I'm an American living in Isaan for one year doing research for my thesis on western expat communities. I'm a PhD student in anthropology at the University of Melbourne (where I've been living the past year). I lived in Thailand three years ago (for six months) and didsome research on the same topic for my MA thesis (interviewing some men livingthroughout Thailand). I spent the most time living in BKK, as I was taking courses for a semester at Thammasat. I'm looking forward to being in Isaan this year and meeting a lot of nice and interesting people!
