  1. I have a Non-Imm ED visa.

Date of issue: August 14, 2008.

    Enter Before: November 13, 2008

    Entered on: August 23, 2008.

My last extension is due on August 17, 2009. But I'm going home to Sweden for a month on July 29th and will be coming back on August 27th.

My question is, if I buy a re-entry permit before I leave can I still get my last extension when I come back on August 27th? And what would my new extension date be?

Or can I do my extension before I leave on let's say August 27th? (21 days before my extension)

I might as well ask this question to:

My school finishes sometime around August 20th will this be a problem to get my extension later

when I come back even though I got my extension papers from my school before I left?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Oscar

  2. Regarding the GPS, it needs an internet connection to download the maps, the maps aren't the same as maps.google.com though (they use thai AND roman letters, which maps on iphone 3g don't, so it only uses thai script) if anyone knows how to change this, please advise.

  3. thanks everyone for the replys. looks like i should be ok then.

same same for me, been comming 4 times a year 5 to 6 years as Tourist, only once had a return ticket and once a Tourist Visa arranged in Australia for 2 months. Never been an Issue!

Incidently only once [last week] had my bags X rayed on entering TH, Cnt say the same for returning to Oz, :o

So this would also work if I would obtain a Tourist visa?

I will use Tourist visa as an backup as I'm waiting for papers from MOE for an ED visa.

  4. No visa allows you to work - only a work permit allows work. You don't need any visa to study Thai.

    Yep, point taken.

Me and the Mrs are looking at a sabbatical year with intensive Thai training on an ED visa (as advertised on this site). Just wondering how an ED visa can be for a teacher...... As I am a teacher thought that might kill two birds with one stone. Let me rephrase - if I am already in Thailand on an ED visa can I obtain a work permit to teach without leaving the country and getting some other kind of visa?

    Thanks again for your thoughts..

If you want to work as a teacher I think you need to change to a Non Imm B visa and apply for a work permit, not sure though. Better wait for lopburi3 or someone who knows all this. :o
