  1. My friend is just listening to this "underground broadcast" By this guy they call "Anthee" He says no one knows where this guy broadcasts from or he would be put down.

I don't know. I know I don't post often mostly read only but I've been going to Thailand 12 years now and just got back from a two month stay last week so I do know what is going on in Thailand.

We'll see if my friend is just a jerk pulling my leg.

  2. I am in USA watching the thai satellite. My friend watching with me says it is not shown in Thailand. Red shirts talking.

BREAKING NEWS: From what they understand PM ABHIST HAS BEEN SHOT AND KILLED AND THE PERSON WHO DID IT KILLED HIMSELF AS WELL!

According to this broadcast no one knows yet and IT IS NOT CONFIRMED AND IS ONLY RUMOR!

    I HAVE NO IDEA.

Anyone else hear about this. Tried to start a post about it but can not figure out how to do it, Sorry if off subject.

  3. Not sure if this is related but just got turned away in Tampa Fl on Delta. My ticket was for return to USA over 30 days. Tampa, Fl USA to BKK. Been going 10 years, every-time my ticket was over 30 days (2-3 month ticket) Including my most recent visit in June. I guess now the rule is if you are a US citizen traveling to Thailand for more than 30 days you MUST have a visa and my passport is no longer acceptable if return is over 30 days. I wonder if the Thai government put that rule in recently, just added it or is it just a rule Delta put in because when Americans are forced back, The airline must pay the cost? I wonder if that is off subject but maybe has something to do with this thread. Needless to say I am not on my flight but will be there in 2 days and US$500 more for a forced change fee on Korean Air.

  4. I had the same question. What are the taxes or costs going through the red line if you ARE "HONEST" and do declare 3 or four bottles?

About buying at duty free. I own a restaurant and can buy premium alcohol much cheaper. I can buy for instance, Johnny Walker Blue for far less than the shops sell it there (plus I know it is genuine). I would like to bring 3 or 4 bottles of that as gifts and and personal consumption. I have no problem declaring them but would like to know actual costs of declaring. Any serious knowledge from anyone?

  5. This is so sad but yet typical of Thailand. All overcrowding everywhere you go (with exceptions). When are they (the owners and or government officials) going to learn that over crowding and lack of fire exits or signs eventually mean death. Here in the states, I own an establishment and occasionally a fire marshall shows up to make sure we do not go over limit. We even have to have counters. Especially on big nights. Thailand doesn't seem to care. Do they even have fire marshalls. I've been there 11 years now for 2 month holidays and it is always the same. The same as the boats! Too many people crowded onto the boat or ferry and sure enough it happens. The boat sinks and people die. That is why I don't go to those "big nightclubs".

    It is a sad story.

  6. Does anyone know where the band "Buffalo" from the now demolished Country Road II play? I think they were there for over 15 years? Great band and always played my request. Always played Pink Floyd "Another brick in the wall" and Eagles "Hotel California" for me. Always happy to tip them. Wasn't able to see them last year because I did not the other bar they play in. Anybody know where the buffalo roam???? Thanks for any info.

The brand new Country Road II is now located in Sukhumvit Soi 5, above Foodland. New premises, new furniture, same old bandboys, same songs, same staff.

Thank you! I will have to go see them when I come in Feb. So what's up with that small country road bar between Soi 5 and 7?

MOSCOW — President Dmitry Medvedev says Russia will deploy missiles in its Baltic Sea territory in response to U.S. missile defense plans. Medvedev says the short-range Iskander missiles will be deployed to the Kaliningrad region which borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania. He has not said how many missiles will be deployed or whether they will be fitted with nuclear warheads.

What is N. Korea going to do today?

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea released a new batch of photographs of Kim Jong Il on Wednesday, apparently seeking to show that the country's absolute leader is not ill and has no problem in running the communist regime.

North Korea is building a new missile launch site capable of firing an even longer-range missile than the country has tested in the past, South Korea's defense minister said Tuesday.

Many around the world wanted Obama elected-so lets see how he does. As a proud American I remember all the democrats saying if Bush was elected they would move to Canada (Never happened). Now that Obama is elected, I think I will move to Thailand. (See ya in Feb!)
