,000 euro.)

I am expecting to have nice puppy from him next year when I breed my bitch. This is information about this stud dog.

  3. I have many german shepherds which born in Thailand and Europe. I would say that heat is not a big problem for training your dog but we can manage to avoid serious injury. Dog training in Thailand, they train dog during an early hour in the morning and late afternoon to early night.

One club that they're gethering togeher and train dog every Sunday morning at Mahidol University playground in Nakornprathom. They start before sun raise and finish a few hours later.

Another active club in Bangkok is mainly train for Searching And Rescue dog. They have a training every Sunday somewhere in MRT head quarter.

If you looking for a trainer for train your dog, one active place is at K-9 Police department on Vipawadee road, Laksi District. They don't accept your dog to join with police dog team, but the trainer who is police, some of them train dog for part time job.

I personally, train my dog for schuthund sport with team in Chiangmai. MP me if you like your dog to join my team.

  4. I would walk my dog in city street rather than outer Bangkok. It tends to have more strays than in the city.Or you may try to walk your dog at CDC design cetre, K villege, the Nine where those community mall allow dogs

We think we have found a grassy park area outside of central Bangkok, up near the airport, will go check it out once the pup has all his vaccinations and can be safely taken outside. Thanks for the info and advice guys, much appreciated. I will post back when/if i find some suitable places :)

Yes. That is the best place if you mean at the airport.

The green area around out side of the run way. I normally park my car near long stay car park.

Your google search may have better results if you spell the breed name correctly. It is a German Shepherd Dog. I found this which should possibly steer you in the right direction.

German Shepherd Dog Association of Thailand

Categories: Company in Thailand > Associations & Chambers

Address: 7 Soi Phahon Yothin 5, Phahon Yothin Rd., Sam Sen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400 Thailand See map from http://www.bangkokpo...-thailand/7863/

    Hope this helps.

I am member of the GSDAT. I agree that It would be the best way to start finding a puppy from the breeder list and breeding records that they have at GSDAT office. You just need to ask someone to help you communicate in Thai and depends on where you are. So you would be able to visit the breeder. GSDAT is a single breed association, different from another association(an all breed one). GSDAT has stricter rules that need members to comply such health check, tatoo, and working ability.

  6. BTW I think my friend paid about 30k+ for his.

That'd be possible for a puppy from pink pedigree

I can give some idea how much the German shepherd puppy price normally is as refer from GSD association of Thailand

There are 2 classes of pedigree as same as in Germany, Pink paper and White one.

Pink pedigree seem to be a higher class than the white paper. The puppies which come with pink paper mean their parents have achieved certain requirement as require by gsd association here and in Germany.

The requirement such as working title, at least the dog must complete SchH1 (obedient, tracking and protection) then what they call Korschein in German or Breed survey which comply with comment from Judge about anatomy, movement, working ability test (running) ect.

For the price of these pink paper puppies should starting from 30k. Some time it can be up to 60k or more if the puppies are sired by top producing stud dog from Germany. For example I used to import a pregnant bitch which mated to top producing sire for almost 10.000 euro. Now we can imagine how much the price should be for a puppy.

Now for the white paper, its mean one or both of the parents has not completed the requirement. Anyway under GSDAT requirement, at least they both have done hip x-ray before mating.

For the puppy which price less than 10.000 baht, make sure that their parent have been looked after very well enough.

anyway, nothing can guarantee that pink pedigree puppy is always better than white pedigree puppy.

  7. Well, I do breed shepherd for some time, to be honest, everytime I breed them, I expect them to become as their parents or grand parents in Germany. I would say that for some reason, the female GSD, sometime we get what we expected. But for the male GSD, it is rerely possible. The dog change a lot from their puppyhood to first year. Also there are so many factors that different from here and Europe, ofcause.

FMO responsible breeder can breed and raise puppy as same quality as in Germany. For doing that here in Thailand, it takes a lot of care and resources. The breeder have to deal with some desease / germ everywhere in this kind of weather which effect puppies growth. As it may notice that small breed dog in Thailand such pomeranian and beagle which grow up in Thailand can go aboard and get champion title in US or Europe. Just becasue it is much easier to deal with the enviroment when breeder always keep these small dog in door.

By the way, I've seen some Thai GSD breeders who pay much attention, looking after new born puppy and they get quality puppies as expected. Again, it consume a lot resources from selecting good structure and temperament parents (which I found it is easier to import one from Germany), then looking after with quality food, exercise, grooming and sometime keep them in air conditioned room.

If you are looking for a GSD puppy, cheaper price puppy, seem to have cheaper care. If you do not mind about stucture or temperament much, at least you must ask if the parents have hip x-ray check before you buy.:jap:

Moreover, long hair germanshepherd (long fur around ears), as a breeder, I normally spray and give away since it is mentioned in breed stadard as longer fur may effect German shepherd working ability!.. ... (getting more dirt while herding maybe?):D

  8. From my experience, It isn't easy to make sure from sight inspection if they have hip problem unless you x-ray them.

Some of my dogs have longer hock, normally they show weak legs when they were young and then they develop gradually when older.

You can do preliminary check with experienced vet at pet hospital in Bangkok or any university that teach vet in major city.

