  1. Hi all,

    Few questions if i may!

Regarding the biometric residence section on the FLR form, i was wondering if some could advise?

My wife is applying for herself and 2 dependents, but there is only space to put one applicant the details. Can i print out two more copies of section 9 and attached it all to cover all three applicants?

My wife doesn't have a BRP card, as she came before that was a requirement. The two dependent children only arrived this year though so have the BRP cards, and i want to include the details of their cards.

For other sections where you have dependents, it says to photocopy the blank form and attach it, i presume that's ok to do for the biometric section also?

Do i need to submit my wifes payslips? In the financial section it asks for her pay details etc which i have filled in, but do i need to prove it? We are applying using my salary as the evidence of financial requirement and i have all my payslips etc

Bank statements...we have enclosed 2 that are stamped barclay bank copies. Will this be OK? They have our address and Barclays were happy to stamp them, but they said they can't issue coloured originals again.

Nearly there then got everything else in order i think!

  2. Hi 7by7!

Thanks so much for the usual awesome advice.

So in our case i think best to wait till 27th September to apply. I get paid on the 18th, so will be within the 28 days document rule.

In terms of the English test, we have A1 secured from before, and were not sure of the cut off...so took B1 trinity last week and aced it. Thought that might be best for the ILR application anyway providing it is still valid.

One other question actually whilst i have your attention...i was just reading the form, and it appears that i can apply for my wife 2 dependent children on the same form?

My wife 2 children joined us from Thailand this year to live on her spouse, and also expires same time. I thought it was 3 different applications, but appears like only one form in this case for FLR? 3 different charges for NHS & fees obviously.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi all,

Just a quick FLR M date check for application if i may.....

Spouse Visa valid from 29/01/14 - 29/10/16. This is the first time visa in the UK.

    Arrival date in UK 27-03-14

    Therefore i have it as 27/03/14 + 30 months = 27/09/16.

I have most of the documents ready to go, just wondering if there is a deadline, other than the 29th October? I know its 28 days before 30 months in the UK, which is now effectively...but i wasn't sure if i had to have the documents in 28 days before expiry date or something.

Also just want to make sure i'm in line with the 28 day rule on financial documents.

Was concerned there may be a gap for ILR, had i applied too early, so if someone can just give me a quick bit of advice that would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

  4. No i didnt get that impression at all, it was a good point to be made and well received.

It was online last year also, and i do have a note of the login my wife created at the time.

So i guess my plan of action will be to use old login (update her details for UK though first), then fill them out and sign them before sending over hard copy with the application.

On the online 'select visa type', am i right in saying its the below?

    Reason for visit - settlement

    Visa type - settlement

Visa sub type - child or other dependent of settled person.

In terms of the appendix 2 financial document, i seem to remember this being fill out manually and not online, and sent with the application. This sound right to you?

  5. Hi 7by7,

Yes some great advice here, we have no reason to lie at all or even to be fair exaggerate the story...it is what it is and both my wife and myself are desperate to ensure the children are in a stable environment with correct care. They had this before ok, but now certainly not going forward into the new year.

My wife has the por khor 14, we were not thinking this actually proves the responsibility side..but will certainly include it.

In terms of the correct application form, can you point me in the direction of it? I have the appendix 2 ones, but not sure what i need for the children themselves.

Ahh actually whilst on this point, my wife filled out her own form last year, but for the kids as they are so young they cant fill out for themselves..will my wife be ok to fill it out on their behalf?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi Bob,

Yes indeed i understand its a potential nightmare, but to be honest we have to go for it as we have no other choice!

When my wife came over last year the kids were going to a boarding type school where the aunt was looking after them (also was teacher at the school). I wasn't on the right salary anyway, and we thought it best to leave the kids there until they finished school first (documented this).

Things have now changed and the aunt no longer cares to look after them, so my wifes cousin took them on a temporary basis to live with her (from chiang mai to isaan). She can only look after them temporarily, so we have no idea what to do with them if they were not able to join us!

