  1. Mate,

I changed my address on my bike & car license last week. Was told they opened at 08:30am but when I got there at 8am to beat the que they were already open.

Get there with 2 copies of your residency certificate or 1 yr visa, your visa/last visa stamp in your passport & your doctors certificate & it shouldnt take you more than 30mins.

Its the long driveway AFTER soi 99.

  2. In my experience... ignore all banks except Kasikorn Bank.

I have 4 Kasikorn accounts, 2 in Phuket (one for my Thai son), one in Pattaya & another in Bangkok. The first account was easy to open with my address on a Business Card of where I lived and the accounts afterwards I have been asked for a Work Permit which I kindly smile & reply that 'I don't need that' and show that I already hold Kasikorn Bank accounts.. they have always then happily assisted.

A friend of mine tried to open an account at the Asoke Branch and was told now.. he went to a less touristy area close to where I live & was given the account with no questions...

When I was previously married I needed my marriage certificate with Bangkok Bank but then could do nothing without my Wife except for going to the ATM.

My advice would be to goto a Kasikorn Branch close to where you live and if you are told no, then walk to the next branch.. you will quickly find one that says ok... especially if you walk in with alot of cash to make an opening deposit!

  3. I work for a Global OEM in Colombia however I hold my residence back here in Bangkok. I follow my work roster of 2 months in abroad & 1 back in Bangkok.

This is fine however it limits my capabilities with license's, vehicle ownership, loans etc etc from Thailand as my income comes to Thailand from abroad. I can get around the license & vehicle ownership however it is a long process each time I need to do it.

My question is, can I set up a Thai Company from which I would work as an Advisor or Consultant for the OEM that I am currently employed by or is this classed as a Thai National Only Position? The reasoning I am thinking of working this way is that I would then reap the benefits of home loans & easier process's to update license's, change ownership of my vehicle's etc etc.

I have contacted a few Legal Firms, some of which I do not feel comfortable with their answer and other's I have not received answer's at all...

Anyone know if this is possible or know of a good Thai Lawfirm that could assist? (Not looking for the big commercial names for lawfirms...)

  4. Mario,

Can you tell me if the immigration office to goto is the one on Soi Suanpluu?

Normally a work permit would be enough.

If not, you have to obtain from immigration who might only issue unless you do 90 day reporting at their office. Maybe a rental contract or utillity bill will be accepted by immigration. If not, you have to obtain a letter from your embassy.

  5. I need to renew my Drivers/Bike License and need a Certificate of Residence as I've relocated from Pattaya to Bangkok since obtaining my Thai License's..

Anyone know what documents are required & where I can get this in Bangkok?

  6. Hank,

Thanks very much mate.. i live on Rama 3 Rd so will take a ride up there tomorrow!

I had never even heard of this stuff - until you mentioned it. Then I saw it tonight for the first time ever when I visited a store on Ratchadaphisek Road tonight for the first time ever. The store is called "Boontavorn", which is a home furnishing establishment, and the product I saw was called "HG Professional Limescale Remover". When I saw it, I thought about your post. It sells for 520 baht for a liter bottle, and 195 baht for a much smaller bottle. Boontavorn is located on Ratchada - near the Sutthisarn MRT Station - and a bit past the police station on the same side of the road.

  7. This will most probably relate to more of the Australian Public.

I am looking for a Calcium/Lime Cleaner/Remover for the glass in my shower.. in the younger years whilst still living in Australia the product CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) and a quick and easy Pressure Cleaner would see the shower clean in less than 15 minutes ;)

Obviously not using the Pressure Cleaner any more but would like to know if anyone knows of a Thai Equivalent that is good for removing Calcium & Lime build ups..

  8. Kilgor... brought back some with me but still enjoy going out for breaky instead of staying home.

BTW.. the juan valdez is a little too commercial for me.. much prefer the sello rojo

Should've brought back some coffee, Columbian is the best in the world, just ask Juan Valdez :)

  9. I'm coming back from 3 months work in the Colombian Jungle & looking for a coffee shop/breakfast place with a relaxing atmosphere.. i live in Rama 3 so anywhere in about 30 mins radius would be fine.

Anyone know of any relaxing little secrets which don't include the commercial starbucks & other attempts of real coffee's?

  10. I have Kasikorn accounts and also the K-Web Card. I went to two of my branches & they both informed me that the Debit Card could not be activated for online use.

You apply for the K-Web Card online and within 24 hrs when/if you get approval you receive the details of the card on your K-Cyber Banking Account.

K web card is for online shopping. Debit card can not be used for online shopping and is marked 'electronic use only' = ATM's shops, etc. UNLESS this has changed in the last 2 months.

    Not according to the site

    http://www.kasikornb...ages/Debit.aspx

There is a link that says "Internet Shopping by K-Debit Card'

  11. Guys,

I have some training certificates that I need to certify against the originals with a Signature of a Justice of the Peace.. I have the originals & copies with me in Bangkok.

Does anyone know where I can find a JP?

    Scott.

  12. No problem getting both in Pattaya.

Disc locks are available from most dealers and from the hardware store roughly opposite Foodland on Third Road, as is chain lube; last time I needed some Chattri also had chain lube at Road Machine on Third Road, on the left side going from Pattaya Klang to Pattaya Nua (closed on Sundays).

    Cheers LeCharivari

  13. I want to make a small ramp to push my motorbike up a step to lock it away inside the house while I'm away at work. Nothing special about 30cm high, 30cm wide & 1.2m long.

Does anyone know a metal work shop in the Pattaya area that could put one together in a few days?

  14. G'Day,

Not sure if this will be the right forum so if its not, feel free to move it.

I have two friends, an Australian guy & an Indonesia woman. They wish to get married but due to 'family issues' they do not want to do it in Indonesia.

Can anyone tell me the address of the marriage registrar & the required documents to complete this in Bangkok so I can pass the information on to them?

    Scott.

  15. Hey,

I've been living in Thailand for the past 5 years but have only relocated to Pattaya in the last few months and spend a lot of time away at work so haven't got to know the area well as of yet.

I've recently bought another Ducati and am wanting to go for a ride for a day or two when I get back in March.

Anyone know any good roads to ride in the south east area?