BTW, I have seen many dogs with hips problem can live and enjoy their activities.

Just give them good care and good quality fresh food and enough exercise.

  9. I dont know what you mean with this stupid reaction! I did have german shepards all my life and never had any problems!

Do you really want a GS? It's so sad when the back end goes in later life and they drag their hind legs along until you get up the nerve to have them put down. sad.gif

paheton is apparently referring to hip dysplasia which is prevalant among GSD and due to poor breeding plans... and phaethon, if u dont have a positive response to a specific question asked by the OP, than think before u hit the send button...

thongpoon, u can look up PONTI he is a breeder that posts here on thaivisa; also u can ask nienke possibly has? sorry i cant keep track of whom breeds what.... but search for german shepherd or alsation because this question is asked often, and we have listed breeders in the threads...

there are also the animal rescue places if u want to check, they may, surprisingly enough, have pure breds also....

    israel

It is not easy to say if the dogs will have their hip problem when they are young or sometime even a older dog.

The best way would be buying a puppy from parents that have their health checked before mating.

It doesnt mean buying a pedigree dog or an expensive one.

First of all, You must ask breeder if they have hip x ray result.

Here, Thai GSD association requires every breeders to submit thier dog's hip x-ray film before giving them breeding permission.

Again, nothing can garantee but at least, German Shepherd is still the most popular breed in many countries.

For Thongpoon, you will have to drive up to Bangkok for a puppy. I don't know any GSD people in Huahin or Prachuab.

Wish you can find the right one for you soon.

  10. sunholiday, do you know his contact details? the one that sells the GS (European lines)? Could you PM me? THankssss ;)

There are many imported GSD in Bangkok these day.

One of the most expensive dog name Ghandi vom Baronenwald

Once Ghandi went on tv show, I remember the owner said he acquired Ghandi for about 2 million baht from Germany  after he gain his V15th place in German National GSD show. There were more than 5,000 German shepherd dog joining the show each year from around the world.

Obviously, price of the puppy must be little high.

  11. There are many breeders and exibitors around Bangkok.

I could give you name and phone number later by pm.

These puppy, the price is around 35,000 baht for local born puppy.

It could be up to same price as a puppy from well known breeder in Europe.

To be honest, I could not recommend any of them, I think these breeders are too commercial. :D

It is hardly find responsible breeder who sell their dog for lower price.

  12. Hi there,

There are some good breeders around the country, ofcause most of them are in Bangkok.

Depend where you are, it is better if you could inspect the breeder and the parents by your self.

When you get the puppy, make sure the breeder show you nessesary documents such parents pedigree, health check especailly hips, since Hips dysplasia is most common in GSD in Thailand. At least one vacine shot should be given.

hmm.. what's else? For me, I dont have any puppy right now but there are some litter which sired by my dog in Chiangmai and Chiangrai.

  13. Thank you for recommending me :)

I am a bit far from Burirum, btw, I have no puppy avaialble.

If you have time this sunday, you can come and check them out at the show ring.

From Nienke picture, Max, he's one of the nice looking dog I bred.

I still want to take him to show competition sometime. The owner treat him very well and I am sure that Max become a big boy, a lot bigger than the picture.

This is one of my show team at the show ring.

  14. I contact them from time to time. If there anything I can help you?

They have all informations about gsd in thailand that registered with this GSDAT

For example breeder in your area, stud dogs records, born puppies.

GSDAT is an authorised member of SV, the GSD association in Germany. ( Which they always claim that kc thailand isn't )

  15. it seems like German Shepherd quite a little bit quiet in Thailand. Unlike those population in Europe or America, Why?

Or here, they have such competitor such Thai Ridge Back and Bangkaew?

Who has any problem having GSD in Thailand?

Yes of cause I have 4 GSD dogs and I enjoy having them. I use to have Boxer, Labrador. Now I am not surprise why GSD is the most popular breed in many countries.

    Please share...

  16. I think this is the best place for dog walking and for your exercise as well.

Many people take thier dog here. So it is confirmed that pet friendly.

This place consists of 3 huge reserviors, it's just been promoted by Bangkok Methopolis to be an only water sport park in Bangkok.

If you look up the Google map, just paralel to Suwananbhumi airport, next to Suanloung Rama9 park.

The best access way is from Srinakarin Rd. and turn left to Chalaorm phrakiat Rd. and turn left again at Soi 43.

It is easy for people who live in Bangna-Trad, Srinakarin area. For those who not in the area, you can stick to express way and keep on the outer ring road.

Hope to see you there sometimes

  17. Hey mangotogo, I've only seen Whippet once in Thailand, I think at Sukhumvit soi31, Ozono plaza or something. Probably you know the owner? Your dog is nice. What group is Whippet?

I shown my Labrador couple of years ago in Thailand. After he finished his Champion Title, I rarely show him again :D .

Now I show German Shepherd which is something different. The GSD association of Thailand is seperated from Thailand KC. They only hold specialty show, normally outdoor and outside Bangkok. Also they always have protection competititon before comformation show.

Next show is on Sunday May, 3rd. Hmm.. Somewhere near Thammasart University, Rangsit.

This is my Lab at Crufts 2007 with his handler. :o
