  1. Your best bet would be to find a jewelry maker that may be interested in buying it. Gold shops obviously won't touch it unless it's 23% plus pure. Another option is to pawn it.

Worst decision ever to decriminalise it.  So obvious what would happen in poorer areas that already struggle with alcoholism.

I've lived in Issan for over 14 years. Cannabis is the least of their "problems" among youth, middle aged and the elderly. Lao Khao and yaba take center stage IMO.

It's a stupid idea by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Why would you need a screen in a bong?

After the burnt weed is vaporized, what remains is pulled down in the bong water.  No way can that get into your lungs because of the water, DUH.

People don't even use screens for glass pipes anymore.  The pipes are designed not to need a screen.

Someone obviously hasn't smoked weed since the 70s because a "screen" is totally unheard of in 2023.

You may benefit from a screen if you are smoking hashish-especially bubble hash. Bong or bowl. Most screens you find are metal or brass. Kind of a no no when smoking out of glass unless that's all you can find.  There are 2 types: a "daisy" which works wonders to catch ash in a glass hand pipe and a "Jax" screen that is made for a tapperd bowl which you find in a glass bong. Both are made from the same borosilicate glass that glass bongs/bowls are made from. I haven't posted on TV in ages, but I enjoyed this thread.

"Bong"??? come on! It's the only Thai word that is universally understood no matter what language you speak. Unless you don't smoke weed. Then maybe it's best to save your advice for another thread?

OP, you have best option in post #2.

He already has the non O in place so only needs agent to cover the money in bank.

Perhaps someone can advise you re cost.

My guess is less than 20k

I have a multiple entry O and was able to extend my visa because I'm employed. Since the borders are still closed that was the easiest  option for me

Even if he has the O in place would he still be required to change his status based on retirement or are there other options?

Does he have any children from the marriage. That would be another option for his extension.

If not a extension based upon retirement may be his only option. If he cannot meet the income requirement he could use the combination of income and money in the bank to reach a total of 800k baht.

He has a stepdaughter, who is an adult, but I don't think he ever legally adopted her. I will pass on the info. Thanks.

Blimey, I thought teachers were usually given a new contract at the start of each school year. With the borders closed, how could they have acquired a new visa and work permit? This could get messy.

You don't acquire a new visa. An extension is given off of the current visa. For example, I have a multiple O based on marriage. With the borders closed, my options were to get an extension based on marriage or an extension based on employment. It was easier for me to get an extension based on employment, so that is my current status as I no longer wanted to be dependent on the amnesty.

That is not correct. It is only the last day to apply for non immigrant visas at immigration that requires 15 days remaining on a person's permit to stay.

Extensions of stay can be done up to the last day of permit to stay if person wants to do it that close.

Great. I am under the amnesty, previously on a Non O multiple entry. Wanted to change my visa to a Non B since I have a valid WP. Went to immigration last Tuesday and was told to come back with a "staff" from my center.  My manager is only available this coming Monday (14th), so we plan on going Monday morning. Does this mean i missed changing my Non immigrant status by a day?

There are thousands still stranded in Thailand that need to do border runs to activate another period of entry when the borders re-open, such as multi Non O Visas, or Non O-A Visa holders.

Then there are those who's current Visas have expired but need to apply for new Visas at local Thai Embassies/Consulates, or those just wanting another VE entry to convert to Non O and subsequent 1 year extensions.

    Well said!

    1) Just leave it for now, come back with my regular one-year multiple-entry Non-O Thai spouse visa - and then see what happens next January when I renew my work permit. Unfortunately I've also just renewed my passport, and so the stamps that will show that I was here on a 30-day tourist stamp in September will be present in my passport when I go to renew my work permit next January.

My extension was running out, so I crossed the border into Cambodia, came back on a 30 day, so for those 30 days I may have been in a "grey" area, but then went to Laos and got a 1-year Mult-O based on marriage.

My WP does not coincide with my visa, they are about 6 months apart from each other. Labor office told me that my WP is attached to my contract and not visa. Since your status is based on marriage and not work I don't see a problem. Maybe others can clarify.

I'm on a multiple O visa based on marriage. Can that be extended by 60 days before my last entry runs out since it is a new visa and not an extension? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for answering my question ubonjoe.

Not sure if i read your response correctly so just want to be clear.

Can each entry be extended by 60 days based on marriage or am I only entitled to one per year? Because if each entry could be extended, then I could technically get 18 months out of one multiple entry visa?

  11. I got a multiple-O based on marriage in Savannakhet last month. Not a problem as long as you have your paperwork in order. Like other posters have already stated, stay away Mon and Thurs. and hand write "multiple entry" at the top. I went on a Tuesday, waited 15 minutes in line, picked up PP the following day at 2PM. Took all of 5 minutes.

  12. I just did a 1 year multiple entry-O two weeks ago in Saw. We drove up on Monday, got to Mukdahan around 430 PM, parked car in the overnight parking and crossed border. Tuesday morning, arrived at consulate around 830 AM. Consulate opens at 9:00 as already been mentioned. Waited in line all but 15 minutes once they opened, 1 minute at counter. Paid the 5,000b. Next day ( Wed.) picked up PP at 2:00 PM which took all but 5 minutes. Done and dusted.

  13. I just got back from Savannakhet last night. Drove to Mukdahan on Monday and arrived around 4:30 pm, parked car (250b per day covered parking). Daparted Thailand. Crossed bridge, and got the single entry Laos visa. Tuesday, went to consulate. Waited all but 20 minutes in line. 1 minute to process multiple-O based on marriage. Paid the 5000b.

Headed down to the Mekong and drank a few 35b BeerLao Darks. Got some good eats. Went back Wednesday at 2:00 pm, and waited 5 minutes in line. Picked up my PP with a fresh Multiple-O good for 1 year. Done and dusted. No financial, no BS. Just proof of marriage to a Thai (which is all it should be IMO) and other documents that have already been covered in this thread.

Been married 12 years.  I was always on a Non immigrant with extension, until this year. First time going this route and by far, the multiple entry based on marriage is the easiest, hassle free solution. I only live 1 hour from the nearest border crossing so that helps. Just FYI, DON'T go to Sav. on a Mon. or Thurs. Peace.
