  1. Abhisit is a "cockroach" politician of the 1st class standard and pushed into office by the strong arm of the PAD with the highest level of backing.

His cabinet of self serving corrupt greed crazed clowns are the problem and their demise is the solution.

The world has come to know that Thailand is not a 'real' democracy no matter how well the effort is to conceal the fact.

    LET THE RED RALLY ROLL!!

  2. When I first moved here I used to feel safer than I did at home in Canada. Once I opened my eyes a bit and started to see what was going on around me that changed. I found this website that may give you something to think about as well http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_...ders-per-capita

....checkout the stats for your own country (Canada)...not exactly something to be proud of... I'd take Thailand over the great white north any day of the year. :)

  3. I am married to a wonderful Thai lady, we have been married for a long time now but are now looking to move back home to the UK next year, not just because of what happened to Andrew, but because we want to start a family. Even my wife who has always been a fiercely proud Thai say's she does not want her child raised in Thailand because it is full of "Greedy and Stupid people" but mainly because I just feel safer in my own country (Regardless of the violence in the UK) and also because I will not get kicked out of a hospital bed if I am in dire need of medical care!

Yes, you are paranoid. I wonder what your wife will say about U.K society after living there for a while. My bet is that you will be loading up the family wagon and heading back to LOS. Yes,shit happens here and the corruption(greed and stupidity) is obscene beyond belief.

I have chosen to raise my family 8-mons here and 4-mons in Canada. At this point we feel that Thailand is by far a better environment for our children to grow up in (ChiangMai).

  4. "dam dirty apes"....as charlie Heston would most likely have said. The Tuks are simply the 'cockroach' of the motor world, I've yet to be behind one that was not billowing toxic fumes and driving erratically. They are a joke and best not used-at all.

Phuket?.... FINISHED!!! many years ago.....I feel a touch sorry for the fools who have settled their.

I take my family to Langawi and have a delightful beach vacation free of the 'scum' that populate the Thai resort areas.

  5. I am in the tourist business in Chiang Mai and I can tell you the market is DEAD!, everyone is suffering up here.

On the other hand I notice an increase in Farang taking up residence here, particularly families and couples.

I believe that since the advent of instance communication(internet) people (especially young) have clued-in about Thailand's increasing reputation as a 'rip-off' destination. The flip-side is that Thailand does offer good value for living compared to the (over) developed Nations of the world. Makes for a strong incentive to "wait out the (economic)storm" here and (maybe) save money to boot :) .

  6. I showed up to the Vancouver Thai embassy with my wife and 6-mon old daughter to apply for a triple entry tourist visa and was told for $175cad I could get a 1-yr.non-imm visa if I had the marriage license to show, there was no mention of needing to hold a bank account et.. Instead I insisted on the triple Tourist visa since it is 'free', but received a double... she said because they are free and won't issue a longer stay.

As usual, the short term Thai view misses the point that if I stay longer I will spend more money in the country. :)

  7. I enjoy going to the wife's village for a max. stay of 3-days, it takes me about another 3-days to recover from all the hard drinking, strange food and barnyard sounds.... those bloody chickens drive me crazy!!. People here work hard and play hard and are very kind and hospitable ,I admire them for their uncorrupted down to the earth living arrangements....BUT, absolutely not for me for long term, I suppose if I had to, I would adapt to it at some point but without it feeling like a prison sentence.

  8. If you have money, Thailand is THE place to live. I live at a much higher standard than in Canada and don't miss a thing except fresh air and panoramic mountain vista along with great beer & vine..... for that we spend 3 months a year there. BUT,both my wife and I prefer Thailand in the bigger picture. :)

  9. I read an article some time back that said Thailand has the 2nd highest hand gun murder rate in the world (not per.capita)

In a country of smiling Buddhists that good ol' daily denial can and does turn to full blown vengeance rather quickly.

Thailand is/was consider "finished" years ago. An endless stream of liars and cheaters working all levels of the tourist trade has tarnished the glossy reputation of the Thai-Smile. :)

Too bad... but it is still great to be living here at a quite ex-pat level completely dis-connected from the horrors of daily Thai-life.

  10. I would have thought a substantial weakening of the Thai Baht would have a better effect. Plenty of tourists 2 years ago because what counts is value for money.

'Value' can be found in the expat average lifestlye in Thailand, but I wonder about the beaten-to-death- tourist path. Last month my 25yr old nephew and friend came to Thailand for their first and most likely their last visit to Thailand. The 2 months they traveled south to north they got plenty tired of being fleeced every step of their way. Finally they flew to Balito "escape" Thailand and said to have enjoyed it there much more.- cheaper everything and with "real" local people.

There is a new generation of travelers landing daily to LOS and a new generation of 'blood-sucking leeches' ready for business.

