Anyone having trouble logging in to British TV without any problem
-
I saw a Condo advertised on the lobby board of Ka Ha Condo at the top of Treprast road, the rear building, not the one one the main road by the market, from the pictures it looked very nice saying new renovation sea and mountain views Baht 7,500 for long term rental
-
The "Seasoned" response from those of us who have been here a while, would have been to sum up the situation, and just pay the Baht 1000, the consequences could have been a lot worse, I am not suggesting in this case that the victim lost his cool, but it has been known, that does not excuse the way the Thai's acted, but there are a whole new set of rules that foreigners should learn if they want a stress free holiday/ life here.

12 Billion Baht for a new Government complex, Wow, I was just dreaming about that sort of money being used to help upgrade the infrastructure of Pattaya, I did say dreaming.

Not sure if this has been stated before, but yesterday went to Chonburi immigration, they were happy to stamp and witness the form ( Baht200)
-
I'm still curious as to what use the information was going to be and how it was going to be stored. As I pointed out, the information was only as good, ie truthful, as the person filling out the form, because other than things like address, phone number etc, there would be no way of verifying any of the other information.
Why would anyone want to give false information. unless they had something to hide. Immigration has most of your facts on file anyway, i.e. Bank details, vehicle details, etc. The notes on the form states that giving false info is an offense.

she forgot that anybody just needs to walk 5 mns anywhere to find a room even cheaper ?
I must complement this Thai girl from up country on her perfect colloquial English.

Where are you?
Central plain = problem, North = bedrock = less of a problem.
We are north of BKK on the central
mud-bankplain, 16m driven piles were order of the day for our 2 storey home.Wow, 16 meter piles, I would have thought a reinforced concrete raft could have been more cost effective, but would depend on the ground conditions, i.e. freshly made up levels.

"The Ministry of Education has appointed OVEC to upgrade English courses at vocational colleges to ensure that all students can use the English language effectively."
That would put them way ahead of the present day English teachers.
So, who are they going to get to teach these courses? Right now, in order of who is best qualified to teach English::
1) Native English speakers
2) Europeans who speak English as a second language
3) Non-Thai Asians
4) Thai Bar Girls
5) Thai English teachers.
Something has to change in the Land That Resists Change For The Sake Of Saving Face..
Judging by the quality of the grammar and spelling I've seen here on TV I think your idea of "Native English speakers" should be qualified a bit more. Perhaps "Trained, Native English speakers".
How about trained natives.

It is not possible for you to buy land in your name....only for Thai citizens.
It is not possible to trust a Thai friend to buy your land in his name and for problems
not to arrive in the future.......would you buy land in your home country in someone else's name ?
why is it not possible to trust a Thai friend? I have plenty of Thai friends that I trust. Maybe you don't know the right type of Thais and live in Pattaya or some other place like it.
Absolutly agree with gamani, how can namatlira possibly say don't trust a Thai person, without knowing the circumstances.

Certainly right Jingthing. Friend, who supplies mostly foreign run restaurants & pubs etc. in BKK area tells me more than 40% of his clients have shut down last 18 months and he expects worse to come. Just check out the hundreds & hundreds of shop-houses along main roads closed down in Pattaya. Seems that many of the businesses in prime area like Bouakao keep rotating owners. Plenty of suckers around... Guess, only few really make a living, but might be wrong. Glad I never got sucked into starting something here, must be very! difficult. MS>
I agree with the above and hope this is relevant here as to business closures, and shop houses, This may have been discussed before here, but the total number of shophouses in Pattaya is monumental, they line every Soi and street in the City, How to hazard a guess at the total number,? would it be 10,000 or even double? its no wonder many are closed, and they are still building more as we speak. I am still hearing that some of the rents / lease contracts are very high.
I also see some start ups in isolated locations, with very little footfall and no parking, I feel from the start they are doomed to failure, this being said, I do feel that in the "shophouse business" it will come down to the survival of the fittest.

Advise about horn blowing is given when watching the video as part of the Thai driving license test.

The bus looks like one of those cheap Thai made death traps
Agree, But firstly so sad for the poor victims,
The build quality of most of the buses I have seen here is way below the standard that would be required to withstand any sort of accident,
The bodies consist mostly of fiberglass, aluminum and glass, the builders seem to concentrate their spending on cosmetics, such as airbrushed paintwork, banks of spotlights etc, when they should be designing a strong chassis, and roll cage.

My friend paid 84K for German "Damon) type, of braces, this did include 4 teeth being removed, as the mouth was "Crowded", also one "Impacted" tooth was removed, it took about two years, to correct very badly aligned teeth back into a perfect shape. That was with the BPH. the transformation was amazing.

