Most all immigration Documents I have seen and used refer to us as aliens, not foreigners, and always printed in both Thai and English.

Appears to be something they are doing for extensions at Chaeng Wattana. Perhaps he had to do it for his re-entry permit if he had not done one before.
I think it is a big uproar over nothing..

a lot of guys that come for song kran do it because its a chance to piss people off and get away with it, ie they are bullies. they try all day to make people angry, so its good that the police cart a few away
Well used words from this poster, bullies, angry and police.

I see reading from the previous posts that the Depth Perception Test is not mentioned as part of the test, only color and reaction are listed as being required. Does anyone have any further confirmation that the Depth Perception Test is no longer required.
I can confirm the depth perception test is not required,
Thank you for your prompt reply loppylugs, I have 20/20 vision, with the aid of glasses, peripheral vision is fine, but lining up those pesky D.P.T. sticks is not always easy, and I am not sure how relevant, I understand the logic behind it, but I have no problems judging the closing gap of an oncoming car when trying to overtake.
More importantly, I would think, would be to introduce a standard eye test, the sort you have when testing for spectacles, the color blindness test seems a bit irrelevant to me, as the only reason as far as I can think is reading the color of traffic lights signals.

Lots of good advice here on what to look for and expect of Indian / Thai tailors in Pattaya. For those people whose size dictates, they have no choice but to take the route of the made to measure option, Thailand is one of the best countries for this type of expertise.
But, if you are able to fit into "Stock Sizes" in my opinion, the brand name, computer designed, cut and stitched clothes are far superior.

I think it is unethical for anyone to give advise here on "circumventing" / cheating the condo co-owner funds, and breaching their security.

If you have 2 passports showing different nationality, would it not be difficult using one for entry and the other one for exit, interested to know how this works.
I have British and Australian passports. You cannot use one passport to enter and a different one to exit. But when you arrive in the next country by air you can then present a different passport.
Thanks for that Asiantravel. I also have two passports, Australian and British. Seems that this could be an advantage in the case of the Vietnam Visa for example so as to avail yourself of the Visa Waiver. So, if you used your UK passport to exit Thailand, as presumably this would contain your entry stamp, and maybe a Thai visa, and re-entry permit, you would then want to use it to re enter Thailand, but it would not show an entry or exit stamp to any other county, so if an eagle eyed Thai immigration officer spotted this, would he not ask the question, where have you been ?

And the Swiss ?
VOA is required at a cost (45 USD?, photo required)
Laos lets me in on visa excempt free of cost.
A country that wants to attract tourism has to open up.
Just today I saw a report in an Aussie media stating like "Vietnam is the new Thailand",
No its not (yet).
I'm lucky enough to possess both Swiss and Aussie citizenship. If I'm flying in to Vietnam, I can use my Aussie passport while my Swiss passport can be used to avail myself of the free entry into Laos, something I've taken advantage of perhaps 20 times using my Swiss passport due to the visa waiver, which began in 2011 I believe.
Vietnam will open up more and more, but it has a lot of communist officials who still think the old way on a number of issues, thus hindering progress. For example, the Vietnamese who drive on the right (unlike Thailand) believe that RHD vehicles (from countries such as Thailand and Malaysia) are dangerous and refuse to allow them to use their highways even for a short tourism or business trip. So Thais can't drive to Vietnam in their own cars. On the other hand, Thailand has no problem with LHD vehicles and allows them in, in order to facilitate tourism.
And yes, Vietnam is in some ways like the new Thailand or at least has the potential to become the new Thailand. Having said that, I'm not sure if that's a good thing though. Thailand has it's faults and Vietnam should develop it's own version of tourism. The country does however have nearly everything that Thailand has: beaches, mountains, jungles, eco-tourism and agro-tourism, bustling cities, night markets, floating markets (in the Mekong delta vs. the Khlongs of Thailand), colorful hill tribe minorities etc.
Infrastructure, though still poor is rapidly improving with the recent opening of new expressways (though relatively short) near Ho Chi Minh City and between Hanoi and the Chinese border town of Lao Cai. A planned high speed rail link is also about to come to fruition, while I'd much rather trust the current Vietnamese rail system (though slow) to the unreliable Thai one, which derails every other week.

