You will need proof of at least 65k baht being transferred into a Thai bank from abroad for 12 months.

OK, and will my Krungsri bank be able to provide proper "proof" that those 12 x 65k funds came from (a. either doing mthly transfers by Wise, or b. I've read something about direct deposit from USA SocSec into BkkBank NYC commercial>routed to BkkBank personal account) that will satisfy Thai immigration.

  2. For past 4 yrs and this year (in Dec '22) will extend OA by showing 800k in bank as always required.

Following year will be getting 65000+ mthly from USA govt pension and would like to use that exclusively for ongoing extensions (beginning Dec '23).

I understand letter from US embassy is no longer used.

What specific proof(s) of this income will Thai immigration be looking for and accept?

    thx

If yo have already insurance with Pacific Cross then you can get coverage even upgrade your plan. I got an email from them yesterday saying with this.

    Requirement for  US$100,000 Health Insurance

Refer to the new restriction rule announced by The Civil Aviation Authority of THAILAND. If you require to increase your health insurance coverage to a minimum of US$100,000, a Change of Benefit Form is required to be completed (copy attached). We will then cancel your existing plan with prorated premium changes being applied and then issue a new plan. For policyholders who presently hold Maxima, Maxima Plus, Ultima and Ultima Plus Plans we can issue the attached Certificate of Insurance upon request which shows the value of coverage.

yea, I go the same form email the other day. saw it was a rule from The Civil Aviation Authority figured it wasn't a blanket foreigner requirement for those living here already. If it ever became that, the cost would eliminate me and I'm sure tens of thousand more.  Would have been nice if Pacific Cross had worded their notice to say INCOMING foreigners though.

    Fact

Increasing evidence that loss of sense of smell/taste is an early indicator of COV19 and many more than expected otherwise symptom-free folk who report loss of smell/taste do turn out to be CV19+. Research continues but some jurisdictions are alerting front-line staff to observe and note this effect in clients and themselves

    End of factual account

    Proposition

Loss of sense of irony/humour may turn out to be another early symptomless indicator

    End of proposition

eh huh,, I smell a fear monger ginning up more of it.... Oh wait - maybe I don't - wait, sniff sniff, I don't smell the roses or the neighbor behind me burning pepper in her wok now..... AAHHHH NNNOOOO!!!!! IT's It's... the FLU TERROR

  5. possibly it's natural vitamin D from sunshine, reasonably clean personal hygiene habits, comparatively less smokers, masks to some degree, the isolated tour group thing, all those together, and maybe that virus was here for many months before it got named and people started building some natural immunity.

Whereas china is a bit nasty dirty, cold winter weather, lots of smokers, pollution, and with their population the crowding has to be more than Thailand.

And maybe communist china was pushing some inflated numbers as propaganda?

I saw an interview with a White House Trade Official on CNN. All the guy could do is claim that the media was trying to frighten the citizens and he went on with a critique of how Obama dealt with the minor outbreak of a much less contagious disease back in 2009. He answered no question in any direct way and then complained when the interviewer interrupted his spiel that she was not allowing him to answer (a question she had not asked!).

Usually in such disaster scenarios, the opportunity to interact with the media should be grasped with both hands. People prefer the straight talk. If you downplay something like this, you make people frightened, much more frightened, when it becomes apparent that things are much worse than the government has been letting on.

Remember Churchill's speech to the British at the beginning of World War 2: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil tears and sweat." He told it to them straight and the people followed him into the jaws of hell.

I recall the POTUS saying more people die from car wrecks and we don't ban driving. Also said that the fatality rate is a little less than the average flu season.

As for CNN. Communist News Network. Clinton News Network. and I'm sure there are more catchy names that say the same. ANYONE who believes one sentence from that propaganda network... na, won't launch into that and get banned here again...

For those non-ussa people who don't quite follow the news of ussa as close as some of us yanks do, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, Reuters, AP, to name a few are full on propaganda machines and nothing less. It's been shown that they have CIA people on their staff advising/suggesting/writing? their news, of course that sort of story doesn't go far. Just saying, don't believe ANY of the <deleted> they push.

