  1. I've just got a 3 month type 'O' marriage visa from Khota Baru, but as my income is partially from the UK and partially from my Thai wife's business I can't meet the requirements of the British Embassy in BKK to get the letter needed for a 1 year extension in Thailand.

Does anyone know if there is a consulate in any neighbouring country that will issue me a one year multiple entry without proof of income?

If not, does anyone know if I can just keep going back to Khota Baru every three months for a new 3 month one?

  2. I'm very interested in this subject as I was crippled by a drunk driver in a 4x4 16 months ago and have major problems getting around and from the attitudes of many Thais. Tho' the local ones here on Koh Tao always give a smile and a thumbs up when they see me out on my crutches.

  3. I'm just about to do my second one (am I mad I ask myself) You only need the typed affirmation letter for the embassy (3,500 baht), you can then go to any licensed English language school (200 baht) or to the Foreign Ministry (400 baht) for a translation. Then go to any Amphur in the country where there is no fee to pay to be married. Good luck

  4. While I havent used it (have no need).. Do all versions of vista have BitLocker or only the higher ones.

As far as I know only Vista Ultimate has the bitlocker facility wich you download with Windows updater. But, I could be wrong.

  5. Pardon?

The internal rate is as above, however the international quoted mid-rate is 29.8232 THB to 1 USD

    Regards

Works both ways on the exchange.....

just got dosh from Aus: Au$2900 converted by BankTransfer (ITT) into: 84,699 Baht in my Bangkok Bank a/c....

i.e. 29.20 baht to the Au$....... have not seen 29.8 to 30.50 for months....sigh..... good for you.

But according to the 'offshore rate' at Xe.com , those Au$ are only worth : 77,552.53 THB @ 26.7423

which would lose me nearly 30,000 Baht....... on a 300,000 baht monthly retainer....... nearly 10% in the ether....each month?

    go figure?

    regz to all.

Xe.com has always been inacurate, if you want to know the current rates just check the BKK Bank online.

I may be wrong but there seems to be an annual fluctuation in the Baht. I've noticed over the last five years that the Baht gains against other currencies around high season time and drops again around May. Is this to make more money from tourism by giving the tourists less Baht for their currencies and make things more expensive for them?
