  1. soi 8 bar ... in sukhumvit soi 8 or the game at the top of soi 9 will probably be showing it.

i'll be (i hope) watching it in soi 8 ... as they tend to have commentary for the GAA games ... problem being this weekend (as the mightyharris points out) there's several high profile EPL matches on this sunday.

    cheers

  2. If the budget 10-12,900k call into MBK and get a imported galaxy nexus for 11,500 or a galaxy s2 for 12,000 (19,900 + 17,500 from samsung thailand )

they will be ALL the phone you need for now ,AND the next few years as well

which shops in MBK r selling the nexus and s2 for these prices ??

  3. Farang's That Have A Lower Standing As Dogs / Do They Deserver It?

I've personally never experienced it, I also don't know any Western friends who are in relationships with Thai ladies and have a relationship consisting of anything other than mutual respect. This also extends through to the families.

We've either been very careful or lucky. Perhaps this is because none of us have dated or married ladies who are not well educated, are financially independent or from a more promiscuous walk of life (i.e. actively hunting a westerner).

We have not been a financial or security choice, we have simply been a choice of the heart as have our better halves.

I draw attention to this not to show off (there is nothing to show off about), but to identify that when approached normally as we would in the west, a relationship has a far higher chance of success and simply being 'normal' without any major dramas, surprises or ship wrecks.. Thats not to say it doesn't happen, but the chances of a ship wreck are reduced with normalcy.

I don't believe you, hang on, I might believe this is what you think, but that would make you hopelessly naive, and I do know lots of guys with their heads in the sand, being fooled by their 'nearest and dearest' aka 'suckers'.

Oh, and these sorts of guys always make the same claims, our girls are our age, were never hookers, are educated, have good jobs, etc.

Your cynicism is noted, your logic unsound, your opinion fundamentally flawed.

You are implying that by being in happy and normal relationship I might be naïve, have my head buried in the sand and be blinded by lust. That friends and I are on the cusp of being treated worse than dogs, that our relationships are on the brink of imminent collapse and that we blindly go forth towards catastrophe.

It is incredible how you suppose to know me better than I do !

I very much doubt that Daughters of Politicians, Lawyers, Chula Professors, Thammarsat Masters graduates etc… were ever hookers. I also very much doubt that many people could consider those who date or marry such ladies be considered suckers. I do however doubt that you could believe that westerners can end up with normal people because that appears to fall so far outside of your range of mongering experience.

You may choose to lie with dogs, wake up bitten by fleas and pass all judgment based on this experience. However, by periodically thinking beyond the gutter and outside of your ‘box of experience’ you might enhance your insight beyond the levels of general disappointment….

ur first post was fine ... but this one comes across all wrong !!

  4. @NovaBlue...............................

I guess being older has some advantages after all.

We got to listen to Led Zep, Pinkl Floyd, Roxy Music, Steely Dan and Springsteen growing up and they get Justin Beiber and Lady bloody Gaga!

true ... but there was crap manufactured pop music in the 60's and 70's and there's some bands creating great music these days also !!!

  5. Well if this happens, let's hope it turns out better than the dismal embarrassment that was the last big line up in Bangkok, including Placebo, Snow Patrol, Greenday and several others, when everyone was herded into 'cattle pens' out in the middle of nowhere on some derelict industrial park, where a huge podium had been constructed for all the Pu Yai to sit and obscure the view, sponsored by a Thai Whiskey company, 100 Lousy Pipers was the only drink on sale, no other alcohol allowed.

It was so appalling a group of what looked like Thai Uni students apologised to us for their awful government! It was the present incumbent's brother at the time.

i was at that festival (unlike Green Day) and it was excellent !!! ian brown, maximo park, franz ferdinand and oasis on the 1st day and snow patrol and placebo (who were brilliant) on the second day !!

the only complaint i could have for a super weekend was stereophonics cancelling ... but there wasn't much the organisers could do about that !!

and a quick motorbike taxi ride to the nearest 7/11 meant we had as much beer as we needed !!!

  6. looks like a real beauty, but a bit out of my budget. bought the sony nex-C3 a few months ago and really happy with it.

i do think these "mirrorless" cameras are the way to go and very surprised Canon haven't entered this market.

  7. Blu-ray players will play blu-ray and dvd. In fact, a blu-ray player will upscale a normal dvd to make the picture better. If your TV is full HD then I would definitely get a blu-ray dvd player.

Invite a bird around and show her something like 'Avatar' on blu-ray. She'll be so impressed she'll probably tickle your plums.

cheers for that ... gf has now said i'm not allowed to buy a blu-ray player or i'll be losing my plums !!!

  8. True Internet offers a 50% discount for the first months, if you are a current 3BB customer.

I have recently changed to True 10 MB connection which is cheaper than what I previously paid for the 8MB 3BB package. Download speed is now better, while upload sometimes sucks.

i was trying to check the True internet package online, but can only seem to get the Thai version.

is it worth getting for it's 3G coverage ??

  9. I know this is a very general and wide ranging topic, but .....

I stay at sukhumvit soi 52 and moving to soi 50, both very close to tesco lotus on nut.

I currently use 3BB 6Mb package costing 631 baht per month. I have my own wireless router linked to a telephone line and myself and gf usually only use the internet for mails, basic online surfing and some video. Generally we will have 1 desktop and 1 or 2 laptops connected at any one time ... and sometimes a smartphone also.

Now if I wasn't moving and if the 1 year with 3BB contract wasn't finishing I wouldn't bother changing ....

but ... would it be worthwhile changing to another provider ?? is it worth looking at 3G ?

if I move to True could we use our laptops and phones at True "wifi hotspots" ?

would moving to a better/faster provider mean we could stream from the internet to our TV ??

i'm sure this question has already been asked many times before, but I didn't see anything too recent so do cut me some slack ... thanks for any advice !!!

  10. AV Center at Pan Thip .... i've found them very competitively priced any time i've been there.

i just bought (1 month ago) the sony nex-c3 .... it was 17,900 with the 18-55mm lens and 20,800 with the 18-55mm and 16mm lens !! love the camera !!!

btw ... they have 8 shops at pan thip, but with different names ... i used the one on the 4th floor.

  11. Ball in hand (after a foul stroke only) is the rule used in international and professional pool tournaments. And most of the guys I've seen playing in these don't look like they need to think about why they are playing pool or need to take up another sport. It is the rule prefered by most serious pool players and is much better than the numerous varieties of the "2 shots" rule.