    Why would it be delayed?

It's super contagious and spreads rapidly through populations as can be seen in Europe - what would hold it back for months in Thailand which was exposed to the highest level of infected inbound tourists from Wuhan anywhere in the World?

yea, given that Tland hosted about 9 million chinese tourists in 2019 until china pulled the plug on outbounds in January. To think that a not insignificant percentage of that number wasn't afflicted with WuFlu would be silly. It may have been officially recognized and named in January but has probably been around for at least a few months before that.

There was a thread on TV where a few people were saying they got weird sort of sick, sort of flu like, middle to late last year but thought it was just another sort of yearly flu. Guess they didn't die.

There is quite a bit of online discussion on ussa centric forums where people are saying same - odd sort of flu last fall and early winter.

So a delay factor sounds illogical and I wouldn't buy that arguement.

  8. My quiet life east of sukhumvit in pattaya goes on mostly as it did before, but for the gym being closed - that realllly irritates me. tried to buy an ab-roller thingy today, go to the outlet mall next to Lotus, closed. Go to Lotus maybe in their sports section... all but groceries is roped off and closed, tried contacting Decathlon but nobody answers their phone or returns line msg so I guess closed too.

The closures of so many business irks me even though I have no skin in the game. The govt hasn't yet (ssshhhuuush!) commandeered falang bank accounts or come up with some reason to quadruple health insurance costs. I did do a couple large withdrawals recently just in case of... who knows.

I, and I would think most falangs being required to show and deliver on supporting ourselves in order to live here, and not financially dependent on the economy functioning normally, we're pretty financially insulated, so far.

As for the average Thai citizen with a mortgage, truck payments, payments and payments, who have found their jobs gone or hours cut back, or businesses forced to close. I feel for them, but it's their crazy government, so up to them.

    My opinion only.

If you want to pick a country where the gun violence is most likely to kick off go where they have the right to arm bears or something like that.

    555...

or you could call the police if you were being mugged because you were unarmed, and they MIGHT show up half an hour later with could care less looks on their faces.

or if in a really sideways situation (like if the grocery stores were getting shut down because of oh, a faux flu terror?) and the local gang decides your house looks good to invade and rob... yesoverherebc, you could always try to talk calmly with them and explain the situation... (rolling eyes emoticon here)

or if a fully corrupt oppressive government came into power and was threatening your livelihood, your home, you and your family, etc etc, you and a few million others might have a chance to resist by what means?

Well this isn't my country, but at in my least my country we have the inalienable right to bear arms!

If you come to my shop then it is up to you to abide by my rules to be able to enter my shop and that is not only in Thailand but in the so called 1st world countries like UK, US and Australia. Many on here just like to whinge and moan because things are not given to them as if they own the place. Do what a lot of you say about the Thai's. Take responsibility for your own health and safety and if you want to enter a store then abide by whatever rules they put in place.

Or vote with your wallet full of cash waving bye bye to any purchasing now or EVER with you or similar shop again!

The report says they'll fetch your shopping for you. But that can't really work if you're buying fresh produce, where you choose exactly what to buy. As for making you wear a mask, it makes them feel as if they're doing something good, even though it's pretty much pointless, same as their temperature checks. Imagine is everything ,even if completely pointless and ineffective.

On a similar theme, I was refused entry to a Home Shop furniture and building supplies warehouse yesterday, on the grounds that I am not Thai and might have brought the virus from Europe. I haven't been in Europe for nearly three years, but that didn't matter. I was given a chair to sit on while my wife shopped after returning to me outside with photos of what she thought we needed. Also, in this massive building, there was only one person who could sell us paint and he wasn't there, so we need to make a 100 km round trip to return there. Actually, she not we, as I'm banned for not being Thai.