I will be questioning the one year period after death to retain the foreign name, as our J.P. is under the impression that there is no limit, we have a case where the foreigner died about 5 years ago and left the unit left to his Thai son, the unit is now being offered for sale in a foreign name, as I said, I will check this with the J.P. and land office re the one year limit, as it will effect our 49% quota that is up to the limit.
As long as the foreign quota is not full, there is no problem selling a Thai owned condo to a foreigner, as long as the foreigner fulfills the legal requirements (bringing money from abroad).
Thank's, I fully understand that, but I am interested in buying another in my name ( Foreign ) so if a one year rule is the legal requirement, it would reduce the foreign quota to enable me to do that.

If you read the application form carefully, applying for a replacement license if you are non resident is illegal. this applies if you are over 70 or even a change of address.

Where is milk actually coming from in Thailand?
Apart from the Chokchai farm you never hear about any dairy industry in Thailand.
When I came here in the 70s it was almost impossible to find milk, except in 5* hotels

When a Bank offers a property for sale, the price listed is the price the bank wants. Most are overpriced 20%, so offer 20%
less in writing or wait until the bank auctions the house or land at a legitimate auction. Good Luck! Remember, if you and your daughter
have a problem, it's her property not yours! This is Thailand!
Be very careful when buying at auction in Thailand, there is very little protection for the buyer built into Thai law, there are moves afoot to change this, When ?
A Thai friend bought a condo at a government auction, under the hammer, 4 years ago, for about 4 million, spent around 2 million in renovation costs, after about a year, the previous owner took my friend to court, contesting the sale, they won the case, the verdict saying the auction was at fault, my friend appealed, it has now been stuck in the high court for more than a year.

i'm divorced now & i need to be here to provide for my minor child ........i'm having some difficulty with that from the immigration office.....regarding the situation as to when the ex wife is not in the country .....which was the reason i applied for the dependency visa in the 1st place ... i have a dependency visa which i have renewed 3 x's ..... for the same reason the ex wife was not in the country ..... but now the i o says they want consent from the ex ....annually which they never asked for during the previous extensions..........& i'm saying how do i do that if she's not here .....& why do i need to... if i'm applying for a visa that facilitates a foreigner staying in Thailand to care for his child when the other parent is absent or negligent...... so if the situation arises & they want to talk to my child i want to know what the law is ......... because i'm providing all the documents ....my ex & i are not fighting or in a custody battle we just want to know what we have to do to make sure our child is cared for ......... so i want to know if it gets to where they want to talk to my child ....which i don't have a problem with ...... what are my rights ....& or better yet what are the child's rights ....does an adult in the role of guardian need to be present ? my child has been present for the renewal process . previously and asked questions which were answered honestly .... there are some that would like payouts to process things ..... so if alone with a i o of this nature and there is no witness to the conversation .... we can be pushed into a situation of payola versus procedures .... there fore my question today
Sounds like you need a Lawyer, not TV.

they seem to be focusing on this. Went a few weeks ago with a friend to extend his visa. They asked for the tambien baan book for his girlfriends condo where he was staying....in Bangkok! No have. Big problem. Luckily, I was there and they took down my information for proof of where he was staying. A copy of my DL.
Ridiculous....
You can't extend a visa.
If he was staying in Bangkok, for an extension of stay (not an extension of a visa), at least the annual ones, he would need to do the extension in Bangkok, not Jomtien. Allowing you to supply an address to use was quite accommodating.
Why is it ridiculous for immigrations to want something substantive to prove where a foreigner is residing. It can't be a total surprise since there have been so many threads on TV dealing with the issue of proof of address.
I have to agree with several others above who feel Jomtien is easy to deal with. Some of the officers must have the patience of saints for dealing with all the know-it-all and arrogant farang day after day and not reacting to it. I would guess that the few farang who do have problems probably advertise their attitude and get it returned in equal measure.
You have a visa to stay here, you want to stay longer, ie. make longer your stay, which is to extend, therefore, you make longer, extend, you visa because you cant stay here without the visa, which you have made longer, extended, . Obvious.
Thank you for making this Crystal clear.

Yes, I would have nothing to complain if he wanted my actual rental contract (which I actually did bring with me when I went back). I was just upset because he sent me on this useless exercise.
I thought you stayed in a hotel, why did you bring your rental contract back?
You can stay in hotels and pay by the month... this way you get an actual rental contract.
I see, I was not aware that hotels issued rental contracts

Bringing your own bag, is very good idea, but what about most of all the plastic prepackaged goods, Styrofoam, plastic bottles etc
