Does it have a small yellow tail? If so, it's the hawk moth. .
-
Yep, since last night (Taling Ngam).

The plumeria (common name frangipani) is a tree with nice smelling flowers, especially after sunset. Jasmine and rangoon creeper (aka Chinese honeysuckle) are also fragrant.
Flame of the woods (aka jungle flame) is a shrub with flowers which comes in all shades of color. It doesn't smell, but it will attract a lot of butterflies.

No idea what that first one is, but it looks somehow familair. The second (white) one is bougainvillea which comes in many colors and the third one looks like a red ipomoea (morning glory).
-
It's a hammeread worm (bipalium).

Yes, down in Taling Ngam since this morning. There seems to be a network problem and according to BKK will be fixed around 5 p.m.

For what its worth, perhaps you could look up the local Marine Department on the island and make the report. They may not yet be aware of it. Website is http://www.md.go.th/index_eng.php
Thanks, but they've been here already.

They are really taking this situation seriously especially considering the exploration for oil and gas off the islands. Since Tuesday there are officials
on the beach every day and this morning another group of 10 people showed up. They’ve seen the videomaterial.
Since the high tide and rain on Tuesday evening the oil in the sea and on the beach has gone and it looks as if nothing ever happened ....

Just spoke to some men in uniform on the beach. They said they were from the district office and will solve the problem? They couldn't tell who was to blame.
Thai local t.v. was filming this morning.

Cooking fat from the restaurant?
Clearly you didn't take the time to watch the videos.

It's getting worse ...
@Muitmatt: It's on the beach a few hundred meters south from Intercontinental. Starts at the Five Island Restaurant and goes south to the village.
I'm sure it's not the local fishing boats, the amount is way too much.

This is how it looked in Ban Taling Ngam this morning ... a black sea and a black beach! The oil smell is horrible and the first two meters into the sea is pitch black!
-
The site of the Siam Insect-Zoo and Museum could be useful for the ID of the larva. Good luck!
-
My guess would be a Melolontha, family Scarabaeidae.

You are unbeatable mitmig..................... Thanks!
You're welcome

The yellow one on the left is a masked weaver but that other one is difficult to id because he's completely wet Looks like some kind of bulbul?
Maybe the dark-capped bulbul? It has the same yellow spot.

I recognized it by the scale markings on his feathers. It's a Scaly-breasted Munia, a finch. Also known as Nutmeg Mannikin or Spice Finch.

One of the largest private yachts in the world, Le Grand Bleu (341 ft), is moored almost in front of our house. It's been here for the third day now and one of his former owners was Abramovich.
In June 2006, Abramovich gave Le Grand Bleu to its current owner, friend and business partner Eugene Shvidler . According to the crew there's a staff of 52 people on board.
More information on the yacht at Wikipedia

No problems with Dtac but had the same issue a while ago. After restarting the phone everything went back to normal. Good luck!

It's a flatid nymph. Flatidae are a family of Fulgoroid plant-hoppers. Link to the article on Wikipedia.

That's a black-backed kingfisher. Very small with stunning colors.

What's this insect?
in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
Posted
It's a lynxspider (Oxyopidae).
I can recommend Siam Insect-Zoo and Museum regarding insects, http://www.malaeng.com/blog/?m=20080520
