sllightly off topic, but similar, i had a coconut tree overhanging my roof, it was actually in my Thai neighbours garden, twice coconuts fell and smashed my roof tiles, i asked him to trim it so it wasnt over hanging, he wanted 10,000 to remove it. so i went to the local Police station, explained that i should be allowed to cut anything that overhung my property.
The Police agreed and said that was law in Thailand to be able to trim the tree, but we cant do anything for you and you cant do it yourself because "Farangs have no voice in Thailand".... directly from the RTP..... so i had to pay the neigbour to remove the tree, he wouldnt trim it down. so will Mr Buse have a voice? only time will tell.... good luck and well done for standing up for us all....

Current daily average UK new infections 37k
but the Vaccinated UK is over 90% which means they can get it, but not at the level that will kill you. Thailand less than 5% so there is no comparison......

friends of mine went to pre arranged appointments in a hospital in Koh Samui to be told they dont have any vaccine and have had no information from the government as to when they will receive them..... maybe the numbers are from when they started the vaccinations and not from the 7th of June....... or am i being sceptical........

no surprise there then, it is not the cost of the vaccination that annoys me, it is the principle, expats live here and spend probably more than the average Thai, so why are we charged, do Thai's living in our home countries pay for vacination or do they get it for free, as in our countries it would be classed as "racist" to charge foreigners. Welll done Phuket, you have pretty much excluded foreigners from visiting your island with our money.......

the Family travelling from the UK where isolated, but what about all the people they came into contact with on their trip to Thailand, maybe that is the anwer to how it got through.....
and as for complacency and the 2% mentioned, you only have to look at Brazil to see what complacency means. over 4000 deaths in one day...... why is Thailand waiting till June to start vacinations when the rest of the world has already started and the UK is nearly complete. you cant rely on tourist with vacination passports not to bring it in with them, they may not get it, but they can spread it........

I am locked down in the UK after a visit to my 95 year old mum in hospital I was married in the UK to my Thai wife 17 years ago, we have a 7 year old son who was born in Thailand and has dual nationality. my wife has an indefinite leave to remain in the UK visa (ILR) issued in 2005. we live 6 months in both the UK and in our home in Thailand.
1. my wife can stay out of the UK for up to two years before her ILR runs out. In the current situation, will this be extended.
2. we went through a lot of hoops and expense to gain the ILR for my wife, why is there no reciprocal agreement with Thailand. instead i have to go through annual hoops showing an income of 4 times the Thai national average. how many Thais have 400,000 Thb in their bank account.
3. my wife and son are in Thailand, i am in the UK, the hoops I am being asked to jump through for me to return to my family are ridiculous and chaotic, no one seems to have thought the process through. What about my right to family life. Can the Embassy do anything to help us displaced husbands/wife's and parents to get back to Thailand without the ridiculous amount of paperwork, (like the Dr's certificate, Covid test 72 hours before flight to be sent to the Embassy for approval of visa, book a hotel with no flight date, which are near impossible to do).
good luck with the question session, sadly i believe it is another one of the Embassy's show the flag sessions, which will not amount to much more..... but thanks for trying.

If you ask 1,200 people in an area that doesn't have or benefit from Tourism, you will get this result. what about trying the same questions in Samui, Phuket or Krabi where most benefit from Tourism, would it still be the same, and is 1,200 people a big enough sample, i think not....

Do they think the country's money grows on trees?
Yes, Rubber Trees, at 17.5 baht per kilo, from 46 per kilo 6 years ago, rice is down, rubber, no tourism, but the baht is high..... how?

We had a delivery by "Kerry Express" at home, my wife told me the Curry man had arrived, when I explained it was Kerry and not Curry, she told me that was how Thai's pronounced it, so I asked her for a Green Kerry for tea...... she wasn't impressed..... LOL

I can't tell from the OP article whether the self-quarantine rules by country are only meant to apply to Thais coming back from those countries, tourists arriving from those countries, or both?
read the article again, it clearly says "Visitors" and "Thai Citizens returning" that covers both Thai nationals and tourists. so a three week stay in Thailand is only one week as the first two are confined to your hotel room....

i was at Krabi immigration at the beginning of January for a 60 day extension, which went without hitch as i am married to a Thai and have a 6 year old son at school here in Krabi. but when i asked them the rules for a marriage visa i was told firstly 800,000 baht, when i queried this it was immediately reduced to 400,000 baht or a letter from your Embassy proving your income of 40,000 per month, when i told them the UK Embassy doesnt issue letters anymore, i was told "400,000 or Embassy letter" i tried to explain, but he just got angry and kept saying 400,000 or Embassy letter. so what happens when i return in a couple of months, who knows. why don't the Immigration offices have the same rules..... is there something in writing i can take, or do i just drive to Phuket.....

there are lots of Zebra Crossings in A0 Nang, no one bothers to stop, i have many times, but the problem is as soon as you do some idiot overtakes you and nearly takes out the person you are letting cross. If you educated them, would it matter, it is in the Thai Highway Code, but no one has ever read it..... selfish drivers, everyone for himself........ it not going to change till you make people take (real) driving tests and you have a police force who actually police it.... mostly it is ignorance of the rules......