The cousin documents all the money we send and what she spends it on and sends back to us, also sends over all the permission slips from the school for my wife to sign. Daily contact and all the rest of it so not sure what else can be done. Father has been a no show for the last 10 years and no contact there whatsoever.

Both myself and my wife want to move to Thailand in about 5 years anyway, but i have no degree so wont be able to get a job there to support us all! I have started a part time degree, and once thats done we would like to move to Thailand...but until that point we have no other choice but to make a move for the kids to come over!

  7. Hi all,

Quick question, i am soon applying for my wifes two children to join us in the UK on her spouse visa.

When i did my wifes visa, i did a folder with all the documents supporting, and an additional copies folder.

No i need to do the same process for each child, like a folder and copy folder each?

Some of my documents i have just the one main copy (such as bills and payslips etc), how do i combat that if i submit two separate applications?

Confused, as i seem to remember that if i brought my wifes children with her at the same time i could have done it all together in the one folder.

    Thanks for any advice!

  8. Hey Deano,

Best of luck with your application...going through the same thing myself!

My wife came over March last year, and she left 2 kids in boarding school being looked after by her aunt (friend of family really). She thought it best for them to stay in Thailand and finish education (11 & 14 aged), and then maybe get a visa for them when they are older to go to university in UK. We noted this on the previous spouse application, and actually meant it to be honest, but this change of circumstances has really forced our hand.

The relationship fell apart with this woman after a few months, so we went back to Thailand in November and moved them over to Isaan to be under the care of my wifes cousin. The kids Dad has had no part to play in their lives in many years..there has been no contact even from anyone oh his side in about 7 years.

At this point in November we decided we had to bring them over sooner rather than later, as the cousin said she cant watch them forever (she's only 26). Unfortunately i wasnt on required salary to get 2 kids over, plus we didnt have adequate accommodation.

I have now been on the required salary now for 10 months, and we moved into adequate accommodation a few months ago. Now we have been saving up for the very expensive visa fees for 2 children!

Hopefully will be applying in the next month, will look for legal advice probably though first.

We actually thought about moving back to Thailand to take care of the kids, but i have no degree so wouldn't be able to get a job.

    Best of luck!

  9. Hi,

Just starting to look at building my wifes child settlement visa for her 2 children to join us in the UK (on her settlement visa).

As we are putting together an application for both children, do i need to do a support folder for both separately? I have a lot of the documents already done and all my payslips etc...but do i need to have 2 lots of each? My payslips are the old style tear off ones so not sure if i can get another official one.

Also will it be 2 application forms?

I have read a lot on the subject and know all the difficulties faced with sole responsibility etc...but couldn't find info on the actual application itself!

    Thanks!

    Ed

  10. Hi All,

Going back to Thailand with my wife for 2 weeks holiday in Nov, she has been here since March on a spouse visa.

Just had a thought when we come back through immigration...do i need to carry all my visa documents again like when we first came through?

I thought i would have our letters to say we still live together, marriage certificate and i will bring my payslips to show im still earning more than required amount (albeit a new job).

Will they be needed? Wife has a job here, all our documents are in order. Just know how IOs can be sometimes at the desk!

I'm sure this has happened countless times, anyone have any recent experience?

  11. Hey hope you are all well,

Am in Thailand at the moment helping my wife get everything organised for our big move to England next Thursday, and have been going through the documents used for the succesful application.

My question is what do i need to keep for the next visa app in 30 months time?

For the immigration desk next week at Heathrow i have kept the TB and English certificates as well as marriage certificates just in case they ask.

Do i still need the mountain of paperwork for western union/skype/paypal/travel tickets/payslips/bankstatements??

Not looked into the next step visa yet and what documents are required.

My proposed list to keep is:

    • Marriage/TB/English certificates
    • Wifes original details (tanbien baan/divorce etc)
    • Original accommodation certificates

That leaves the following list to scrap:

    • Skype/phone/email/facebook records
    • Bank statements
    • Payslips
    • Western union/papyal records
    • Phone records

Anyone else been in my position that can offer advice? I have started a folder for the next stage visa already, but only the flight to England so far to add to it!