Apparently, the paint man works for Dulux, not Home Shop. It is also often the case in places like Power Buy that the person assisting you and guiding you to a particular model doesn't actually work for Power Buy but Samsung, LG etc. Rather sneaky, as you are led to believe you are getting impartial advice and you are not. Just another example of Fake Thailand, things not being what they seem to be, smoke and mirrors.

vote with your wallet and tell them to bleep off!

Well, just spoke to my 86 year old mother. Nobody forced to wear masks but everybody has to stay at home unless vital to go out. Police are stopping motorists to check that they have a good reason to be driving. At her local Co op , 500 meters away , no masks but only 5 people allowed in the store at a time. Everyone else has to queue outside keeping two meters apart and not chatting to each other.

    The streets are almost deserted.

Maybe people would prefer this system at Makro. I wouldn't because I don't find it a massive difficulty , expense or inconvenience  to wear a mask but clearly this is all to much for some people so the queuing outside might suit them better.

So Denim, it's "you can get a beating or a whooping - which would you prefer?"

    That's what you are saying.

How about the logical choice that masks are good to prevent coughs and sneezes from spreading germs to others, but if you're not sick/sneezing/coughing YOU DONT NEED TO WEAR A MASK.

SO many people on this forum choose to OBEY BLINDLY. DONT QUESTION AUTHORITY. I don't know where in the world that has ever worked out to the positive. Repeat - Stazi-SS-KGB-CIA-and the whole list of the rest.

In the USA, we have a guaranteed freedom of the press—and thus we get some pretty accurate numbers of the Chinese Covid-19.  How free is the press/media in Thailand?

Ahem... we're supposed to have freedom of the press. maybe some local small town newspapers and the occasional website, maybe.

If you believe anything that's on TV or most of what's on the internet you've finished off the cool-aid and need to move on to a tall refreshing glass of fluoride.

Basically there are 5 media conglomerates that own and control most everything on tv and the internet, and it's all propaganda.

I am aware of some of the well known media restrictions in thailand but have no clue of the details, or if there is a believable alt-media, or where a thai would try and source true news.

  14. In other post I said I thought a emoticon of a shocked jaw dropped look would be appropriate. I won't rush the IT dept but pls consider.

If the psuedo doctors dressed as security guards at the doors of Makro tell me I cannot spend my money in their business because I won't wear a mask, then I won't spend my money with them, ever again.

Reminds me of the movie "They Live" where the star guy found the special sunglasses that revealed to him who the aliens are. OBEY. GO TO SLEEP. SPEND. CONSUME. DONT ASK QUESTIONS. OBEY.

  15. well seems the commandant has declared that all 7/11 type stores are to close at 10PM so that will shorten the hours the paramilitary can stand around.

Proactive Govt = create the problem, encourage specific reactions, then offer the solution/outcome they wanted in the first place.

Reactive Govt = wait for a problem then overreact in all the wrong ways.

    Close 7/11 at certain times??..??..??..

That's incredibly stupid to limit opening hours for shops where u can buy groceries (snacks etc.).

Because that means that people will be forced to shop at the same times.

And that means that the virus could spread because people are shopping at the same time.

If anything, they should make some kind of opening hours for people over 70 years of age, so they don't come into contact with the rest of the population.

But maybe it won't work here in Asia, since people stay together many generations, and the elderly don't go shopping anyway - they stay home and watch their grand kids.

ehhh, maybe show your ID to enter a 7/11 if they think you're over 70?  Special hours that 70+yr olds can shop (sort of like the alcohol rules)? Segregate the aged people?

You don't happen to work for or ever have worked for a government anywhere...?

I wonder who will be financing  the "debt" for all the borrowing going on around the world during this time?

It seems that countries like USA have a huge debt before all this, and I have been led to understand a sizeable part of that debt is unwritten by China

UK, Australia have now committed lots to support the communitythrough all this, but who unwrites the debt?

Anyone more informed able to enlighten me?

all I've read pre flu terror was that china's debt to gdp was about 400% so I don't see them financing too much.
