I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had Lens Eye Replacement surgery done in Chiang Mai. I have been diagnosed with a stage 2 Cataract.
Thanks for any information in advance.

No, he is taking pics as evidence for the tickets to be issued...........
Point #2 People are walking in the middle of the road because the road has a curve and the middle is the highest point. Damn even Thais know that LMAO

Happy Zones? Seriously?
And this from 'a top policeman'? If this is the best they can come up with, god help us all. Sadly, I think this IS the best they can come up with.
It NEVER seems to occur to any of these numnuts that they should be out doing their job, policing. They should be visible and be out enforcing, and seen to enforce, the law. Forget about trying to track, or harrass, tourists, just go out and enforce the law, for both Thais and foreigners. And put an end to all those tea money traffic stops. All they do is make traffic worse and make people hate the cops even more.
So, let me get this straight, if I want to wear my gold necklace, I should keep it in my pocket until I get to the "Safe Zone" Walking Street?? Then wear it?? Damn, you can't make this stuff up.

Do you have a map location, I'm interested

I am moving to BKK in the New Year and I'm looking for inexpensive accommodation. I am 72yrs old and alone. Would be nice if someone is looking for a person to help with their rent and have a spare room. I am a quiet, easy to get along with sober sort of person.
Thanks in advance.

I need top quality Pots and Pans, not the Zebra brand(too thin). Preferably with Heavy bases. I do a lot of cooking. Are there any suppliers in CM?

I went last week for my 90 day and when I presented my TM47, I handed my newly acquired TM30 and the officer chucked it back at me and said that it was only necessary when I do my new Retirement Extension in Jan. So we'll see on that one LMFAO!
The problems I went through to get the TM30 was excruciating. My landlord is a Policeman(the whole family are from the father who is a retired colonel to the sisters and brothers) He refused at first to do it, but after my GF explained it to him he agreed. 3 days of back and forth to Airport IMM i finally got it, no leniency with the 1600THB fine though.
This site can be so confusing at times, if you read the previous 15 pages in this thread there must be scores of different opinions and experiences. Could it be possible for one of the Admins to put this thread in prospective as to what is and isn't fact.
I wish that IMM would replace the officer who does the 90day reports, damn she can be impossibly rude at times.

Being a big person(elephant size) I have difficulties finding shorts and long trousers to fit me. When I do find something that fits the item looks like a sack of potatoes. What I need is someone who can make these for me. All the tailors listed in CM via Google cater mainly for suits etc. Anyone out there can help? Thanks in advance.

as its been put forward that expats need to deposit 3million in a frozen bank acc.to cover medical cover, why not tour buses with passengers DO the same, including the DRIVER.
Yep, even in my third world country, it is compulsory to have comprehensive insurance covering the passengers and third party coverage for any damage caused to other vehicles and occupants.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Sod that no beer? Not that I'm an alcoholic but in this climate to have to endure a second rate train dry. Pre mixing alcohol and having no ice is a sin. Thank god for cheap air flight.

I am considering traveling to Bangkok from Chiang Mai by train in January 2017.
My question is has anyone got any advice regarding the best service to use eg the daylight(morning) express or the overnight.
At least with the daylight Express I would be able to see the countryside. Returning to Chiang Mai I would use the overnight Express having seen the countryside.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also info on what services(food and drink) are available and if the train makes any stops for the above.
Thanks in advance.

I am going to Promenada today. I have O visa spouse. I arrived from Sweden 19 september. Live in Hang Dong. I am going to Laos very soon and therefore I have to buy a singel re-entry.
I am a bit confused about TM30. My wife and me stayed at the same adress for many many years. She never reported anything about that TM30.
Do you think that today I will not have my singel re-entry because we first have to do the TM30 and pay fee 1600 bath?
I would be very interested to hear whether or not they asked for a TM30 for 90 day report. In August when I went last, there was no mention of it?

I am contemplating giving up renting a house in CM and purchasing a 2 bed roomed condo. Being a SA'can I am crazy about BBQ. My question is:
Are gas fired BBQ's allowed in high rise condos? The purpose built BBQ will be used only on the balcony. When I rented a condo in Pattaya years ago they weren't allowed. Is this also the case here?
Thanks for any feedback in advance

This is another small reason why tourists come to visit the places as they are interesting.
A lot of flippant comments, many of them funny, but we have no right as a visitor to decide
what is sacred or not. Th guys just a senseless idiot.
Love your comment Mr Fixit " One dick on another"
"" Jirasak Wannabuan of the local authority went with other officials to the area on Monday and found that a sign forbidding climbing had fallen into disrepair.""
Perhaps if the sign was looked after people would take more heed, just saying
