  1. Hi,

As part of the permanent residency application for my wife I printed out lots of travel receipts from my visits to Thailand. These have been returned and Immigration have requested the originals or certified copies. My issue is that these receipts were only ever emailed, example being when you book a flight on Air Asia, you get your receipt in the email confirmation.

Immigration say that a computer print out is not acceptable and only the original or certified copy will be accepted.

How do you achieve this when the original is a digital document.

    Thanks

    Greg

  2. Hi All,

Thanks for all the advice. We have been in New Zealand six months now and are both very happy. We appied for the visitors Visa and it was granted in 7 days. Work visa was applied for in New Zealand and took four weeks.

All I will add to the above advice is that the more information you can supply the better. NZ immigration were helpfull and professional both in Bangkok and New Zealand and give good advice if you need it.

One thing to be wary of is your lady getting advice from Thai friends, they come up with some bizarre scenarios of how to go about dealing with immigration and most of it is based on false information. As an immigration official said to me, the immigration website describes exactly what you have to do and supply, follow instructions, supply all documentation, be honest and genuine and you will not have any issues.

So far so good, just putting final touches to the residency application.

Thanks Again, I am one happy kiwi

  3. Cheers for all the reply's. Went to the Office just off soi 33. Had a great time, crowd good standing room only, drinks cheap 75 baht for san song red bull. Had a sirloin steak which was also very good. Ladies very nice and not pushy at all with drinks which i think is a good thing.

Only major draw back was the finishing score and all the bloody chain draggers.

  4. Hi,

I had the same experience two weeks ago. We thought we had everything we needed, tabian Baan, passport etc. Had to return to hotel and get my passport. They also asked for a form from NZ immigration but we explained that we had not submitted the application so had no form. NZ immigration do not have one, you have to get the police check and submit with the application. The lady at police HQ had a big folder which has instructions on what each country require. There was no instructions concerning NZ so she let it go.

I noticed on the form my wife had to fill out there was a section to fill in my details and passport number and they also required a photo copy of it as well to be included.

This seems to differ from information given in other threads so maybe things have changed. Also it has been advised that it takes seven days but we recieved a reciept telling us to return on the 30th to collect. So it seems that it is now three weeks plus.

The lady also checked my visa and consulted a calender, dont know what that was about and did not want to ask. I wonder if it would have been better if i had not gone along as there were other thai ladies doing the same on their own and i noticed they just left the part on the form for partners details blank.

    Hope this helps

  5. I agree Bully's make a great burger. Which is suprising as the owner is from New Zealand. But I will try the landmark next week for a burger. I heard they have the best Steaks in BKK, but thats another story.........

Care to explain why it is surprising that a kiwi can make a good burger Waza, daza or whatever ya stupid ocker name is.

  6. Hi, I am in Bangkok for the next two to three months while going through visa process for my wife to join me in New Zealand. I am looking for some work to keep my mind occupied weather it be volunteer or paid or simply for some asia work experience. I am 39 years old have a bachelors degree in information systems and have spent the last couple of years as a Key Account Manager in Australia. I have a C.V and referees available on request.

If the right position came available I may consider staying long term.

    Thanks

    Greg

  7. I stay at the nana tai manson in soi 4. Please note the spelling as it is spelt tai not thai as per other posts. They have a free tuk tuk which takes you up soi 4 to the party area. If your mate could not find nana plaza in soi 4 then i suggest he is blind, deaf, stupid and dumb.

Anyway it is nothing flash but it is ok, They will tell you 1200 baht but tell them you do not want breakfast and you will get a room for 900 baht. I have never booked only ever show up, never had a problem.

P.S absolutley astounded your mate stayed in soi 4 and could not find nana, I say it is impossible unless he is a f**Khead

  8. Thanks for the replies, I will run with going for the two year work visa.

My situation is very much the same as yours kiwiocker, we met in October while i was on holiday and i have been back in Thailand since January. We have been staying in bungalows in phuket and also at my fiancee's house in Isaan so have no tenancy agreements etc. I have a lot of support from family and friends and alot of photo's. We will be in bangkok in two or three weeks if you want to catch up for a beer and a chat. I know the missus would be keen to meet anyone else thai who is heading to NZ.

Arriving NZ around August should make for an interesting experience, my missus wraps up in a thick blanket if the temp drops below 25.

  9. After reading a lot of very helpfull posts (thanks Roadman, Kiakaha) I will be putting in an application for my fiancee to come back with me to NZ in the next few weeks.

I have a couple of questions i need some help with. My first question is in regards to letters from friends and family in support of my relationship. I have letters from my friends + family that have been emailed to me along with a scan of their passport ID page as identification. Is it sufficent to print these out and hand in or will i need to get originals posted from NZ with a JP to certify the passport scan.

My second question is in regards to the sponsorship. I have my own house and as such need to show the deed of ownership. NZ now only has the land information database and as such all you can get is an electronic copy, is this sufficent.

Also anyone done this recently have any tips

    Thanks for your help

  10. Hi,

Went to the Shamrock Pub on Khaosan to catch some live music. The Thai man on he door asks my wife (thai) for ID as proof of age (she is 42). He then gives her one of the most nastiest looks I have ever seen and speaks to her in Thai. We go in and get a drink, wife tells me the man had said to her that this pub did not want no good thai ladies like her.

Finished my drink and left, plenty of other places to spend my baht.

Next night we are walking down Khaosan and i see the same doorman walk out onto the road and attack a disabled Thai man, punched and kicked him. Granted I did not see what had occured before, bu my advise is find somewhere else to drink on Khaosan as i visited numerous bars that were welcoming and friendly.

  11. Hi,

I am moving from Sisaket to Phuket and want to ship a motorcycle as well as a couple of boxes. Is there such a thing in Thailand as a company who does this. I have considered using the train and doing it myself but due to family reasons I need to get to Phuket urgently and have the motorbike follow on.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  12. Hi,