    Cheers!

  12. Hi all hope you are well,

My wife spouse visa for the UK was granted in February, and I am going to get her this week. We will take a holiday in Thailand first, before both arriving to the UK at the end of this month J

My question is there anything specific I should be doing for the moment she gets to the immigration desk? I presume I can go through with her to the non EU part in case she gets any questions about me.

I was going to take the documents folder we used for the successful application just in case, but I guess she was granted a visa in the first place so should be no issue?

    Many thanks!

  13. Hi,

So got the call this morning to say visa approved! Very nervous wait as they sent the "decision has been made email" on Thursday.

Bit of background on our situation, we met nearly 7 years ago and been back and forward to see each other many times, she came over for 6 weeks last year..and we were married Jan 2013. We aimed to do the visa process straight away, but had many complications along the way!

This forum has been invaluable for me as we went through the tourist visa first, and now the spouse visa process. A few points i would like to make about the process which i hope might help some people as they use the forums search box looking for answers (i did many times!)

    Financial

I have been on a temporary contract for two years (weekly pay), but that didn't hinder me in any way. I used my last 26 weeks payslips, and sent them off to my agency and had each one stamped as they don't use the old 'tear off' style payslips (online issued). I also had an index page of each payslip so the ECO could work out my earnings easily without having to go through each one! Submitted official bank statements as well and highlighted each pay in of my weekly wage.

I also did not submit a P60 as the period i started my 26 weeks was actually May. I thought this might be an issue but the guidelines were clear that i was to submit one if it was in the period required. Reason i didnt submit one was that my earnings before this period were a bit hit and miss due to being agency and not having paid days off for Christmas etc, and although i was over the 18.6k required...it was a bit disjointed and would have been confusing!

I also had a 1000 pound overdraft which i was in constant use of, but i submitted a letter from Natwest saying it was in good order etc.

    Accommodation

I live with my sister and she very kindly submitted all the ownership documents (land registy, council tax and utilty and mortgage statement). We did not submit housing inspection report...but what i did submit was actually the Zoopla website print out which had all the details of the house, and detailed all the rooms in a document with all the pictures. We actually stayed there with my wife on her holiday last year so that would have helped.

    Communication

We have been together for 7 years so i had mountains of paperwork, but submitted 20 pages of skype, 20 pages of facebook messenger and the screenshot of emails. We also submitted 30 photos of our time together (printed on A4 and indexed). Included a lot of pics outside London landmarks which i thought helped!

    Putting it all together

I used an A4 plastic binder which was not ring binded, but actually had 50 plastic wallets inside which meant the VFS couldn't take it apart and easily fitted into the jiffy bag they use. Each section was indexed with sticky labels and had a cover letter for each section so the ECO had easy access to anything they wanted and wouldn't miss anything.

All in all i was pretty confident, but heard horror stories of things being missed so was very nervous the last few days!

I want to give a big thanks to everyone that has helped, particulary 7by7 and TonyM for their informative and very helpful advice. You are kings amongst men!

One quick question i have though is on the validity of the visa..Its valid from 29/1/14 until 29/10/16...but when is the latest she can enter the UK?

I am looking to go out there beginning of March and take two weeks holiday with my wife and we will return together after. Will this be ok? I read somewhere that she will have 3 months from the start date in which to come to England (so she can get her affairs sorted there). Is this true?

  14. Hi all!

Ok just going to fill out the VAF4a finally on their new upgraded website, and im presented the following 2 options...

"Please select Apply For Myself to start your visa application.

If you are applying on behalf of some one else please select Apply For Someone Else"

Last year i filled out the form online myself for the tourist visa, and my wife printed it out and signed it. In this case shall i follow that same route or shall i click 'apply for someone else'??

Can't remember getting that option on the old site last time around, and not sure if this means if i apply on my wifes behalf she will have to do anything else.

Anyone have any experience with this?
