there sure are some beeutiful poor thai chicks and more poor the other kind for sure...........lol.

Have you considered teaching english in LOS?

  2. we are not trying to get pregnant. after so many month 28-32 we thought itd be okay to roll the dice on day 30. we have both been freaking out since then. today was some relief but now we are just confused as its only slight brown spotting and ive heard that this can still occur with a pregnancy.

  3. my gf's cycle (she is 25 yo) is normally 28-32 days. we had unprotected sex on day 30. today is day 39 of her cycle, we woke up and took a pregnancy test that came up negative. later in the day, she had the very slightest of bleeding, more brown than red. what do you think is going on? is it possible that she is pregnant? why only the slight bleeding so late? is a lady's doctor visit in order?

  4. Thailand and other Asian states will always be dearer for the farangs because the majority of locals don't require as many luxuries as we do

Yep, its because they are Buddhists and more spiritual. Thats also why many of these poor Asians are willing to marry a dude thrice their age, its because of their Buddhist culture. Now just keep telling yourself this over and over again.

  5. So excluding the large piece of land, the house itself is selling at 56,000 baht/m2.

Even though I agree that real estate in Thailand is over priced (relative to purchase power in Thailand)... I think you're going the wrong way by making comparison with price per sqm.

For such large houses, we don't calculate anymore with price per sqm.

So the palm beach house at 500 000 USD, is 17,5 millions THB.

The question is : what can you have for 17,5 millions in Thailand ? And then make comparisons.

Well, I saw the development Magnolias in Bagna which was going for 20-40m baht/unit.

  6. My sister who lives outside of Orlando is having a devil of a time trying to sell a house for $365,000. She'll take $330K next month, probably. Let's see, that's about ten million baht, net (let's ignore any mortgage she has to pay off). What can she buy in Thailand for 9 million baht.

But let's not compare suburban Florida real estate with downtown Bangkok or Manhattan or the City of London, okay? What can you get in real Thailand for millions of baht? Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Pichit, Mae Hong Son?

Are you seriously trying to compare WPB to Khon Kaen, Hua Hin and Mae Hong Son? You obviously have not been to West Palm Beach. Calling West Palm Beach a suburb is also debatable. It is a suburb by American standards I guess, but it is still very metropolitan.

And comparing "outside orlando," which is farmland, to West Palm Beach is also silly.

  7. http://www.zillow.com/HomeDetails.htm?zprop=61892753

Here is a beautiful home in West Palm Beach. 85% white, 6% black, 9% other population ratio.

    $500,000

    Built in 2003

    House is 3292 square feet = 306 m2

    Land is 972 m2

    6 Beds and 4 Baths

So excluding the large piece of land, the house itself is selling at 56,000 baht/m2.

You can go and compare these numbers to the classified section of this website or the other bangkok reality websites. These cheap American real estate prices might be caused by a real estate bubble and the decline of the USD, but it does make you question whether or not real estate in Thailand is over priced. And, I realize that the market determines the price, but that doesn't mean that the market does not act irrationally at times and it is not possible for the market to over value assests - just look at Florida.

If you were to buy in West Palm beach you would be living in one of the nicest and cleanest neighborhoods in Florida. It would be very hard to compare West Palm beach to Rangsit or Suvarnabhumi.

I don't know that much about real estate, and I guess Thais are very limited in where they can invest their money, so maybe the prices will remain this high.

  8. Although he does share an almost equal disregard for the sanctity of human life.

How do you figure man? Sonram accidentally killed someone and has been apologising and trying to make ammends (if possible) since it happened. The rich bastage that killed the people at the bus stop intentionally rammed his car into a group of people in a tantrum over a minor incident and then his family threatened everyone else around them on the spot! The boy never apologised and now they are claiming mental health problems as an excuse, I've met the kid, his only problem was that he was a rich spoiled brat. How is that an equal disregard for human life?

    met him ?

  9. the books i read on buddhism did not mention this type of nonsense. are these the actual buddha's teaching or ideas that were added on through time?

the stuff i read was about the 4 noble truths and the 8 pathfold. it talked about desiring and suffering. it seemed more like a philosophy then a religion. the idea that one is reincarnated or goes to hel_l - that is religion, because it doesn't rely on logic but instead wants to place our desires(judgement) onto the world, imho.

  10. my thai lady friend told me that monks are always talking about you going to hel_l for doing bad things. ive read a few books on buddhism and i dont remember hearing anything about hel_l. I asked her if it is a metaphor and she said no, that you will physically burn after you die. can you guys shed any light on whether buddhism in thailand has morphed into a religion or if it is true to the actual teachings of the buddha?

  11. No offence man but 4 years and you can't say 'Tao Rai'?? I've seen guys like that who have lived here for 5+ years and they strugle on a daily basis to get by, not financially but oher ways.

Two farang missionaries just left my house - when they left, I asked them how long they'd been here - their answer, 3 months. The whole conversation we had was in Thai(apart from a couple of words). They said they had studied one hour a week for 2 months before they came. It's all a matter of attitude - some people expet Thais to speak English, others make an effort to learn.

they must be really serious about saving souls
