Teenagers? You could start by referring to them as adults. These adults do have a choice and every day that make that choice. How else to you explain why not every lady from Isaan follows suit? It's because they chose not to.

I too am an adult, if you or anyone else doesn't like what I do then that's ok by me but if you then voice your concerns in front of me and/or my women then expect to have your opinions rammed up an orifice not normally associated with verbal communication.

so you think its acceptable for an old fart of 70-80 years of age to date a young thai teenager of say 17-18 bearing in mind these girls look much younger than that.

just a question for you wallaby, if the girl was 15-16 years of age would you go there ? im just curious btw maybe adults to you but teenagers to me, obviously you dont have any daughters.

So, just out of curiosity, I am wondering for all these men who think it perfectly acceptable to be 20 + years older than their wives. does the reverse hold true? Do you stand in judgment of women who prefer younger partners or do you think its just as perfectly fine as your own relationship?

This post has gone a long ways and has offered a lot of opinions, but , as I answered earlier it seems to me that age doesn't matter as much as attitude between the partners. I am 20 years older than my wife, we have been quite happily married almost 5 years, known each other for seven. My brother is 15 years younger than his wife and they have been happily married for over 35 years. My mother was 4 years older than my father, and they were married almost 50 years.

So I guess, SBK, it does go both ways if it works for both. I really think age is not the game-breaker, it's attitude.

Yes, there ARE perverts. They come in all ages from 9 to 90, but being with an adult young woman does not make a man a pervert... no matter how old he is. And, we all should know the age of consent when it comes to a young woman wherever she might be. What he was intimating with the story of the mamasan and her police husband running young women out of a bar in Koh Chang borders on what we suspect to be sexual slavery. I doubt anyone here would condone that in any shape or form. That is one underbelly of Thai society that Thailand authorities should try their best to elimenate. It paints a nasty image for western societies, and in doing so it is considered normal Thailand behavior. But, it might already be too late. Unfortunately, many people in North America and Europe think all of Thailand is wrapped up in an illegal, child sex slavery business.

And, my comment on over protective fathers looking after their daughters might have touched a note with dmax... considering that he mentioned that he has 3 daughters of widely varying ages. I suspect that he or his wife were married more than one time.

In many areas (e.g. Bangkok + surroundings, Chiang Mai) the air quality is very bad, so air pollution could be the culprit.

Regarding a/c, a lot depends on how clean it is. Check and if necessary clean the filter. if you are staying in hotels etc, more of a problem as there can be organisms in the central a/c.

Taking zinc can help prevent respiratory problems/shorten their course. You can buy a preparation called Redoxan at any pharmacy, contains Vit C + zinc. Zinc throat lozenges are extremely effective but not available in Thailand AFAIK, next time bring them with you.

thanks sheryl, i will buy them today, it must be viral if it is still here , ive been on antibiotics 2 weeks now, daughter has finished her course allready and still has it also, the last hotel we stayed at i did notice the air con was old and had lots of grime around the air wents so maybe thats where the problem came from, we travel all around and usually stay in pattaya, bangkok or up home in isaan though we have new air con up there .

keep it real . btw yes pattaya has changed, ive been back and forward 12 years now and have seen big changes, lots of russian tourists now, mostly families, they dont spend money in the bars, they party in their hotel rooms drinking 40 oz bottles of cheap russian vodka they buy from duty free on the way out, wow i even see russians walking along soi bukaew now which was unheard of 3-4 years ago, you see the odd jap guy in the bars , not too many young single western guys about now, its sad to see most of the bars sold or closed or changed hands, yes there is definately a different feel to the place now from say 5-6 years ago, but the same can be said for everywhere i guess. ladys in bars ? theyve allways changed regularly .

the past 2-3 years me my wife and 2 year old daughter have had bronchitis at least 2 times each in the past 2 years only when we have been in thailand, me and my daughter have it now although we have been back in uk now for 2 weeks we still have it , when we arrived back i got antibiotics for myself and my daughter, we are still taking them but the infection has not cleared up from any of us, the pharmacist in thailand said many people contact it because of air conditioning ?

Never carry around on you more than you are prepared to loose. One day you surely will. For me that's about 2 or 300 USD max and usually less. I never carry more than that anywhere in cash or jewelry. Neither does the wife. For larger amounts you should consider insurance or do like the rest of us, use a bank.

I have regulalry travelled to Thailand form the Uk with 10k Euros and been stopped once in about 10 trips, they never asked to see the money just asked me what it was for i said buy a car showed him papers to prove this and that was it.

It's so easy to take your UK debit card to a bank in LOS and transfer money and get it in your hand in cash. .

Looks like Thai Customs has no problem with your cash as long as you declare it coming in.

The issue appears to be when all sweating and nervous, you get eyeballed by a nice UKBA chap as you are within sight of the departure lounge. Or worse still, the security pat-down at the gate reveals your bulging money belt, all within sight of the plane!.

If you look at the form, there's two lines each where you declare where the money came from and what it will be used for and one line for who the recipient is. Looks all rather benign to me.

all well and good, though what happens when i get a pat down and the nice custom officer asks me what im doin g with 5k gbp on me when im only going to thailand fore 3 weeks ? i do spend money and like to enjoy myself, just because some custom officer says that is too much money to spend and bring in cash for a holiday it doesnt mean to say its illegal.

No matter what regs/rules are posted if you try to leave the UK with £999 or less in cash no problems - period.

£1000 plus and you have to prove where its come from if stopped.If you cannot than its seized pending you proving where it did came from.Discretion applied by Customs but dont expect to walk away with £2000 for example with no decent explanation.

Personal Experience !!

This applies to not just airports-walk around with a £1000 in your back pocket in a car for example (going to car auction) then same scenario.

Don't believe me ?? I had £1013 taken from me in cash RETURNING to the UK and actually in my home town. Never returned as had no proof.

just looking on youtube.com ( immigrant money seizure ) this guy was working as a taxi driver, fully legal i suspect. customs took 15k off him, this worries me as i usually carry cash to thaiald with me, my visa debit charges me too much to withdraw from atm,s plus the atm charges etc , so i would rather carry cash and change it when i get to bkk or where ever im going , i usually get a better rate for my ntes off chinese money exchanges in bkk or pattaya. last time i stayed in los for 9 weeks and i carried 8k gbp through.

so question i want to ask is, next time im coming through with cash will i need to bring bank statements or not? i usually bring spending money of 1000 gbp to do me for each week im staying, also my wife brings cash through to give to her family in isaan, she brings new £50 notes in prestine condition ( we all know what thai banks are like ) she saves around £5000 per year or more in uk but sometimes brings more than that, bear in mind her family in isaan dont even know how to get a western union transfer etc so this is the way she prefers to do things.

inside you book is a list of transactions, would this not suffice as your statement ? its not as if you have any direct debits etc coming out per month as in uk or eu.
