  1. Hello again all,

Thank you so much for all advises.

I am sorry that i did not give a clear information. I and my wife are living in Germany. We visit thailand once a year and stay never longer than 30days. I dont need a visa to enter Thailand in this case.

Anyhow, I want to open a bank account on our next trip to Thailand. Some more advises would be very appreciated.

    :):D

  2. Hello all,

I want to open a new bank account in Thailand.

I am married with a Thai, however, I have no visa and no work permit.

Is it possible to open my own bank account? What is the condition?

    Thanks for the reply

  3. Does a Thai citizen need a passport for a day trip into Laos of can they get in and back with any other documents?

I am Thai and I have a passport. Last trip I and husband visited Laos with 2Thai friends.

I did use only passport to cross the border at the Nong Kai bridge. 2Thai friends have no passport so they went to the Nong Kai city hall and paid 60Baht each to get the 'temporary border pass'(dont know the English term for this but just translated word by word. It is one A4 paper with photo, can take a photo there.) With the 'temp border pass',Thai can live in Laos for 3 days, with passport can live 1month.

We also paid for the bus ticket after the passport checkpoint.(about 20 or 30 Bht/person,really forgot how much). But I also saw many peple walked cross the bridge.

Thai dont need to pay for a VISA but for my husband paid 30$ at the Laos immigration office, near by the passport checkpoint in Laos.

The way back at the passport checkpoint to Thailand. The officer did not return the 'temporary border pass' to friends. It can be used only once.

Hope this one day trip info can help some.

  5. I opened a saving account at the Bangkok Bank Branch in the new big C on 7 Feb and requested INTERNET. I called tonight requesting a PIN number and was informed Bangkok Bank does not allow accounts with out a work permit, I explained I had a Retirement Visa and again was informed I needed a work permit. Is this a local problem? I have an account with Kasikorn in Bangkok. :o

I think the regulation below is useful.

  6. I was thinking of the pastry/coffee shop at entrance left of lobby (not the hotel's coffe shop/restaurant which serves buffets).

    They do/did great cappuccinos

I also got areal 'schtolen' for Xmas one year with real marzipan inside miam miam

    you mean 'der Stollen'?

  7. Are there any good farang-style bakery cafes in Khon Kaen?

Last time I was there, I tried Black Canyon and True Internet Cafe. Decent coffee at both places, True had some OK pastries and a great sitting area.

Does anyone know of a place where a good baguette or crusty pastries can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee in the morning?

Ah, almost forgot: And a good place for pizza? :D

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers

    :D:D

Macx..my husbad wants to invite you to have a coffee with us. :o .....We will be in Khon Kaen 3weeks a year.

Might be you can ask farang guys in Khon Kaen about the good farang-style bakery cafes.

Hope someone can help you out.

  8. I am in the States and got a call from my GF about our dogs. It appears that they were poisoned. Two have already died in the late morning and three others have a high temp., 8 hours later. I am not sure who did this but hope to find out. The pain in our hearts is unbelievable as these dogs have been with us since pups and have been well taken care of, shots, fixed etc. Is there anything the law can do ? I am not who the SOBs are who did this but I have to make them PAY! Can I take them to court if I fine who they are ? Please advise as I can no longer think clearly. I am mad as hel_l ! :o:D:D

hmmmm...I am sorry to hear this. In this case you really can not rely on the police.Dont waste your time. Just try to keep the rest of your dogs in safety place.

  9. Coming from Europe last winter, my flight came in late, thus missing all Thai air flights from Suvarnabhumi to Khon Kaen. I stumbled upon a daily bus service from said airport directely to Khon Kaen. Price only 202 baht! Cant beat that for a good deal! These are the hours; 14.30,15.30,19.30, 21.00,22.30 and this is the company; http://www.transport.co.th/Eng

    Final stop downtown Khon Kaen

    Travelling time 6.30 hours

Hope that is of help to Isaan lovers!

As I know, there is no flight from Suvannabhumi to Khon Kaen. Need to go DonMoung(old airport),46 km from Suvannabhumi.

I cann't open the link above but I can see the info. in Thai language. The time table mention Suvannabhumi to NongKai(they will drop you in Khon Kaen) only one trip a day, at 21.00

    hmmmmmm.....

I stand twice corrected! I think you are right; there is only one bus; 21.00 daily (that is the bus I took). Also the flights to KK are from Don M, not Suvannabhumi. Hope I didnt cause any problems.

your info. so useful though. this is the first time that i'v got the bus time table depart Suvarnabhumi on the net.i am thai but still searching the information about my country.laugh.gifha ha