Next time I take my family to the south for a beach holiday I am heading WAY south, like to Langawi - The Thai-holiday has lost a great deal of value over the years and Thailand seems to be carving out a bad reputation for un-happy holidays. :)

  11. Last year, my girlfriend, now wife, got her temp.res visa without much struggle. We requested 3-months and the embassy gave it to her,but said 'we give you this BUT they may give you something else'. We heard about the 6-month entry stamp upon arrival, but all the bitch(they) at immigration gave her was 49-days - case closed. That dose of ill-will threw a monkey wrench into our travel plans.

She did arrive alone to Vancouver and had to go through an interview process that was more like a spotlighted brow-beating.

That still really pisses me off when I think about all the *%$3# taxes I have paid over the years. Oh,well, just another reason why I live in Thailand! :o

  12. I just tried to discuss with my wife the 2 dead in the riots which she was apalled at and the 220 deaths on the road which I was apalled at. Sadly as I have found with many discussions like this she was disinterested " up to them" her comment, I mentioned how about the folk walking on the pavement that get run down by them who didnt choose to drink and drive, " I got pain my tummy" came next and frustratingly this is how many of our "serious" chats often end up or with "u correct" which means she doesnt want to talk about this anymore.

Anyone else get these type of responses? I get disheartened at times by it.

Thai-people are not known for their intellectual temperament. Being married to a Thai may mean you will have to find a new source for intellectual stimulation.

  13. Massage parlour minimum age

On April 16, another controversial law is being enforced. After that date, massage parlors can no longer employ anyone under the age of 40, and are required to register all employees as such. This will minimize the request by customers for "extra services" which can cause problems with marriages and minor wives.

Great idea, get rid of all the inexperienced young chicks who don't know what they are doing and then can't keep theirs mouths shut.

    ....... But what about 'the happy-ending' !!!!!! :o

  14. Tragic of course for all involved, but why is it that people who "love Thailand" and spend three years travelling here not try to understand some simple dos and don'ts in Thailand?

It looks like this poor man was violently killed and put his wife's life at risk of being killed also as he reacted to the situation by being "Jai Ron". This whole problem can be seen every night in Pattaya and many die and are seriously injured for the very same reason but with less publicity.

Hey, the story is about a couple anchored at sea, not sitting on bar stools in sleazeville pattaya.

When someone boards your vessel unannounced it does not evoke a smiling "sawat-dee".... it is a shoot first ask questions later situation.

I wouldn't even blink while blowing those boys overboard with my Glock 17.

Everybody knows that boats at sea are never approached without fair warning. Those boys may have been hungry, but I doubt if that was their only motive. Jai-Ron , Jai-Dee .. how about Dead or Alive... jezzes!

  15. When the tourist industry goes bad blame the foreigner. When a foreigner is killed, blame the foreigner. Do whatever it takes to shift anything that could place the blame at a local's feet away.....

Don't ya know yet.... in Thailand the customer is ALL-WAYS wrong, geeze! :o

  16. Nope I was a kid once.. But until I was a well behaved toddler my parents had enough good manners and common sense to realise that babies don't belong on long haul international flights... There's no need to be transporting screaming infants on planes.. Wait till they are older... Now cue all the 'I have to take my baby on holiday types'' :o My advice, stay at home with your kid till it stops crying, screaming and vomiting... Or give it a large brandy so everybody else can sleep.. After 50 hours of travelling the last thing I need is a fidgety kid and it's neurotic mother sat next to me... As I said I can't even escape them in business class .... The place 'supposedly' where you can get a rest between work places.. not.. Now what to rant about next... Overweight people who have paid for one seat but wat 1/2 of mine too.. Or lazy second rate parents that let their kids run up and down the isle and disturb the other passengers ?....

Those are hilarious cabin scenarios that most people who travel have at least once encountered. On the other hand, who the %#2* do you think you are saying their is "no need" to transport infants? Not everyone lives on a bar stool in Thailand chasing babies for kicks , %$@3 for brains! you sound very intolerable and must live in a state of perpetually torment in Thailand. Geeze! Jai Yen Yen, goof ball!

  17. My compassion is towards the child. Just pick up a newspaper. Parents murdering children happens quite often and murder-suicides are often part of the picture. It is just too risky for the child to be allowed to live with a man who has already openly threatened to murder him. While I think western societies often go over the top on hysterically protecting children from the real world, this is too much risk and anyone responsible would feel the same. It is a tragedy for the child and the man, but not as tragic as what may have happened, and may still happen if they are not permanently separated. I hardly think I am rabid.

Yes, the father is mentally ill and that is sad, but that wouldn't make the baby any less dead if he killed him, and fathers who kill their babies are pretty much ALWAYS mentally ill, wouldn't you say?

...Well said , just out of curiosity I wonder how many TaT's the bitch had that left him & baby dangling on the edge of despair? :o

  18. The farang should have kept his mouth shut, but the Doctor should have known better than hitting him over the head with a bottle. He's a doctor for crying out.

.....He is also a Thai, the bottle treatment is a given when anyone gets pass 1 & 2 with a Thai man or women... and then they run like hel_l. :o