A few things I would wish to draw to the attention of the previous posters, the 49% foreign quota is always more expensive either to buy off plan or to resale, if a foreigner was to somehow buy in the "Very Grey Area" of the 51% Thai ownership. it would be near impossible to resell it.
Re the 800K retirement account, I believe I am correct in saying that this has only to sit in a instant access account for 90 days prior to renewing the visa, or 60 days if applying for the first time.
As for the interest comment, I have funds sat in a Lloyds UK current account that returns less than 1% net.

I use Dr Warapon in Pattaya Int, Hospital, for many years, she is, in my opinion, one of the best dermatologists in the area.

Why is it referred to as the"Darkside" It seems a somewhat derogatory term, have never seen any reference to the "Darkside" in any property sales agents details, or any other business advertising.

Just extended the range of my original modem by installing a "Power Line" it consists of 2 units, a receiver and a transmitter, plugged into the electrical sockets, one close to the modem, the other, in my case in another bedroom, I now have a very strong signal throughout my entire condo. Bought from J C ?? it's between the elevators on the 3rd floor of Tukcom, they "paired" the 2 units for me, Baht 2200 (fixed price, no discount)

If the second meeting doesnt have a 25% quorum then a third meeting can be held within 15 days and whoever shows up can vote and make the decisions for all.
God spare us!
I hope this will help. -- http://www.samuiforsale.com/law-texts/new-thailand-condominium-act-2008.html

Are you buying a house that is already included in an existing company, if so check the company books as a first step, buying from a Thai, and then setting up your own company is "Grey Area" at best, I am sure if you research TV threads you will get a lot of info.

If using straight from the fridge, either run cold water over them, or just wait for the to come down to room temperature, if not, putting them straight into boiling water usually ends up with the shells cracking.

The guys on T.V that make endless contributions on if the Baht Bus fare should be 10 or 20 Baht, could just put these coins to one side to make up the shortfall.

I am amazed that people here buy off plan, I know it has been said many times before in this forum, it is a huge risk without an escrow account guarantee. Thai owned SET listed companies would seem to be much safer, if anyone wanted to buy a new build unit.

The main problem isn't security, it's short-term tenants.
In the good old days even the big condo buildings were mostly lived in by owners and long-term tenants. People knew each other, the guards were regular and visitors were rare. These days many residents are just there for a couple of weeks and quite likely have no working key-card, or forget to bring it with them. Even if security didnt open the door for them they would only have to wait a few seconds for someone else to come along with a keycard.
This is really hard for a committee/management to deal with.
Restricting access to car parks is a lot easier, but even so many guards (who often are immigrants who speak little English or Thai) will just open the gate to avoid conflict.
I have served as a committee member for many terms, also as an advisor when my term expired, in a large Jomtien Condominium, the security question has been on many of our agendas, I agree with KK that condos are much more secure if occupied by owners or long term lease holders, our condo falls into that category, but it is a constant battle to get it completely right. At the end of the day, if you keep your windows and doors secure, with the added protection of a door viewer or camera, plus a phone link to security, a condo is one of the safest places to live.

I always get things that are not available here by going on line and getting them sent via air mail, they arrive within a few days, I have had many packages sent here with no customs payment wanted, much cheaper as well.

Your problem is prostate related I assume, I went through the Poscar medication program, but it did nothing for my prostate, it did however, sap my libido, the only positive side effect was it made my hair grow! So about 4 years ago I bit the bullet, and went to the source of the problem by undergoing a TURP operation. This was carried out by Doctor Jesada in Bangkok Pattaya hospital, I can recommend him without hesitation, I can now sleep well without having to wake up every few hours to go to the toilet.
Thanks for your reply Wrong Turn, I have used Minoxidil for maintaining my hair growth for many years, it's not successful in every case, but works well for me without the "Side effects of Proscar"
