Hello everybody,
I am desperately looking in Chiang Mai or wherever in Thailand for :
1. Mineral powder pigment for oil painting
2. Blanc de Meudon aka whiting chalk powder
Could anybody help me ? -
Ready ???
I was there 4 days ago ( still low season ) coming back from Europe; there was a 1 hour queue in front of each immigration desk.
Me and my wife went through the Thai Passport section but they really are NOT ready to welcome properly high amount of tourists !

Thanks Tywais, it seems that I won't have to travel to Bangkok for my treatment ... which is a great news !
-
The hospital definitiely has this, it is a tertiary care facility with full cancer services.
Great ! Thanks a lot for the confirmatiom Sheryl !!!
Once you know exactly what you need in terms of chemo and/or radiation you can make an appointment with an oncologist at Sripat and take it from there. Chances are for the actual treatment you will have to go to the main hospital, the first time will be a bit daunting (red tape, crowded, long waits and hard to figure out where to go as signs and forms are in Thai etc) so bring a Thai speaker with you. Once you are registered in the appropriate clin ic(s) it will be much easier for subsequent visits.
I will definitively follow your advise,Sheryl
It would not be daunting as I speak and read Thai.
Thanks again for your help and advises, I really appreciate !

Hi Sheryl,
Thank you for your answer.
That's what my doc here in Belgium suggested me to do either.
My main cioncern is : does Sripat have good radiotherapy technicians as the main point in radiotherapy is calibrating, aiming, ...
( they have to focus the radioactive beam extremely precisly on the tumor )
Have a nice day

Hi everybody,
I am in Europe for a month for medical examinations and an MRI revealed a tongue cancer.
A biopsy is scheduled on October 24th then I'll fly back home (CNX).
I still don't know exactly what the treatment will be ( Chemo or Radio .. or both ), but I wish to know if any of you have heard about Chemo and/or Radiotherapy in Cnx.
I've heard about Sripat providing this treatment but I have no idea how qualified they are.
Thank you very much for any help you could provide me with !

Ever tried to reach this railway station from Zaventem ( = Brussels) Airport ?
Second: when I want to go to Paris, Cologne, Amsterdam: why via Brussels ?
There's a train leaving Brussels Airport every 20 minutes direction the Brussels main train stations.
The Airport train station is INSIDE the Airport.

Here in Padaet, about 1 meter water in my garden and in the Soi, impossible to leave the house.
BUT .... water level has stopped to raise around 2PM and even seems to recede.
Lucky me : another 5cm and water would have reach my house.
Unfortunately, others haven't been so lucky.

Well, once again, you all guys are complaining about the politics or the culture or the way of thinking or, or, or ... then I really wonder why you're still living here ?
By the way, did anyone of you mentioned that 2 ( or maybe 4 ) people died ?

She pointed out that many countries have more than one national name, such as the Netherlands and Holland; the United States and America; the Great Britain, the United Kingdom and England; Switzerland and Helvetia; Germany and Deutschland; and Japan and Nippon.
Germany and Deutschland ????
As far as I know Germany is the english denomination of Deutschland, so why not Allemagne ( in French ), Allemania in Italian , ....
If we follow her obsolete reasoning, any country in the world has as much national name as there are existing languages on hearth.
Espana, Spain, prathet Sapain, Espagne, Spanje, .....
Those useless arguments disserve her worth enterprise.
By the way, in any language of the world Siam is said ... Siam

This will really kill the tourism down there
Is that your main concern ???
Hope it won't kill people as it did 3 month ago

Fillipos, you are funny : we foreigners, are supposed to have "imported" prostitution to Thailand
As far as we all know, prostitution has always existed for centuries all around the world.
I came here in 1976 when I was a kid and there already were a lot a girls selling their body to LOCAL people.
I've been traveling a lot in my life, visiting a lot of countries all around the word .... and I've seen prostitution in ALL the countries I've been to.
Prostitution is a part of any country's culture, of human civilization, you can not stop it ... and, honnestly, why would you ?

but let me ask this question, however rhetorical it is...What religion is, and has been associated with, and in most instances CLAIMS responsibility for murdering innocent people
Moving check the Christians and the crusades 1000 years ago untill the end of the Middle Age and you'll get the answer.
Islamist terrosits weren't the first one to kill in the name of God.
Don't missunderstand me, I totaly condemn islamist integrism which is a real threat and obviously the biggest one actually, terrorism from anywhere is insane and has to be fought out.
Killing any innocent people in the name of God (?) is insane; those people are brainwashed assassins and all nations have to fight them and get rid of them.
Fortunately Mister Bush is protecting us and we've no reason to be scared ...

