Something very wrong with someone who lives outside this country, and is never coming back, wasting their time on a Thai website. Great thread about pools. I am wanting to eventually have a good sized pool.

Ain't decided where build a house yet, so bought a blowup plastic pool from tesco lotus- 300 baht. Great for my toddler, and I must admit that I lay in it in my backie for about 15 min. Cool and comfortable - kinda floating and with a air cushion for my head. About 18 inches deep.

One concern about building a big pool - how the ###### do you stop all the local kids from using it? I stay next to a school, and would have to build a big wall to keep them all out. There are no laws here like in Oz, where a good sized fence(locked) must be built. Could be a death trap!

A friend in the US has asked me to send him 100 or so Xanax. He doesn't have a prescription. That's the point actually. He wants to avoid the doctor's fee plus apparently they are cheaper here. Now I imagine this is illegal or at least some kind of grey area. I do see thousands of online pharmacies, many based in places like India who say that it is legal for them to ship to the US.

So does anyone have reliable info here? I'd like to help a friend, but I don't want to end up in hot water.

Your friend probably has an addiction problem(why else would he want 100 Xanax?) If you really want to help your friend don't send them to him, he will end up in hotter water! They are highly addictive and withdrawals are worse than heroin.

If you have suspicions, then let the cops know. Do it through contacts or friends, or anomalously via a note (in Thai - get the Mrs/GF to write it) - send copies to several local policemen of rank, the headquarters and local politicians etc - and list the CCs on each copy. Use good quality paper and envelope and post it (rather than hand deliver). They will then be forced to move just in case so as not to loose face latter if the perp gets caught. Only do this if you are sure - but can't prove it (or can, but doubt it will get anywhere) as this would not be a nice thing to do to an innocent!

Please, please don't let these animals get away with it - Thai, farrang, Japanese - whatever.

I new lots of these boiler guys, and although I think what they were doing was terrible, and lots of them were the worst kind of scum, there were a few decent, nice guys amongst them. If she is needing very basic lessons, I would say to get a Farang teacher who can speak Thai. She wouldn't be embarrassed about asking "silly" questions.

They could explain some things in Thai, which is easier for most students to start with, in my experience.

Ask around the big schools such as ECC, and check on the teacher yourself, as there are some useless ones, as well as some excellent ones.

From my perspective 25,000 seems like a really low wage that would afford you a really basic existence, I have not spent much time in Thailand so i can't really know. But the few weeks I spent there this year 25k didnt go very far. I will be probably coming to work for a large auto group next year, i hope they dont give me the minimum.

I am very surpried they have put ALL Africans in the same bracket. We all know that they just don't want the black ones. Why don't they just say All black people -200,000 baht?? Or could they be hassled for discrimination?As for Cambodians,Laos and Vietnamese, I guesstimate about 0.5 % of those workers her earn that amount - virtually none.
