Any responsible police force (yes I know) would not leave a drunk in a cell without checking on them regularly. Also they would take away all items that could be used to hang oneself. Standard procedure for a responsible police force. Please not I do not class the Thai police as responsible! Of course we only have their word for how he died, so far.