Yeap, that's what I thought.
Just asking if I can avoid to spend 20.000 THB ( flight to bkk, hotel, new passport, ... ) and to miss 2-3 days of work.
But that's not the main purpose of my posts, I still don't know which are the risks and penalties if my mistake could be discovered.
As a newbie, I simply came here expecting some help and/or constructive advises.
-
Well, bluebear, I've learned something : I don't need to apply for a new visa.
Can the immigration in Chiang Mai ( closer to where I live than BKK ), transfer the visa to my new passport ?
Thanks for kicking my ass; for all the reasons you gave me, I think I will follow your advise.
PS : I don't understand the word "cheapscate" ... but I'm not sure I want to know
-
Well it seems that I won't get that much help anymore.
So I will take my chance ... and let's see what happen.
I'll got next week to Mae Sot and if I get caught, I'll tell the truth : I really tought it was legal and didn't intend to break the laws.
Sincere thanks to all of you who gave me their opinion.
PS : meemiathai, thanks for all your efforts but I'm afraid Dr PP ( or any other member ) has no answer for me.
-
Thanks lopburi3, Georges's post was clear enough to get over my apprehensions.
francois, yes this should be the last option, I'm unfortunately not in position to waste 11.000 THB ( PP 6.000 THB + Visa 5.000 THB ) + a trip to my Embassy in Bkk unless there's nothing else to do.
tomy your comments are always very constructive, I've learned a lot from this one
-
Thank you meemiathai.
Indeed I don't care about going to Malaysia, I just wonder - as I've already written - if the immigration could figure out that I've sent my passport abroad and which are the risks for me and my future in the country.
If anybody could advise me, I would highly appreciate.
-
Of course, losing the passport would solve the problem but I don't want to go to that point ... unless it would be the only solution.
Once again, I want to conform myself to Thai laws and avoid doing anything illegal, on the other hand I don't want to pay the high price for a stupid mistake made because of my former ignorance of those laws.
And if I really had to "loose" it, shall I easily be able to renew my non-B visa which was issued only 2 month ago ? or shall have to go abroad to apply for a new one in a Thai Embassy ?
-
Thanks for your answer Fox.
Fortunately I'm not planning to go to Malaysia, I'm living in Nothern Thailand and will always get my passport stamped in Mae Sai ( Tachilek ).
But I'm really worrying because of that mistake made last year.
Being blacklisted here would be a disaster for me; as many of us I feel at home in Thailand, I've left my home country without any regret and established myself here in the respect of Thai laws, culture an traditions.
I've no more family in Europe, no more work, no more house; my life is here with my thai girlfriend ( we live already 9 years togheter and her family is becoming mine ), my new friends, the new business I'm developping, ....
-
Hi everybody,
First of all please forgive my poor English, as it isn't my native language I'll do my best to be as clear as possible.
For the second year in a row, I've a non-immigrant B visa.
Next month I will have to go to Myanmar to get my passport stamped ( as every 90 days ).
Reading all the stories about fake stamps and farang being arrested and blacklisted really worries me now because one and a half year ago, I let a travell agency send my passport to Padang Besar Malaysia, I sincerely believed that it was legal.
The date of the entry and departing on the Malaysian stamps are both crossed out ( the stamps says 15 March but the "5" has been changed into a "6" with a black pen ).
Since March 2002 I've crossed several times the Thai border and got new stamps without any problem.
But since the immigration officers check more conscientiously the passports, I'd like to know if there is any risk that they discover that my passport has been sent.
And which could be the risks for me, considering that I did it only once, guessing it was legal, one and a half year ago.
Is there anything I should do ?
Report my mistake to the immigration with sincere apologies ?
Or shouldn't I worry too much ?
