  1. The park he is talking about runs beside the city river on the edge of the inner city.

The feeding of fish is mainly on the crossover walking bridge, a chinese temple on the city send and the walking park at the other end.

    I love Loei.

Then the floating raft on the lake lunch..

  2. Been to Loei maybe 6 or 7 times and never seen any ham radio or electronics enthuses or hobbyists.

Otherwise always a quiet holiday eating drinking seeing friends etc.

Some one got some thoughts and ideas during a four week stay.

  3. I'm afraid that Tesco Lotus made a big mistake as far as locating a new store. Early on it became apparent that there would be opposition. Had they built a new store south of Loei on 201 near the car dealerships, they would now be open and the location would be more convenient to the nearest large town, Wang Saphung.

As it is, I don't expect to ever see it open.

And the parking plus a very busy road plus KFC does not do much for me.

There was talk of a large supermarket being built on 201 south of Loei opposite

    the airport.

But talking with locals it seems to have failed , somedont wish to sell there land.

  4. Is there a easy way to fly from Udon thani to Chaig Mai.

I already have a return flight booked from Dong to Udon but we are thinking of going further up the country.

Dont really wont to go all the way back to doung and then up to north.

I had a quick look at the maps and think it would take say 10 hours by car which is a sore bum trip.

Many years ago I went by car from Loei to Phrae which was way to long for me.

    All the best for Christmas

    fred :)

  5. Hello Sparkles

I have been to visit my wifes parents / family 7 times in 10 years as they live not far from Loei airport.

I have never seen any trouble etc and go into town via 201 on any motorbike that isnt being used around home.

The only close calls I have had is at the main roundabout in the city. Who gives way to who ?

Loei is very quiet ,the brother in law is a school teacher so I tend to get to see the the local schools etc.

Things are not what I saw on my first visit money etc has seen the closing of several food / eating out places near the river etc.

My stays were of 6 weeks at a time and never reallly got bored ,found the leo beer was cheap etc .

Took a six pack of Coopers beer from South Australia and the locals enjoyed it.

I have seen few non thais in the city and on my last holiday / visit took my sony shortwave radio with me to

    listen to Radio Australia.

The idea of retiring there is tempting.

I would be interested in exchanging emails etc with english speaking people living in and around Loei.

    regards

    Fred
