  1. Hi Guys,

Anyone know if the FirstSeaview hotel in Bangrak is still going, the one at the end of Bangrak on the left if you were heading towards fishermans village (use to be called Beach House Samui)...i've been trying to call them to book a room but no luck, not sure if its because the number has changed/they have gone bust/closed for the month etc etc.

Has anyone happened to drive past recently and seen it open ? Or better still got a number or email for them ?

    Cheers !

  2. I did the same trip recently, booked taxi in advance, very good service, turned up on time no problem. Was 2400 from BKK > HH, but if you got the return the total price was 3400. Got the guys email if you want it (good english, no problems). If you get one from the airport without booking then of course they will stripe you up a bit.

  3. just remembered i forgot to come back and post about the stay. In the end, both the Jed P and Nilawan were full, so i ended up staying in a palce called Baan Radjamern just down near soi 67. That was ok, nice pool and decent rooms, if a little overpriced. It was right on the beach, but i found that all the beaches the tide was a long way out, guess it must have just been the time of year. Getting around was no problem on the motorbike, thanks for all your tips !

  4. Thanks All, i am going for either the Narawan or the Jed Pee Nong i think, they both have availability so just deciding between the 2 of them as the price is 1200 for both. Probably the Jed P Nong, as i have also read a few things about the trains around Narawan, so probably wont risk it as the mrs is unlikely to be as comatose as i am after a skinful !

    Cheers

  5. Hi Guys,

Thinking of coming over to Hua Hin at the end of April for a week rather than going off to Samui like i usually do. Since i have never been there before, wonder if anyone could give me a couple of tips on the best areas to stay ?

I'll be with the mrs this time, so looking for something near a beach and near a few bars/restaurants, but not in a really dead busy area if that is possible ?

Not sure on the size of the place, but if it has remote areas then probably want to give those a miss for the hotl...What i'm trying to avoid, is being stuck in one particular area, as would like to get around (presume you can hire motorbikes like everywhere else in Thailand ?) and look at different places, but also have the option of the area we are staying to go down to beach, have a drink, have a decent meal etc when we can't be arsed driving anywhere.

Anybody got any tips ? Also any hotels in your recommended areas would be great to know as well.

    Cheers !

  6. Hi,

Appreciate this really belongs on the visa section but though i would post here as Penang used to be the decnt place to go from Samui for your visas....

Does anyone have any idea if its still a bit hit and miss obtaining the 60 day tourist visa down in Penang ? I have seem some posts from last year saying there could be problems depending on how many you previously had, whether you had the 30 day extension etc etc but no recent news. I always used to goto Penang and use a local agent (Jimmys), but dont really want to venture down there from Samui only to get turned down.

Has anybody recently been to Penang and had a problems ?

    Cheers

  8. Hi,

Just wondering where the best beaches are around Phukhet (ie, good for swimming and not overrun with people and sunbeds), staying around Patong and i recall the beach isn't the best so would like to get out and about in the daytime to sweat out the old hangover. If anyone has any recommendations of beaches not too far to get to, then be appreciated.

    Cheers

  9. Hi,

has anyone got any recommendations for a hotel around Patong beach area, like not too far from Bangla rd, but not to close to it !

Somewhere around 1500 baht tops, where they dont try and charge extra to bring a guest back.

    Any recommendations gratefully received..

    Cheers

  10. Hi there,

Not been over to Pattaya for a couple of years and just scouting around for a cheapish, clean hotel. I always used to stay at the ice inn near the Apex and that was spot on. Since ive not been for a couple of years i'm wondering if anyone knows anyone who stayed there recently and whether it was still upto scratch ?

Roof garden inn is another place im looking at but seems a bit out of the way to me.

    Any recommendations ?

    Cheers

  11. Hi All,

Can anyone advise if there is a proper dry day on the 23rd, or is it one of those ..nah..not really.. kind of ones ?

Reason is i'm planning on flying over from Hong Kong for that weekend but just noticed its a public holiday i recall from Samui before that some dry days are not really, wheras some run for almost 2 days (ie midnight the night before) and some are half, just wondering if anyone knows if the Chulalongkorn Day day will be in Pattaya ?

    Cheers

  12. Evening,

Just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience and got a good result out of it......my g/f submitted a strong (i think) app for a visitors visa on Tuesday...today she was told she can pick up her passport, but it was too late to go today so she has to wait until Monday to find out the result which is a bit of a mare.

Anyway, they never called her to ask any questions etc etc, this is her 1st application, so i'm presuming she has just been refused outright.

Just wondering if anyone had ever got a visitors visa approved so quickly without an interview and is this normal ?

    Here's hoping.

    Cheers

  13. Well, i think most of this has been said already mate, whats happened has happened but stay well clear of Lamai for a few weeks and dont go back in Fusion again, as everyone has said...you can be the best fighter in the world but you wil have no chance against bricks and bike chains, or a gun.

And don't think it doesn't happen, coz i got cracked over the head with a gun a couple of years ago when i was riding home and dont think the police will help you, because they didn't want to know in my case, even though i just got mugged (no fighting or standing on girls feet etc).

Good luck with the girl, again, there isnt a person on here who hasn't had the same story from a bargirl, 99% of them are talking rubbish....but u never know...she may in the 1% category. If she starts hitting you for money, then you will know. She'll do it in a subtle way, but you'll still know

    Good luck

  14. Hi,

Just briefly - going to be applying for a visitors visa for the girlfriend, got all the required docs (i hope) after reading this website, but just have one question.

I currently live and work in Hong Kong and if we get the visa we will be flying out of HK, to the UK and back. Does anyone know if the visa should be applied for at the UK embassy in Hong Kong rather than Bangkok. I realise the g/f will make the application herself (she is in BK now) and that if you get the visa it doesn't matter where you are flying from, but just wondering with me working in HK whether she should be applying here as all my bank statements etc etc show a job and wages in Hong Kong, rather than the UK.

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers
