The 800K account should be in your sole name, so how can she access it?
She used my ATM card. She's been using it for years with my permission without a problem as I'm often too lazy to drive into town. Only recently has the balance been down to 800k.

I once had an 8 figure Baht amount in our joint account without a problem.

If so, you've got a bigger problem than your extension.
An Aussie ex-professor who lived in our village on retirement extensions had health problems & sent his Thai wife to the Oz embassy in Bangkok to renew his passport for him but his photos were rejected (as were mine once). His wife returned the 200 miles back to tell her husband she needed to make another 400 mile round trip with more acceptable photos. He said `forget the new passport.' He died in the village 7 years later on a 7 year overstay. My wife quoted this, questioning why I need to keep extending every year when nobody checks. I tell her times have changed.

OK, Bht 1.6M if wife is also on an extension.
This really shows what a trusting relationship you have/had.
No. I have had numerous extensions over the years based on retirement using a joint account. My wife is Thai, it's only me on an extension.

Dr Jack54 & Lopburi3.
Thank you for explicit advice.
I shall apply for a 60 day extension to visit wife.
Then go for extension based on marriage.

Not correct. I had a joint account with my wife for my extensions based on retirement a few times. The 800k must be minimum 1.6M.

My wife had my ATM card- after nearly 30 years together I had no reason not to trust her. I actually think she's covering for her daughter. Big mistake having your 800k in an ATM accessable account.

We live in small village, 200 miles north of Bangkok. Bank is SCB. I can't sack the wife as she owns the house we live in that we built 28 years ago & besides she's been 100% until this. The Covids killed so many businesses here & money is scarce now in the village. I'll travel to the Pattaya agent if I can get this sorted.

I'm up for my 16th annual extension of my Non-O based on retirement within a couple of weeks. Shock! Horror! My Thai wife, we've been married 26 years, yesterday told me she has spent my 800k keeping her restaurant going. What can I do? I'm 75, on UK passport.

Over 27k cases of dengue, I assume this year, although the report fails to give a time frame. Does anyone know which is the prevalent strain? Is it DENV 1, 2, 3 or 4? I had DENV 2 about 10 years ago so I believe I'm immune to that particular strain but not to the other 3. Moreover I understand that having recovered from one strain, if you then get one of the other strains you will be more seriously affected than if you'd never had dengue before.

Ubonjoe, thank you. I knew it wouldn't be just a case of handing in the two passports, that would be too easy. It's 10 years since I last did this & I couldn't remember the procedure.

Having just received my new passport, do I need any copies when I go to immigration to get the stamps transferred?

With Ukraine responsible for 46% of the world`s sunflower oil is there anything stopping Thailand attempting to ease the shortage caused by the Russian invasion. We grow 3 crops of corn a year here in the lower north but I'm thinking sunflowers would grow just as easily & much more profitably. Has anyone had experience of growing sunflowers here? Is there an established market here?

Thanks for your replies. I will apply now.

My UK passport expires in April 2023 but I understand I can only apply to renew if there are 9 months or less before expiry- ie. I can`t apply before July 2022. My annual visa extension is due early August 2022 & as UK passports are taking 10 to 11 weeks to issue I will have to use my current passport for the extension. As the passport expires in April 2023 the extension will only be granted until the passport expiry date- & not for the full year until August 2023. When I receive my new passport will immigration require me to apply for another annual extension from April 2023 or will they then extend the extension for the full year in my new passport- that is until August 2023?

Some years ago if my electricity meter showed under 90 units per month there was no charge but if it went over the 90 units the charge was for the total units. Over the years the number of free electricity units has been reduced- but it still works on the same basis that if the meter shows more than the free allowance the charge is for the total amount. I suspect that the allowance just announced of 90 free units may be only if the meter stays below the 90.

YouTube are hopeless for movies. They have a computer program that checks every movie for copyright content before it gets posted. So many movies were being deleted by YouTube that some prolific posters moved to the Russian site- ok.ru They have thousands of free movies. Never seen one deleted over copyright. Forget YouTube- being based in the US they are at a disadvantage when it comes to copyright.

I had Dengue here in Thailand 6 years ago- no fun at all but my understanding is that there are 4 types of the virus- DENV-1, -2, -3 & -4 & having been infected with one type you acquire lifelong immunity to that particular type virus. If, however, you become infected with one of the other types of the virus you have no immunity to that & your symptoms are intensified.

On May 21st this year BBC report titled-- `Germany sex trafficking: Thai forced prostitution trial begins`.
Quote- `Five people have gone on trial in Germany for allegedly trafficking up to 200 Thai women & forcing them to work in a nationwide network of brothels`.
The accused are 4 Thai women, aged 49, 51, 53 & 60, & a German man, 62. No names given. The trial began in the western town of Hanau on May 21st 2019. There has been no update on this story from either the BBC or Reuters.
I would have thought a story involving so many Thais would get media coverage here in Thailand but apparently no so.
Anyone on this forum know any more on this story?

As an Australian I`d like to know why it`s taking so long for the Australian authorities to confirm or deny she was in possession of a valid visa.

If the Thai authorities are deporting the woman , they have the option under section 55 Immigration act to allow her to choose an alternative route.
Kuwait Airways fly direct- BKK - KWI. Having been refused entry into Thailand the airline she arrived on is obliged to return her. If indeed she was in transit & in possession of a valid ticket to Australia & a valid Australian visa & did not attempt to enter Thailand then on what grounds can she be deported?

We do not know for sure whether she had an Australian visa or even if she had a flight booked.
There are several airlines that stop in BKK on route to Australia, Qantas being one of them.
So it`s possible she arrived in Bangkok with no onward or return ticket & no Australian visa. That being the case where does Australia come into it? Does she just say that Australia was her preferred destination? This girl needs help.

16th retirement extension Non-O but Thai wife has spent my 800k.
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Over the years the balance of my account has been up & down but always over the minimum 800k. At my last extension it was 800k but some years I used a joint account which was fine as long as the balance was at least 1.6M.
