You could always use the United States original voting rules. Only allow male land owners vote.
That would be no good as many of these peasants own next to worthless land in the Issaan region. There realy does need to be action taken though to stop these people holding back the Kingdom.

Does anybody have the photo of him kissing the ground ?? Well some more excitement in the Politics of Thailand !!!
He never kissed the ground, he placed his hands flat on the ground and then placed his forehead on the backs of his hands.

If peasants sell there vote for a swill of whisky or a mobile phone top-up card, then, yes i do think they should lose the right to vote.
If Farangs were able to Vote 99% would vote for Thaksin if he allowed them to own land and have easy Visa's.
Still think people that think they would benefit should not have the right to vote?
Hey, like i said, if people sell there vote they should have the voting right removed. I also think peoples votes could be graded on education, say someone who left school without a diploma, vote is worth half a point, left with diploma then vote is worth 1 point, university degree, vote worth 1.5 points, masters 2 points. Something along those lines.

Yes, the uneducated rural masses.
Last time I looked, they have full rights to vote, are you suggesting that these people should loose that right ? Pretty scary thoughts.
And I'm sure they are not all uneducated. Of course I guess it would be a convenient way for you to explain his popularity.
Time for a reality check.

They voted for him because they are uneducated, they voted for him because they were paid to, blah, blah, blah.
Time to change the record.
It's true though.
No it's not.
You really believe that Thai people are stupid, you really believe that a bunch of farangs, who (short from becomming Thai) have no rights to run for office or to even vote know better ?
I don't like Thaksin one bit, but the fact is that he is very popular among a very large group of voters, vote buying has nothing (or very little) to do with that.
Indeed time to change the record, the sounds is awwfull.
Yes, the uneducated rural masses.

They are saying Gasoline will be $4.00 A gal in the US by the spring travel season, I think this make the dollar drop again fast. Maybe after the first of the year with a new president it may get better . let hope so as I get my dollars from US retirement.
Last July the tax alone on a gallon was the equivelant to $3.41 in the UK. Don't know what it stands at right now but i'm sure the price of a gallon won't be under $8.

When I came to Thailand in 1990 it was 25 Baht to a Dollar, don't be surprised to see it again within 2 years.
My friend who works for Price Waterhouse Cooper in Bangkok thinks that it will hit this level pre 2009 so long as there is no military interferance within the government.

wow, another shocker. women picking a partner based on financial means. I'm just guessing here, but don't many or even most women the world wide pick partners in whole or in large part based on financial means? Kon deowgan, na krab.
I don't, but i have found that guy's tend to generaly be insecure when they realise they have access to far less wealth than the female, they can also feel quite intimidated at the prospect of having to negotiate in a social circle that feels very alien to them and the up-bringing they have had.
Chloe.
Edit: I should have stated that i'm talking about western men as i have never dated a Thai guy or any other Asian.

Parental Kidnapping is not a crime in Thailand and Thai authorities will not issue a warrant or become involved should one parent take a child without the other parent's authorization.
If you are from the US look here http://travel.state.gov/family/abduction/c...ountry_528.html

Hi-
I want my sister to send me 2 pairs of hair straightners over to Thailand from the UK, each pair retails at about 150 GBP and are almost unavailable in Thailand or at a massively inflated cost, they are brand new and still in the boxes.
I want to give them as gifts to my friends (twins) for birthday presents at the end of the month.
Now the questions i have are concerning import tax/duty, what is the best way to send the items here to avoid paying anything? Should i have the package marked as 'gift' and at a low value? Who is the best company to mail them through, and does anyone have any experience, good or bad in a simmilar situation?
I want to keep the gifts un-opened and in the original packaging.
Thank's for any advice offered

No, the lungs are not filled with water. Very small amounts of water even enter the mouth. The target can breath through the nose at all times, but the heightened level of stress will still cause flight-reactions [as all animals have] and make the target more likely to cooperate to avoid more turns.
Hmm i think this guy may know just a little more than you about the subject or is he wrong also?
Interrogation expert Malcolm Nance, who serves as a counterterrorism and intelligence consultant for the U.S. government and was formerly an instructor at the Navy's Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape school in California, did not mince when detailing the dangers of waterboarding, the highly controversial interrogation technique to which he was previously subjected.
"I didn't feel like I was about to die, but I understood that the process of degrading my respiratory system was taking effect," he said in an interview with ABC News' Brian Ross. "I was drowning."
Nance experienced this simulation during staff instructor training at the Navy school. Because the staff must be exposed to all of the processes any student would ever encounter, the dangerous tactic was required as well.
"I know my first thought was, 'I'm being tortured,'" he said, "'and this is not a simulation.'"
Nance, who has served 17 years with the Navy, pointed out that waterboarding videos circulating in the media don't accurately depict the procedure, which he says involves "a very rapid process where a person is put onto a table and then water is introduced to the point where it overcomes their ability to swallow or spit it away, eventually filling the lungs".
On Wednesday, Nance told a House subcommittee that "waterboarding should be banned." As an instructor, Nance conducted "prisoner of war and terrorist hostage survival programs," according to an AP report.

Simulated drowning !!! . What's simulated about it? Did they just play a video game or something? Sick or what? Kind of makes you wonder who the enemies and terrorists really are
It's called waterboarding and is highly simulated. You trigger the targets reflexes of fear of drowning, nothing else. No physical damage is done.
Of course there is physical damage done, the lungs are filled with water during the procedure, how could physical damage not be done?
