  1. Did I hear someone cry 'wolf' ?

One thing for sure , all THAI are the same SAY I DO and DO Nothing , same in Business , same in Government , that way no one can be accountable !! Its the Thai Way

So they are saying that anyone that would like to participate in the upcoming melee should get himself in before 17.58 hrs?

I'm sure 6.30-7pm will be ok, they're bound to be a bit late

  2. [!

I'm always amazed that pot heads think that ganga is not a drug and that they don't realize when they are addicted to it. I speak from personal experience as many friends of mine (mostly Americans) smoke it .As a non user I can tell you Ganga smokers are boring company and I am glad the drug is illegal. I don't think these pot heads realize that it is serious for them if they are caught in possesion of it in Thailand. There must be better ways to enjoy yourself in Thailand than turning yourself into a half wit by getting "stoned."

Exactly! Couldn't have said it better. I've been here for 20plus years and seen more than my share of people going mad with drug use. Most of them have been long-term weed smokers, they lose it good and proper in the end.

The class A lads normally run out of money or get fed up at getting ripped off and go home or turn to Yaa baa as a cheap alternative , then go mad.

Either way they go back to their home countries well and truly broke and mad, sometimes they avoid the nick here, sometimes not.

And why do they always leaves dogs for some-one else to deal with?

    Rant over

  3. There is only 1 thing on Tao that is reasonably priced and that is the diving. EVERYHING and I mean EVERYTHING else is a total and utter rip off. the last time I was there EVERY gas station tried to rip me off. 1 even tried totell me he had put 12 1/2 litres in a tank no bigger than 7 litres which already had 2 litres in it. Even the 7/11 rip you off. Beer, water, crisps, pot noodles, everything is far more than anywhere else in Thailand. The bike rentals are criminal as well and the police do nothing. One of the worst being the farang guy at the top of the high street. Think leather shorts!!!! Only when peole stop renting or buying will things change. I for one was glad to see the back of it. Now I jump on a ferry for any diving and leave the next day and I spend nothing on Tao.

    tight northern git

  4. A non smoking liveaboard.........Id be on board if there was a choice. Will any of the operators here take up the challenge?

it's definately in the wind, our guests from overseas are generally non-smokers - local divers and the Thai boys smoke though. we have smoking only on the top deck, down wind from me. if i had my way , I'd ban it but after a week at sea they'd be going mad.

what a messy bunch smokers are too, they're grown up enough to smoke and play with matches but can't control their ash.

i don't think we should mix evil smoking and lovely beer, how can you dive without a cold Heine after?

  5. had it about two years, pretty much bypassed the twins route and went for the evo

great to dive with, and less deco obligation etc

only downside is the ridiculous price of them

I thought it was because you were too fat to carry the twins and deco cyls. and too tight to pay for open-circuit helium.

thats all nice, but these aren't high sea cats, these boats were made for inland waters amd have been put into service in the gulf of thailand.

The Gulf isn't quite comparable to high seas. 3 meter swells in bad weather. The deepest point in the Gulf is 80 meters, and I haven't found anywhere in between the islands that is deeper that 30 meters. The Lomprayah's cats are well suited for the gulf.

The Gulf certainly is comparable to the high seas, the relatively shallow water makes navigation more difficult as the seas kick up very quickly with a very short wave-length. it's easy to get caught out, especially at this time of year with a northerly wind.

We dive the whole Gulf looking for shipwrecks and most we've found, apart from WW2 US submarine victims, have succumbed to storms. some of these ships are modern , fully equipped military and merchant vessels upto 10,000 tons.

The boat we own was the very first Seatran , now MV Trident, a 100ft heavy steel monohull. vessel. Maybe I'm a bit biased but I certainly like a monohull in rough weather - the Lomprayah can slam about a bit and spill your beer.post-54077-1194504718_thumb.jpg