The Law states that you have to have a Will in any country you have an immoveable asset, such as a business or property.
As for bank accounts it will really depend on the bank manager at the branch. But if you have a will in Thailand your "Executor" can access any property or funds, I have a Thai Will, written in English and translated into Thai naming someone I trust as the Executor, witnessed by two people at the same time. a foreigner does not need it witnessing by the Amphur, this is for Thais.
I also have a Will in England where I still have assets. the only time you can use a UK will in another country is by using the "Apostile" system, which means you gain probate on your UK Will, then send the document to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to have the Apostile stamp put on the Deed of Probate. this can then be used within any country that is a part of the "Apostile" system. the Apostile will cost your £30 per copy.
the simplest method, is to get a Will drawn up in Thailand. I used Expat Wills, a UK Will writer who also works here in Thailand, who then sent certificates to my next of kin and Executor telling them of the whereabouts of my Will and what to do when the time came....
why would anyone live in Thailand, have assets that they don't want to go totally to their wife, but not have a Will or Power of Attorney, this would cause untold problems for the family on death or if they lost mental capacity due to illness or accident.
Because I have nothing to have people fight over here. My TV my refrigerator and my computer's these are things that the wife's family will absorb when I leave. Also as I have said I do not have a private bank account. The wife is signed on to every one of them and I have left a list of my ATM and Visa cards along with the pin numbers to access them. There are many people living here in Thailand the same as me. They die the wife automatically takes the pot's and pan's along with the kitchen ware. None of it is registered in my name or her name it is common property.
I can understand the will if you have property of one kind or another in your name. Or a private bank account. Or other people in a position to contest for your possessions. But that is not the case with a lot of us.
I have money invested out side the country and my wife is named as the beneficiary. To facilitate it I have signed papers giving my son power of attorney in case of my passing. I trust him. He has visited often and knows my wife. When I moved to Thailand I made it a commitment. I got rid of all my possessions in Canada with the exception of a few valuable books that will go to the son holding them. I even went so far as to give my car to my ex. So as you can see there is no need for a will. The money I have invested I have been instructed by mmy three sons that not to worry about them take care of me and my wife.
just for your information, a Power of Attorney dies with the "donor" so when you die, your attorneys can no longer use it, they can only access your investments with a deed of probate, gained with your will in the country you have your investments.

While travelling on the road between Trang and Krabi, I was dong about 80 kph, heading towards me was, on the inside a large truck with trailer carrying logs, being overtaken by a minibus (in a hurry) which was being overtaken by a "VIP" coach, three abreast down the road, I had to pull into the motorbike lane, with two wheels on the grass to miss the bus hitting me head on, all I got was flashing lights from the bus driver "get out of my way" and told off by my Thai wife for driving to fast, had I drove slower I wouldn't have been there at the time this happened.
The reality is Thais don't care, its always someone else's fault, and after all it was their time.... you cant argue with their logic, they think we are stupid for thinking differently to them.....

"Both Mr Cunningham and British Honorary Consul Martin Carpenter raised the issue of uninsured jet-skis operating at both Surin and Laem Singh beaches, where current zoning regulations prohibit their use."
So why are they putting up signs to warn tourists if the regulations "Prohibit their use". Don't you just move them off the beach or fine them for breaking the law.......... did anyone mention this at the meeting?..

Covards. Proves they are terrorist.
Used to symphatize with the red movements but all that is now gone.
I sincerely hope that all foreigners and thais take all this in consideration and do NOT vote for the reds in next election. That would be a clear signal.
Farangs won't be voting for the anybody at all, they have no vote.
the only way out of this mess is proper elections, Abhisit was put in place by the army. after all of this i doubt if Tahksin will get back in, this mess has back fired on him. ufortunately in a society were corruption is commonplace and accepted there can be no real democracy. So I dont see the problems going away in our lifetime, unless someone realy wants to change things. The real sad point is the country we all love is imploding, once the troubles stop will the tourists come back? if not what happens to the hard working law abiding people of Thailand who will be the ones most hurt by this madness.

is it my maths, or have they got it completely wrong....!
